Ilari Pekkala did keep speedrunning. He's one of the best known Goldeneye runners.
He's even set some Perfect Dark I records this past week.

7:30 31 star was the first speedrun I ever attempted way back in 2012, it's a terrible time now but I was so impressed at my just over an hour time.

@@Mammonocalypse Not necessarily the first person but I do wanna get all 182 at one point, even if I'm not the first (Although I definitely have a commanding lead lol, 2nd highest star count is a japanese player called Rhymew555 with 156, I have 172)
Don't worry about becoming a reactor.
The problem with reactors normally is that they are mostly some guys just sitting in front of a camera and make easy money watching something they don't really have a clue about.
You are an expert at SM64 Speedruns - F*** it, you are one of THE experts! If someone mentions a WR in SM64, the first question normally is: "Cheese or Simply? Or Liam? Or Batora? (Etc.)"
You know the stuff, in the moment you are inspiring me to try one of my favorite games of all time as a Speedrun too, and hearing you explain stuff happening and also saying things like "Lakitu is a very bad strat", it helps me a lot to learn.
Reaction-videos should be done by people actually knowing what they are watching, and you, Sir, are one of these.

31 star and 50 star!!! I’ve been wishing for these categories to get some popularity for a while. SM64 is a good enough game that more categories wouldn’t dilute the competition or viewership. I say this as a casual player and hardcore spectator of sm64 speedrinning

Have you ever considered putting in the time for a wr for any of the any% records? I think you could do it but it's probably like a completely different game for you at that point
Cheese has done 16 star and 70 in the past, idk if he's ever done 1 or 0 star, he's done a few 16 and 70 star races and stuff, idk if he's ever held a record in either tho

I'm surprised, why does everyone watch summoning salt as ASMR. This is universal.
I don't remember if a category exists for it or not but I'd love to see a 70 star run which allows a lot of the glitches. I know Mips clip is banned in 70 star but I do think having a run where you needed all 70 but could basically get any 70 with only the BLJ to Bowser in the Sky banned.

My first introduction to speedrunning came from...let's say an adult website. All I remember is that the logo was a cactus.
I was just into high school around that time, so 12-14 and like most kids I hid that I knew these websites existed.
So I sat and watched a SM64 speedrun, I think it was a TAS 16 star run.
I wanted to show this cool video to my older brothers...but of course I had to find alternatives to it. I don't remember if Google had bought TH-cam at this point in time or if Google Video was still around.
Eventually I did find the video and showed my older brothers.
I am the only one who still watches speedruns/speedrunners, but I always laugh when I see a SM64 video.
Who were the splicers?

7:30 I think, my potential answer to that is that people most often only care for the very first and/or the very last big obstacle of a run. Meaning by accomplishing the unlocking of at least ONE of the star doors, it perhaps feels unnecessary for them to sort of repeat that feat, so they'd rather decide to skip it...
I could be totally wrong though... Lol

I'm 30 this year and bro listen to this, when i was a real young kid and had my N64, i would cycle into town on my bike and go to this stand that sold old magazines (old issues) 3 for 1 GBP and buy a bunch and cycle home and then just hope the game info i wanted was in one of them.
