You forgot the most important of the high income skills: marketing.
Without being able to market yourself to businesses you can be a genius in all of these other skills but you won't even be seen; you have to be able to put yourself out there first.

@ZaidKhan-pb3ht that's true but it's not the kind of marketing I mean.
Sure you can make killer texts to convince people to buy that product. But if you don't market that to the companies that want to sell the product; you're not going to have any customers.
The most important skill will always be; being able to find and convince your customers that they need to spend money on you, whether that is a company or an individual.

Having the skills is important… but more important, you've to be able to sell them… and before that, the most important is to be able to find clients/prospects. I would love to ear you on that. Especially when you start from zero (no background, no portfolio, no network, no audience). …And if you don't want to spend years building that as this is not at all what you want to do, if it must be just a quick temporary way of getting money (assuming you have the skills).

I definitely feel like people don't talk about how you can teach yourself skills and actually be successful with customers. I feel like there is a pressure that tells us we can only use and tell people we know something when we have gone to college for it only. I love how this channel has really opened my eyes on the fact that I can continue to learn things even without certificates or degrees and still be successful. Sometimes I feel like it's cheating, but in life it is actually okay to say you know something when you have taught yourself. Too many of us struggle with imposter syndrome which is truly sad and many wonderful people out there can't do what they truly want simply because they think they are not good enough.

My question would be, how do you build skills while you're struggling to meet your daily needs. I'm a college dropout (I have 117 credits and I plan to finish) and right now, my rent alone is 60% of my income and that's the cheapest I could find within commute distance of my job. Luckily, I have affordable housing lined up but for the past few years, affording to take care of myself has been such a struggle that I don't feel like I have the bandwidth to branch out and do anything else. I've tried to teach myself various skills like music production, coding, graphic design, marketing, writing etc. because those are things that actually excite me but literally just surviving takes up so much of my attention that I haven't made very much progress on any of those skills. I know you'll probably say that I should focus on one skill. I will try to bunker down but I have ADHD and that makes it hard to stay interested/motivated in a single topic consistently. Whenever things get hard financially, which is typically once per quarter, I find that any type of attention I have for gaining skills goes out the window. It's already hard enough for me to keep up with daily chores, like groceries, cooking, laundry, and cleaning. I'm working to make these things routine but the ADHD makes it very draining to do chores. What would be your suggestion for balancing all these things in a way that gives me a decent level of progress and feedback which I definitely need to stay motivated.

I had my own business communications company when I was in my 20s. I worked with small businesses in my area, writing annual reports, etc. Then, somehow, I got hooked up with a marketing agency that had some large business-to-business clients. He subcontracted a job to me from an international wall coverings company that sold to firms that built high rises, luxury hotels, resorts. They had a product line of 40 wall coverings, each with three color ways. My job was to come up with names for all of that. OH MY GOD! The money I made for just coming up with names for a bunch of wallpaper! It took me, maybe 15 to 20 hours, and I made a small fortune.

Over the past 10-15 years, I've been building a bunch of high value skills (I didn't realize throughout this time... I was just following skills that interested me).
Marketing (email, organic and FB/IG ads), project management, online business operations (including some popular software programs like Asana, Canva, Convertkit, ActiveCampaign), graphic design, copywriting.
It takes time to learn and practice these, but now I work from home part-time and get the same income as if I was working full time locally.
And I can now use these skills to build something for myself.
It's never a bad idea to learn any/all of these skills. Even if you aren't an expert in one of them, but you know a good amount of each, you will do great and get paid really well!

Ali, your video is great but I fail to see how any of this is relevant. All the people you mentioned are almost pre-AI/market saturation so they were already at an advantage when they started. I also found it interesting that one of the high income skills you mentioned was web design/building while being sponsored by a platform that builds your own website without you needing to code. I usually love your videos but there’s a fine line between putting out content that’s actually relevant and helpful vs just putting out content.

Amazing video Ali, as much as I have learnt most of the skills my only issue has been finding Quality Clients. Like how can we find those businesses making at least 8 figures? I mean not the $5-$10 an hour kind of clients but $1k-10k a month going up. I also do understand you have to be good and provide value and make the business more money but for someone who's starting out and transitioning to the freelance low paying gigs to high paying clients how do you start the search?

Yeah it's an unrealistic video like all of his money ones because he focuses on the ridiculous amount of money a very rare few people are able to make at some of these skills. • @goodsamwise
    @goodsamwise 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

I would love it if you addressed the actual demand for some of these skills more. I'm trying not to automatically be a skeptic or go into all the reasons why something might now work out because I know that mindset will stop me from achieving anything, but it seems like Design (esp ux/ui and web design) is a very very tough market at this point. I've seen youtubers talking about this as well as other forums where senior designers with lots of experience are having a very tough time finding jobs. Granted, you are speaking more as being an entrepreneur but I imagine if a job market is tough for a skill then demand for it in general is down. It also seems like actual hiring for coders/developers is tough. And I'm very curious about the experience of many copywriters in this new AI age. I'm also interested in why you focused on coding to create a product -- it seems like lots of entrpreneurs recommend not doing the coding yourself and focus on the business aspects. Despite my apprehensions thank you for this video, it's given me a lot of inspiration and motivation

It’s all about connecting with the right client. I didn’t really start to make money until I got into the midsize-to-large business-to-business world is where the money is. I got in through hooking up with a marketing agency that happened to have some major clients. Also, a local company that had a unique product that businesses across the whole country use (in this case, circular slide rules). I could write annual reports for teeny local concerns, work ‘way harder, and make nothing-or do less work for a huge company and make 10 times as much. The work still had to be excellent, but it is ‘way less effort to write a three-panel brochure for a national corporation than it is to write, say, annual reports for a local nonprofit. It’s not the market finding you. It’s you finding your market. Persistence, networking and making authentic connections. Learning something about sales is extremely helpful. Even things like Toastmasters builds confidence and teaches you how to present yourself in public.

It is easy to learn at least to start to learn that's why lots of people started to learn it. Online courses, boot camps, schools and other learning places. There are lots of people who know how to code and are unemployed. Of course if u want to give it a try, try it. And if u are serious u can also earn money with it. but its not that easy to find a job like in the past. And I have never heard of a 400k/year junior position before
