    0.42 secs.... quite quacky like a regular piezzo under saddle. Do the sound hole pickups (HP1) sound like this as well..... which do you prefer? I want to put in in a Martin D16 that is unplugged (no onboard pick up)

    • @DerekPaulGuitar
      @DerekPaulGuitar  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In my opinion i'd go with the SG-2 or SG-1 (if your'e not bothered about volume control) i'll be releasing a video in the next two weeks about 3 different types of acoustic pickup comparing the HP-1 to the SG-2 and the element LRBaggs preamp, cheers!

    • @cugir321
      @cugir321 ปีที่แล้ว

      LR baggs does not sound like a guitar.....people think dark and muffled sounds good cause most people have a under saddle piezio.

    Great video man, it´s interesting to see alternatives for players to get an electroacoustic guitar without having to drill into their instruments, stay well

    Great video, Derek! I wish I knew about these a year ago when I had a non-acoustic electric Taylor GS mini and tried out their little insert pickup that didn’t sound great. This one sounds sweet. Nice!

    • @DerekPaulGuitar
      @DerekPaulGuitar  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cheers Steve! It’s about the best non permanent one I’ve tried, the SG series are great! Love your GS mini by the way!

    What keeps the pickup in place? Is there an adhesive? Also, concerned about string clearance height. thanks for the video. No tools-skills. Don't want to drill the guitar anyway. Not auction house guitars but they are the best I can afford and i wouldn't want to hurt then.

    • @DerekPaulGuitar
      @DerekPaulGuitar  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s held in place by the string tension and doesn’t raise the action at all m, won’t hurt the guitar! Cheers for the comment

    OK, that's kind of slick. That price is good, really good actually. I have a Fender CD-60 for using around the campfire & I want to get something like the Gretsch Jim Dandy or the Recording King equivalent for fingerstyle & blues, I love that boxy bluesy sound from those, and installing this would be way to easy.

      It’s an incredible thing to be honest, but the SG-1 and SG-2 sound great, and those are great guitars Rich! Cheers

    Hi Derek, I'm very interested in this pickup, nice review. I have a Martin D-15 solid mahogony guitar. Are these designed to fit any acoustic guitar? I'm just concerned having examined my own guitar that the saddle height could be an issue. It doesn't seem to be very "tall" if you know what I mean.

    • @DerekPaulGuitar
      @DerekPaulGuitar  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I hear you, yes I think they are designed for any acoustic guitar, I reckon you should be ok with it, cheers and thanks for the kind words :)

    The volume knob is on the top of pickup which is odd considering it would be easy to hit. I wonder why they didn’t design it with a volume wheel or lever on the side, like the LR Baggs/Fishman sound hole interfaces.

    • @DerekPaulGuitar
      @DerekPaulGuitar  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It’s honestly you’re low so it really doesn’t get in the way, I’ve never hit it whilst playing (unlike my strat)

    This seems like a decent improvement over sg1 going by the video you made of it a couple of months ago. The sounds captured are clearer. I wish I could hear it in comparison to the mic but I can clearly see the improvement.

    Never used electrics in my acoustic Taylor Big Baby before. Just in the market to electrify it and had narrowed it down to the Fishman Matrix infinity (which I’d have professionally installed) but now I’ve come across this which is both easy DIY and a lot cheaper. Which would you say would be better if the two sound wise from your or anyone else’s experience. Thanks. Great channel 👍

    Hi Derek. This pickup seems exactly what I look for to amplify my hommel (an ancestor of the better known dulcimer). As I am constantly looking to push the sound possibilities of acoustic instruments, I would like to connect my distortion pedals to pickups like these. Is that possible (mind you, I have a noise gate with which I can suppress most feedback), or would that be too much for this kind of pickup? Hope you can help me out.
