Our No. 4 Squadron Combat Controllers recently completed Exercise Havoc Drop, an annual exercise to maintain their operational parachute currency requirements. Their #AirMobility mates at No. 37 Squadron and the Australian Army's 176 Air Dispatch Squadron were happy to help them jump out of a perfectly good airplane.

I joined the AAFC with plans to become AFSEC, After discovering that No. 4 Sqn exists I've been figuring out all the details to try and join. We'll see if i make it in a couple years I guess.

Do Aussie CCT’s conduct much direct action/fighting or mainly focus on ATC and CAS?

Yes, special tactics project (later 4sqn) formed out of a need for direct support to 1st + 2nd commando reg., and SAS.

Do people Training to become a loadmaster get to partake in the havoc drop?

My recollection is that loadmasters were RAAF - air dispatch people (Army 176 ADPL) were responsible for the load and DZ activities.

G'day, we suggest getting in contact with Defence Jobs, they can answer all your questions. You can give them a call on 13 19 01, or have a look for the answer on their website here: www.defencejobs.gov.au

You have "airplane" in the description. Kinda disgusted that the RAAF isn't VERY clear to its PR people that it's "aeroplane".

I'd like to see Australia get rid of the Royal everything - I can't see that Chuck is worth anything to us. I'd also like to see Australian Defence get rid of the "fly swat" salute and go for the neater US salute.
