Obituary are pioneers of old school death metal from Florida. Not thrash at all. Check out their earlier stuff from Slowly we Rot (1989) & Cause of Death (1990)
OBITUARY is one of the pioniers of good ol‘ Florida Death Metal, formed in the mid-80‘s in Tampa! Speed Metal is very similar to Thrash imo… The melodies are just more „catchier“ 😂
HEY! Wow ... FINALLY we're get to see the guys From All the Way from Tampa, FL ... OBITUARY Balász Gróf does the artwork NEXT video a MUST WATCH Right after THIS one is ' Ten Thousand Ways to Die ' (* it's a continued version of THIS video & as always, funny) 🤘🏻😆 " DEUCES! " ✌🏻😸✌🏻
These guys put out a great follow-up video, accompanied by a great song, "10,000 Ways To Die"... If you liked this one, you'd love that one... Thanks for the reaction, regardless. Loved this one too...
Obituary debuted in 1989 w/ 'Slowly we rot' before there was even a genre called 'death metal'... They were from Florida and they became part of the first wave of death metal bands in the early 90's alongside band like Death... Deicide... Cannibal Corpse... Morbid Angel... Malevolent Creation... Suffocation... etc. They all started as thrash metal bands but consciously made an effort to increase the intensity and brutality of their music and the death metal genre was born... 'Violence' is a recent track by Obituary from 2014 from the album 'inked in Blood'... and the animated video was made for the single... Obituary also made a cartoon promo video for the co-headlining tour w/ Abbath (former Immortal vocalist/ guitarist) which was real funny too... 😂 Some of Obituary's other tracks - 'Insane'... 'The end complete' ... 'Ten thousand ways to die' ... 'Barely alive'... 'Chopped in half' 💀💀🤘🤘 Formed in Tampa, Florida in 1984 under the name Xecutioner, changed to Obituary in 1989 ...The core of the line-up has always been brothers John Tardy (vocals) and Donald Tardy (drums) w/ Trevor Peres (rhythm guitar)... The band changed members frequently w/ lead guitarists James Murphy, Allen West, (the late) Ralph Santolla... and bassists (the late) Frank Watkins, Steve DiGiorgio... (Coincidentally, both James Murphy and Steve DiGiorgio became members of Testament) The current Obituary line-up includes Terry Butler (bass) and Kenny Andrews (lead guitar) who were animated in the clip 😂 Obituary got fanfare quickly w/ their 2nd album 'Cause of death' in 1990... followed by 'The end complete' (1992) and 'World demise' (1994)... However, internal conflicts put Obituary on hiatus by 1995... they returned briefly in 1997 w/ the album 'Back from the dead'... but remained inactive. In 2005, the members of Obituary finally reunited and released the comeback album 'Frozen in time'... w/ Allen West (lead guitar) and Frank Watkins (bass)... but Allen West struggled w/ alcoholism and legal problems - he was fired by 2006. The band also parted ways w/ longtime label Roadrunner Records and released 2 more albums on a new label - "Xecutioner's Return" (2007) and 'Darkest Day' (2009) Despite financial problems, Obituary persisted and returned w/ a crowd-funded album 'Inked in blood' (2014) w/ bassist Terry Butler and lead guitarist Kenny Andrews joining... They kept touring and released the self-titled 'Obituary' album in 2017. Obituary have been actively touring recently after releasing their 2023 album 'Dying of everything'.
Oh wow Obituary. As many already said they are old school and pioneers withing DEATH METAL. To get to their real nature i suggest you guys take a tune from either Cause Of Death album or Slowly We Roth album. And this is the newer Obituary not a re-release song.
Kings of Thrash Metal ... Speed, Death, whatever it's just great Metal Obituary from Tampa, FL BUT, anyways ... T/Y for letting Thrash Talkers / Rapper's React For THIS 🤘🏻😆👍🏻
here's a newer group Babymonster with singers and rappers 7 members but 1 was sick for 2 videos including 1st debut Batter Up and the 2nd song a ballad called Stuck in the midd;e before the 2nd debut with all 7 girls on Sheesh then Like That also released on their Ep Dream pre debut song another pre album song is their latest song Forever released before the album in the 2nd half of this year,
Coming from a guy who has seen a lot of metal shows..Obituary absolutely KILL live. No band I’ve ever seen has such a tight, organic, primal yet dynamic rhythmic drive to them. Never a wasted note, riff, lead, scream, beat, nothing! These icons of old school Florida death metal are constantly making you want to bang your head off at one speed or the other. Most of their songs are more mid tempo to slow mid with fast sections that sound like “Violence” in between. If you dive deeper into Obituary expect more groovy southern guitar riffing and more thunderous drum beats from these guys than rare fast songs like this.
