    They "got away from all that" because like you floated around without saying, it effects the corporate guy in his big leather office chair, because you're getting into their pocket by having interchangeably, and serious quality that keeps you from investing in ANOTHER of their products!!!

    What a great way to start my day, getting an education on Barry Grant carburetors. Thankyou Jed, I did not know, never messed with one, but next time I go to a swap meet, I will have my eye out for one now. I can honestly say the same about Jegs, have never had a bad experience buying anything from them, they do think about there customers in a positive way. Thanks again for that one.

    I had terrible results with the first Barry Grant product I bought, a Speed Demon 750DP. I bought it brand new from the BG tent at a NHRA event, sealed in the box. I put it on my 360 powered Demon street car (3.91 gears, 3000 stall, MP .528" solid lifter cam, J-heads, headers, etc.), replacing a 750 Edelbrock. It was pig rich and never outperformed the old AFB design. I called BG (not Holley at that time) and talked to tech, and they insisted I needed a 650 (I did notice that the Speed Demon's venturi and throttle blades were way bigger than a 4779 Holley) with my "radical" small block (it idled with 15"hg vacuum with the Edelbrock). They said it was really for a big block, so I tried it on my 440 powered Coronet with a MP .509" cam and it was still pig rich!! I fiddled with power valves and the idle feed restrictors, and every sort of adjustment, and never made it run well. Then they came out with that "Idle-Eze" air adjustment under the center stud hole, but I was already burned. SInce then I have bought Street Demons and King Demons with good results. Thanks for the informative video Jed!!

    Scotts Speed Shop I loved the Demon Carb when I first saw them. First one I bought was the 650 Speed Demon. I replaced it with the 750 Mighty Demon. I still run the 750 to this date. One thing you said incorrectly about the bowl sites is the Pre Holley Demons did not have the snap ring to lock them. Mine has the snap rings and I bought mine way way before Holley F'ed them up. I think I bought mine back in 2004 or 2005. I believe Holley changed the fuel bowl inlets too and Holley put their throttle blade lever on the current Demons. I still wish I had the money back then to buy a King Demon with the replaceable venturies . You forgot to mention Demon also was the first to make the carb with the IDLE EZ screw so you don't have to drill hole in the butterflies for more air at idle.
    I still have the original instruction video somewhere - that was a cheesy video. You can still watch them on TH-cam. Now that the dad of Quick Fuel sold out to Mr Gasket/Holley , I am looking at ATM carbs. The kids of Quick Fuel made ATM and damn these are nice and the price is so good.

    know 8 or nine guys who bought Demons, i worked on all of them except 1 that ran exceptionally well. My friend Larry had a 850 demon on his Fox body w/514cube BBF it ran best of 10.62 pump gas street car. I swapped a 9 in stock housing for a box of Holley stuff & built an a 4781 850 double pumper that i did my mods to.I asked him if i could put it on his car because it was very consistant i jetted it 1 size bigger on both ends & it went 10.47's the rest of the night....i built one for him & he sold the Demon...

    Hey Scott , great video on these carbs ! In the book , Demon Carburetion , on pg 55 , there's a column on the left - King R / S Demons . Does a King Demon like this exist with such small venturii - 1.064 " ( green ) and 1.280 " ( red ) , or is it a misprint ?
    To have this carb would be awesome for 1:1 throttle linkage in a smaller sgl plane intake !
    Thanks and would love to know if any of these are still around .

    • @ScottsSpeedShop
      @ScottsSpeedShop  24 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @MartinOttlyk-xe6yi yes they do exist actually, I've got the one 4150 barry grant, and two king demon RS carbs along with a huge selection of interchangable venturi's, those really small ones take a special base plate if memory serves right, but finding these carbs is tough and finding them at decent prices is even harder. Was gonna run the king demons on a hemi but plans have changed so I'd possibly sell them

If you want one, the best thing to do is to search Demon carburetor, or barry grant carburetor on ebay, that's all I've done along with Facebook marketplace. I'll see if I can find a rumber.
