    I snapped the head straight off the NG-1 pickup after a few months by standing on the chord (in a passionate jam frenzy with my pianist son) and then standing up abruptly. I liked the pickup very much though and will buy this model here. Yes, that clip is very important to wear! Thanks for your review.

    I’m waiting for the NG-2 to become available in Canada. Gonna have to settle for the NG-1 for the moment. Great review.

    Hi Justin, nice review. Thanks. How is the volume output of this pickup and do I need to run it through a pre-amp before if I connect it to an Apogee audio interface? Does it catch the sound of the cord while playing? I've also heard it breaks easily. I don't play live and plan to keep it permanently installed on my classical guitar for studio recordings mainly. Would you recommend it for that purpose?

    • @JustinHatt1
      @JustinHatt1  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I found that I can go way louder then I’d ever need to use. No need for preamp. I have mine installed on my guitar all the time. Also, just used the attached cable clip to your belt, and you won’t have any issues with breaking

      @@JustinHatt1 Thanks for the reply. Just realised I have ball end strings on my classical so will have to change the strings to use the tie ones. How is the quality of the recording using this pick up and does it capture the natural sound of the guitar or makes it sound tinny? The NG-2 doesn't seem to be available anywhere online. Wonder when they'll make it available?

    • @JustinHatt1
      @JustinHatt1  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I like the NG-2 very much. I think it’s the best pick up system out there. It really makes the guitar feel - to the true sound of the instrument. It’s doesn’t sound flat or tinny. Captures the true sonic tone.

    Thanks. Just ordered this for my Yamaha Guitelele. I want to start using it through my portable Roland Mobile AC amp.
    Just got the guitar a few months ago, my first nylon in 40 years, and it still has the stock strings on it. What brand/type strings do you recommend for this little thing, which plays more like a ukelele than a guitar?

    • @JustinHatt1
      @JustinHatt1  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sounds totally rad! I’ve used several brands of strings. You can never go wrong with D’Addario, but personally I’ve been using the Martin Magnifico strings, I really like the tone and overall playability.

    hi justin, could this pickup work with Reverbs and Pedals like hall of fame?! I honestly only wanna get a pickup to be able to plug into a pedal

    • @JustinHatt1
      @JustinHatt1  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question! I don’t see any reason why you couldn’t do that. I never thought about that. My amp has built in reverb, and chorus for my acoustic guitars so I never thought to try it. But I’m pretty sure you could without much issue. You will probably have to adjust your settings accordingly to match the output of the pick up, and obviously EQ it all. Hope that helps!

      @@JustinHatt1 One more thing to mention tho I read in the official page of KNA that its better to first plug into a pre amp or a Di box to get a optimum sound than directly to an amp. Can you recommend me a great Preamp as well? What do you think of Roland Cube amplifier as well justin?! Thanks for help

    just listed with studio headphones [flat and accurate] altough it is a very clean signal and pure , its very dull , has almost no highend pressence and and mid boost I would suspect arround 300hz, it probally would sound amazing with some strong equalization. BUT compared to the miced room sound , it sounds so much brigher and accurate., its a shamed they didnt include a graphic eq or at minium a tone nob ,

    • @JustinHatt1
      @JustinHatt1  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s all subjective, I understand where you’re coming from though. I still think it is the best pick up option out there for classical guitars. Most pick ups that amplify nylon strings just frankly suck. This by KNA is in my opinion the best sounding and true pure sound for $100. I think you have to give them a try outside of just a TH-cam video. Purchase from Sweetwater, and give it a try. If you aren’t satisfied return it with no risk.

      @@JustinHatt1 @Justin Hatt im not sure about about subjective, more objective . . . there is a strong clear distinction between the live sound when you mic the room and when you ran the signal pure, it definitley is a strong clean signal, no noise , no humming, hissing , but defintiley does not capture the what it sounds like in real life. . your video cleary demonatrates that at 4:10 your playing pure, then 10 seconds later you switched over to mic-ed the room, the difference is night and day, it is a bold statement to say it captures the authentic sound when you switch over the difference is so profound. . . not saying its bad they just need to ad a eq chip and then that thing would phenomenal, funny side note, I just tried to find that that section at 4l10 on my laptop speakers and could not tell where it is it all sounded the same thru shity laptop speaker had to plug the studio headphones back in to find it, it just shows nobody even cares any more every body listens to music on there laptop, cellphone or tiny bluetooth speakers, , making distinguisments between good sound quality and bad sound quality moot. .

    It sticks out too much. It will catch on to something and rip the entire pickup in two pieces.

    • @JustinHatt1
      @JustinHatt1  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe the video doesn’t do a good job of showing it, but it really doesn’t stick out that far. It has a really slender profile that runs stream line with the bridge. I’ve had no issues getting the actual pick up caught on anything. But I will say you have to be mindful of the cord when you are plugging in. It is handy to use the belt clip. Hope that clears up any concerns. Cheers, -JH
