Read Surah Al Kalf ch 18 carefully,. It tells us who is the Dajal. The HP(saw) is reported to have said reading of the first and last 10 verses of Surah Kalf protects one against the onslaught of the Dajal.

If your Iman relies only on intellectual proofs without a deep spirituality, then you open your self for Dajjalic intellectual warfare conquest, because the true relationship with Allah is not based on logic. Logic is one of the tools for beginners, on which he/she builds and evolves beyond logic and intellectual proof, to the dropping of logic and intellectual information to being a true aware servant/slave of his Lord and Sustainer.
Sometimes it's sad to think that true peace will only be achieved in the last days with the return of Isa ibn Maryam peace be upon him, and even then only about 40 years or so. But, well, this is Allah's plan, and He is the best planner.
Paul - hope you can have a scholarly discussion about the wisdom behind the severed lineage of Jesus a.s (created without a father) and its divine motive in shaping the escathological future. Also to counter once and for all the idea (amongst jews/atheist) that Mary’s pregnancy was unholy, based on their rule of plausibility. On the first point, I personally think it is to distinguish between the mysterious judeo-christian king messiah (David’s a.s lineage) and Jesus a.s the islamic messiah.

I'm a Muslim and I love Paul and Dr. Ali but there are a lot of huge issues that were lumped into this talk as if they are settled fact that made me feel uncomfortable. These conspiracy theories about Covid and climate change being bundled into the talk is disconcerting. Not to say that there might not be some truth to these theories and fears but talking about it so dismissively is not helpful to anyone and makes me doubt the fact-checking of Dr. Ali in general.
Just a thought What if Dajjal is just a metaphorical term and since Dajjal sees only through one eye, does it mean seeing through a turn of events only from one perspective ? The actual reason we have 2 eyes is so that we can see in 3 dimensions and if we only had one eye, like Dajjal, we could not see the third dimension without having to move. So the second eye means a second perspective. And since we say Dajjal would establish chaos in this world, chaos would be established if we start looking at events only from the perspective of one people (hence the one eye metaphorical term), and not through other people's perspectives (seeing with the second eye). If we start seeing through other's perspective (the second eye), only then true peace would be established in this world.

its nice to see an islamic scholar understand the finer issues. in surah al-kahf Moses finds himself in between 2 streams of knowledge. One is the religious law, and the other is the esoteric knowledge. I find the islamic community often neglects the second area of knowledge. Al-Khidr represented that type of knowledge. He was also very close to God.

IMHO and unless I can be convinced - note I am no scholar - I suspect the hadith on dajjaal are largely figurative. I suspect we can all easily compare these hadith to several experiences today. In addition, can anyone understand and explain Allah swt bestowing a person with these powers of miracles simply to increase fitnah? Surely human beings and shaitan are already doing the job? Ultimately, the message is to have strong certainty in our aqeedah and strengthen our iman irrespective of the zeitgeists of the day. If the hadith are literal, then I'm still watching. Sheikh Imran Hossein is the only pioneer in islamic escatology in this day and age in my humble opinion . Others don't even come close with all due respect. The book 'Jerusalem in the Quran' is the reference in this field of knowledge of the end times. You should get in touch and invite him while he is still alive .

This is a very important topic and I really appreciate the input on it. Unfortunately, a good example emerges here of how the idea that Dajjal is actually using tricks and technology (which is very likely) or is not human at all stems in part (!) from a psychological state that is dominant in people with a general tendency towards conspiracy theories. This tendency leads to a preference for views that deviate from the mainstream because this better reflects the epistemic, existential and social motives of conspiracy believers. Also to counter once and for all the idea (amongst jews/atheist) that Mary’s pregnancy was unholy, based on their rule of plausibility. On the first point, I personally think it is to distinguish between the mysterious judeo-christian king messiah (David’s a.s lineage) and Jesus a.s the islamic messiah.

I'm a Muslim and I love Paul and Dr. Ali but there are a lot of huge issues that were lumped into this talk as if they are settled fact that made me feel uncomfortable. These conspiracy theories about Covid and climate change being bundled into the talk is disconcerting. Not to say that there might not be some truth to these theories and fears but talking about it so dismissively is not helpful to anyone and makes me doubt the fact-checking of Dr. Ali in general.

What if Dajjal is just a metaphorical term and since Dajjal sees only through one eye, does it mean seeing through a turn of events only from one perspective ? The actual reason we have 2 eyes is so that we can see in 3 dimensions and if we only had one eye, like Dajjal, we could not see the third dimension without having to move. So the second eye means a second perspective. And since we say Dajjal would establish chaos in this world, chaos would be established if we start looking at events only from the perspective of one people (hence the one eye metaphorical term), and not through other people's perspectives (seeing with the second eye). If we start seeing through other's perspective (the second eye), only then true peace would be established in this world.

its nice to see an islamic scholar understand the finer issues. in surah al-kahf Moses finds himself in between 2 streams of knowledge. One is the religious law, and the other is the esoteric knowledge. I find the islamic community often neglects the second area of knowledge. Al-Khidr represented that type of knowledge. He was also very close to God.
Islamic eschatology is one of the most interesting studies that every brothers and sisters should know about - remember al-Kahfi, hoping that our iman is strong enough to deflect the blasphemous lies by the Great Deceiver during the End of Days.

IMHO and unless I can be convinced - note I am no scholar - I suspect the hadith on dajjaal are largely figurative. I suspect we can all easily compare these hadith to several experiences today. In addition, can anyone understand and explain Allah swt bestowing a person with these powers of miracles simply to increase fitnah? Surely human beings and shaitan are already doing the job? Sheikh Imran Hossein is the only pioneer in islamic escatology in this day and age in my humble opinion . Others don't even come close with all due respect. The book 'Jerusalem in the Quran' is the reference in this field of knowledge of the end times.

He spent his life on this topic of Dajjal, but the problem is, he does not talk like western university professors, and as much as he got some superb hypothesis bang on target, he also got a few wrongs. But kudos to him. He is a brave pioneer, when everyone was basically sleeping on this topic. With passage of time, his many insights are shining brighter than ever. Paul, can you handle that? If you do, then interviewing him is absolutely worth it.
It's doubtful if Imran hossein is even a Muslim. He has said things like the devil influenced and inserted verses into the Quran. I don't know if he has retracted those statements but he definitely made them publicly in his videos.

Unfortunately, a good example emerges here of how the idea that Dajjal is actually using tricks and technology (which is very likely) or is not human at all stems in part (!) from a psychological state that is dominant in people with a general tendency towards conspiracy theories. This tendency leads to a preference for views that deviate from the mainstream because this better reflects the epistemic, existential and social motives of conspiracy believers.
