I’ve been building one the past 2 months, threw almost 700 into it😂😂 almost done. 390cc engine with a torque converter which is gonna make it faster. Spent 250 on some nice slick racing wheels
@@slightlyMADcustoms same same. My engine works and dang it’s powerful😂 I just have to put the engine on, and put the pedals and gas and brake cables and it’s done.
Ahh I’m building my own at 11 years old, using my brothers old motor it needs a clean up , brakes, and some gas and it ready to go! Although the hardest part is prob gonna be getting engine onto the thing
I picked up a axle locally from a transmission shop. It was 1” keyed steel, I probably got like 3 feet of it then cut to size on the cart. For steering I ordered knuckles off of BMI karts
We found ours on the curb by a bus stop. Just prowl around the train tracks / bus stop with a truck for 30 mins and you’ll find one. Although they do come in all sorts of shapes and sizes. We used a Walmart one
Thanks! Right now it just has a piece of 1” pipe for the wheels to ride on. I think we’ll probably just weld something up when we need a axle. I saw some kits offered on Amazon and Princess auto tho. Probably not a bad idea
How much would this cost to make? I'm not really worried about time but I'm 14 and me and my firmed want to make one of these (I'm kind of broke lol) thanks!
It gets more expensive than you’d think. But really depends on the motor, and how much metal you need to buy. It was about $1000 to build a rolling chassis, then probably another $1000 to get it driving
oh mannn i want a go kart for commuting so badd because i live uphill and i want something for commuting and this is the coolest option but the good go karts are super expensive but the non expensive ones are for little kids
You definitely could make it out of wood. The nice thing about welding is there will be less flex in the chassis which makes the steering nicer. You can pick up a hobby welder for a couple hundred. Could be a great opportunity to learn!
Please can you guys make another video of completing this masterpiece I know I'm a bit inpatient but I can't help it this has hyped me up so bad I wanna see the end result so bad and I wanna see you guys shred some tires with that masterpiece💪
It was all custom. Just search up basic steering linkages for go karts. There’s also go kart parts websites that will sell you steeeint knuckles and kits
Kingpin welds to the kart and set the wheel caster and camber. Spindle bolts to the kingpin and pivots off the kingpin for steering and gives a place for the wheel to spin freely
Can you please do a full tutorial please I really really want to buy one but I don't have enough money so I would like to build one myself and get some experience
No need for engines, just turn it into a Billy Cart/Soapbox. I’ve made two of them out of shopping trolleys(with varied success) and they’re crowd favourites
You could theoretically make two go karts from one shopping cart, use the basket part and then use the smaller part on the bottom as a frame for a second small one lmao
I'm not sure if you still use this account, but if you do, could you please tell me what you used for the steering mechanism? I am trying to construct my own shopping go kart with a friend and this is my first project with any sort of vehicle, I will take any help i can get to figure this out.
Ya google “BMI Karts spindle”. We got a set of those along with some wheels and tires. The rest was custom made, trying googling “basic go kart steering” for inspiration
It was all custom made. But you can grab pre-made spindles from a online go kart store. Research caster angle so you know how the spindles need to be installed
This is awesome. Similar to a rabbit hole I have been down since I have a 7.5hp lawnmower that the deck is all rusted out but the engine is still strong. I have been researching how to mod it from a horizontal drive to a vertical drive that could power some wheels.
Trying to do the same thing lookin for some tips. Glad this wasn’t made like 50 years ago like the other vids😂 Keep up the great work.(P.S nice filming)
My son and I started building one a week ago idk what I'm doing ha ha but hopefully we'll figure it out and videos like yours I just found will help give tips for our build!
I made a shopping cart go kart inspired by Kyle from Boostedboiz a couple years ago. I got a few videos of it on my channel, got the kart up to 79km/h (49mph) on the top speed run! It's got Brembo brakes from a Yamaha r6 but the engine was a cheapo snow blower that I got for a really good deal... Got some new parts for it though! I think I might be posting again soon. These are some great little karts to rip around and they look super cool!
