Game Gear is awesome! Grew up as a small kid in the mid 90s with one, thought it was the greatest thing to play on the go especially the Sonic games. My original one shitted out on me years ago and within the last 5 years I hunted down and restored a Majesco made Game Gear. Its all original as those didnt suffer bad capacitor issues as the Sega made ones did, only thing i really had to do to restore it was detail it and order a new glass replacement screen for it to match its OG mono colored screen so it looks original again. Was just playing it yesterday and yeah I check my consoles from time to make sure theyre still working good. Like your red Game Gear looks cool in Red, that McWill updated Sonic custom Game Gear is also sweet
I grew up with a gameboy and one of my mates had a game gear absolutely loved that machine, there’s something special about a game gear. I’ve modded a few gamegears and they are fun to mod.
@Retro-cabin that's awesome! Yeah I'd like to get a McWill modded Game Gear in Original Sports Edition Blue or Coca Cola Red but way too expensive! My Majesco is holding up well for now and far as the Game Gear Sonic titles I can still play them on the go on my Nintendo Switch since I got the Sonic Origins Plus game on there so still a win win for me
Dude im pretty jealous hey, i remember as a kid when the Gameboy and the Game Gear both came out, i wanted a Game Gear so much but could not afford one 😢. I remember buying a clear Play It Loud series DMG Gameboy in around 95 or 96 but my heart was always with the Game Gear. Ive got multiple DMG Gameboy's, my original clear Play It Loud, a 2nd clear one, a green Play It Loud, and x2 original Game Boys which u modified both, white case though ones got black buttons, the other is fully white with white buttons, white screen protector and a colour screen. Im kinda tempted to buy a couple of Game Gears too, though one i will completely modify and the other keep standard
Same as me I can remember wanting a game gear or lynx because they was colour, but my parents could only afford a game boy it was £99.00. Now who’s laughing 30 years later I’ve got them😂.
I’ve got a couple stock gamegears but they are really fun to mod. And retrosix have loads of screens cases e.t.c. I’ve got two modded game boys that I’ve modded and two stock. Have you seen the new funnyplaying game boy colour fpga, I’ve got one coming hopefully next week looks like an easy build.

All my gamegears I have recapped and the two with new lcd screeens I have replaced with ceramic capacitors. I wanted to do the video because even you recap them years of sitting there not being used other components can fail. The red one Ive modded seems to have developed a dodgy potentiometer brightness wheel. I will reflow the joints to see if that fixes it👍🏻.

sadly all those gamegears capacitors will leak and corode all the solder pads

O Game Gear era imensamente melhor que o Game boy, infelizmente não vendeu tanto quanto o console da Nintendo.
