rui deng / riden support is amazing i broke my rd6012 one day by backfeeding it voltage by putting two in series and turning off the wrong one first.. i wrote them on aliexpress and asked them for assistance what went wrong. my fault was, when i turned it off it took forever to go to 0V. within a few hours they sent me a picture of the PCB with components marked i should check, turns out that those parts had died. it was a mosfet and a ptc. they told me the part values/numbers and to replace them. ordered them, repaired it. works like new again. never had such a repair friendly support before. just the schematics they keep as a secret.
At 300 watts, without a cooling fan. Obviously, the efficiency is very good. It would be nice if you can throw in some numbers, just for our references. Thanks Kerry, you are the best!

I have a RD DPS5005 which I bought about two years ago. Mine is permanently attached to a breadboard, and is powered by on old B&K bench PSU, It has fewer menu options and no USB or BT but it does the job,
I have a DPS3005 and I love it. Powered by 5S 2P 18650s in a 3D printed enclosure, so totally portable. I use it daily. Very tempted to get one of these though, but would still run it off a battery pack as plugging into the mains is not always convenient.

My question would be .. regarding that overtemperature component.. is it the shunt or the tranzistor/diode/voltage regulator close to it ? I am thinking if is the shunt .. than a swap with a higher power rated one .. would solve this over heating ( or a smaller R .. but this will throw out the ADC readings :-/ ) .

The product says it has 150mHz bandwidth, 1GSa/s, and a whopping16Mpts of storage depth. I have one OWON HDS2202S thanks to your video and it only has 8Kpts of storage depth.
Can I use 3 of this power supply in series to get high DC voltage like 120-140V but all powered from one 48V battery , what should I pay attention to as protection ? Thank you for all educating videos.
Because whether under load or not, it has to turn 60 some volts input into maybe 5v output, which means burning 55v. At 6 amps, that's 330 WATTS of dissipation!!! That's a TON of power to dissipate. Now if you had a PS that changed the input voltage relative to output, so it only burns, say 6 volts (as do those cheap switching PS systems), then you only need to dissipate 30-35W or so max. In that case the heat doesn't happen. But it will cost you to get there, and the performance isn't anything like this unit in that case.
From what I know this is BUCK ONLY, which means the output is at or below the input voltage. Thus, to charge at 39V you need a PS of at least 40v to get there. The 4.4A shouldn't be a problem though (so long as you have a fan to protect the unit - though this review suggests you may not even need that). String 4 of those 12v solar collectors in series and you'd have no problem.
Nice review as usual. If I ignore my new rule to not look at anything without USB C connectors, this thing has a terrible interface, it ought to have 1mV/1mA set capability up to 9.999, and it's kind of noisy even if it's well below spec. It's almost OK, but that USB is a show stopper.
How foolish are you? Since this is a buck (stepdown) converter, having a maximum output of under 20V would make it basically useless. You are probably the only person in the world who thinks that USB-C is mandatory for all equipment.
Looks like your scope was saturating on that first current measurement, second one showed the correct value. It is not clear from your ripple measurements if you were measuring or switching noise or ripple, judging from the bandwidth adjustment I think you may have been seeing switching noise, not the ripple. Also, it would be better to measure ripple under load, not open circuit. You did some load measurements where the output noise could be seen but not measured. You talk about the startup response but not transient response, they could be vastly different. All in all the review was a nice introduction but not useful enough to draw any conclusions.
Yep the current clipped on the scope. The voltage limit was 5V so still should have hit 5A without OCP. And agree with loading the supply for ripple etc
it's not worth buying.. over time the software becomes deregulated and no longer outputs the voltages you request. There is a problem with this product
x1 probe is cheating, it limits the bandwidth more than 20Mhz!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LIke all these digital power supplies, the use is CUMBERSOME!

Hi, would this unit be able to step up the voltage from 12v 9A to 39v 4,4Amps ? That way I could charge my scooter from my solar system.

22m14s... the scope is CLIPPING. i sadly i dont know if your ripple measurement can be trusted if you do such a obvious mistake...
It only looked like it was clipping because he changed the scale after capture, he done the test again with the correct scale