Turned Inside Out -live !!! Its grainy but it was Obituary when relatively new . One crazy stage diving chaos of a moshpit ! But The songs Cause of Death (the song that got me hooked is SO badass) , The End Complete , Don't Care , Kill for Me , Chopped in Half , Find the Arise , Im in Pain etc... are bangers . And for the love of metal , who ever told you they were thrash is dead wrong . One of the forefathers of Death Metal . Check out their older stuff . A totally more brutal feel . Some is really slow and doomy and then breaks loose in faster tangents . But his vox used to sound WAAYY sicker !!!! Trust me .
Obituary would not be part of the Big 4. Maybe Overkill could be part of that, but since Obituary is death metal and not thrash, they are nothing like the big 4...this song is on the faster side of how Obituary usually sounds...
One of the first death metal bands, they don’t belong in the big 4. Slowly we rot is what you should check out. I might say they had some influence from the accused
Speed Metal and Thrash are the same thing technically. Both terms were used to describe the same thing with different groups using one term or the other. Thrash is simply the term that was more popular.
Obituary isn't thrash, they are old school Florida death metal. 2) The difference between speed and thrash is very slight. Speed metal incorporates cleaner vocals than thrash. The first wave of Death Metal certainly has more of a thrash sound than later generations of DM, as Death Metal as these bands are a direct descendant of thrash. Band like Death, Obituary, Morbid Angel, Deicide all display hints of thrash to them.
it's been a long time since you gave a reaction to avenged sevenfold, can you give a reaction to avenged sevenfold a little piece of heaven live in lbc
Riffs are pure death metal for the most part that thrash never had. Lot's of hardcore punk influence as well. Thrash will always have a face within death metal tho as it was the influence for DM.
I mean... They are Death metal, but this song in particular is definetly "thrashier". A lot of the old school death metal bands have a lot of similatiries with thrash, but they usually have lower tunings and heavier growls. But you know... Fans get butthurt with dump shit..
Request #328293 for you guys to check MALEVOLENCE - REMAIN UNBEATEN if you like some rap mixed with amazing hardcore/metal you should check that one out!
Please do yourself a favor and check out "Bow Down" by (the 12 year old) Harper and Kasey Karlsen. The song is originally by I Prevail, but Harper and Karlsen's version is far superior.
This definitely has a call back to the early days of Death Metal which were heavily thrash influenced hence the tempo And punkish drumming because all things were in flux in that particular era I'm talking like 86 87 what is really Proto death metal being played by bands like Possessed, Celtic Frost, and Mantas (who would become Death). Obituary do in fact go back almost that far and are pioneers in what was considered early death metal they still have an active career like their Brethren bands Cannibal Corpse Morbid Angel etc. Now I would like to apologize on behalf of old school metalers who understand why you would make the comparison to thrash with this particular track, there is no need to jump on you guys for "blah blah blah it's death metal blah blah blah "Etc. As you know and have been discovering on your journey metal is riddled with infinite sub-genres and people love to debate what is and isn't this or that but the truth of the matter is this stuff sounds like thrash and I get it. Anyway, cheers and now Hollywood can validate actually wearing that t-shirt.
This is not the best song to introduce you to Obituary in my opinion . And I LOVE this band and have since 1990 when I heard Slowly we Rot . But Cause of Death sealed the deal for me . The album and the song by the same name . I love that riff , so heavy, catchy and fun to play !
I mean obituary aren't thrash but they're also pretty close lol like honestly this video alone is very trashy lol they're one of the few death metal bands who don't mind getting silly lol
Obituary is death metal. Old school

Obituary is not thrash. They are death metal. Ya'll are thinking about Overkill.
Part of the ‘next four’, in my opinion, Exodus. The song ‘Children of a Worthless God’ is a great thrash track!

Obituary is one of the first death metal bands, check "I don't care" video.
This video is awesome. I really like the cartoon animation that is dope AF.
See what ' magazines ' they're reading ...
This original video came out around 2014. Newer stuff like this is more thrashy compared to the older stuff
You should check out Visions In My Head. Another great song from the album.
The End Complete is such a killer song
underrated snare sound on that album too! smackin!
