    It would be nice (since they say spotlight) if they re-release the three girl’s outfits quarterly. Like school outfit in the fall, holiday outfit in winter etc.
    The point about Molly/Grandparents also rings true. My grandma was in the service and used Molly’s story to connect with us.

    I feel like the "Heritage" moniker is meant to apply to the OG dolls specifically, as a way to separate them from the newer historical dolls.
    As for future releases for them, it seems like AG is strongly suggesting that more of Kirsten, Addy, and Josefina's collections will be released over the next year because they are spotlighted.
    I'd be willing to bet that next year (2025) will spotlight Samantha in a similar way (because she is so popular), and then 2026 will spotlight Felicity to celebrate America's 250th Birthday. We may also get Caroline, too, because she is another 'patriotic' doll from the War of 1812. If AG is smart, this would make the most sense.

      About the “Heritage “ term - maybe, AG hasn’t released an official statement, not even on the rebrand, and the rebrand has been slowly rolling in.

      The release schedule are you suggesting makes sense, but I am not sure AG will follow it, they don’t always make the most logical decisions.

    I'm pretty sure, as someone else, mentioned, that "heritage" characters refers specifically to the Pleasant Company era girls and not all their historical girls. Every time AG's social media account used that word, it was referring to those original characters. Now that the first generation of American Girl fans are grown up and nostalgia for the 80s, 90s, and early 2000s is huge, American Girl is finally embracing their past and leaning into that nostalgia. We are finally getting throwbacks and nods to the Pleasant Company era that I grew up in. I'm loving it!

    Thanks for doing this video. I saw the word “heritage” in one of the responses from AG the other day and thought it was a typo, but now I see it isn’t. I personally don’t like that term and it doesn’t make sense for them to switch out Historical for Heritage. What’s the point? With a whole rebranding going on keep some things constant. Historical, GOTY, etc are all true and tested terms that reference a swath of dolls. Just my opinion. The word heritage doesn’t seem to fit as a naming standard for a batch of dolls. I could go on and on since I don’t care for a renaming of the historical line. Now I forgot other things you asked for feedback on lol. 😊

    My guess is that the "Heritage" line is when they bring back previously released dolls in their original outfits. I'm guessing that all of the other historicals will still be called "historical". Yes, I definitely think that they were just responding back to the commenter named Courtney. Would have been better if they would have phrased it with her name at the beginning of the sentence instead of the end to avoid the confusion, but hindsight is 20/20. I hope they do come out with school books and outfits and also Christmas books and outfits, but it would be really nice if the books were sold separately and the outfits were less than $55. Thanks for the update!

I’m just here on pins and needles for Felicity. That’s my last remaining heritage girly I’ve wanted for yrs but never purchased. I don't really have much of a problem with using the Heritage title. I get what they mean when they say it (but I'll end up probably sticking with Historical as it's what I'm used to and in the habit of saying.) Overall, it feels like they're trying to gradually dip their toe into the pool of bringing back the historical dolls. I don't know if I'd like to see Cecile back because the Sonali mold isn't cute anymore (the eyes are just too close together so unless they can make her look like the original, I'll be skipping.) It kind of sucks that only adults seem to care about the historical girls when the whole entire point of the AG line under PC was to get girls interested in history from a girl's perspective of that era.

    • @rainbowunicorncat1
      @rainbowunicorncat1  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      I think there are still plenty of kids interested in the historical aspect, but the company is so much bigger now and they can only grow if they cover other audiences (including the kids not interested in history at all). IMO being a smaller boutique company PC could focus on just the historical side, but AG cannot afford that.

      @@rainbowunicorncat1 I just don't want them to turn AG into another Barbie-style brand. I wasn't happy with Julie's "crochet" school outfit when it came to the odd color scheme. It's like they're afraid of the 70s colors which were more warm, earthy and autumnal, mustard yellows, greens, browns oranges, teals etc. And that roller skating outfit looked like it was more appropriate for Courtney (and as you mentioned in the video, most of Courtney's outfits were not accurate to what a child in the 80s would have worn and felt more like a halloween costume, similar to the restyle of Julie's meet outfit.) I do realize they have to diversify. I'm not opposed to the contemporary dolls and their items, but they can still try to branch out and not have everything be pink purple and turquoise. Don't mean to rant, overall I'm still happy they're bringing back Addy and Kirsten.

    Alright! Here's a pitch for a historical doll!
    Name: Ruth Myers
    Year: 1968
    Description: Ruth is a physically disabled ten-year-old girl who lives in Des Moines, IA in the late 60s. Because she is wheelchair-bound, many at school make fun of her and believe she should be sent away and institutionalized. The only one who doesn’t think so is her friend Wendy (her neighbor who is 7 years older than her) who enjoys running races with Ruth and has taught Ruth to race by pushing the wheels on her wheelchair quite quickly. As Ruth gets better and better at racing, she tells Wendy she wishes for a chance to show the world her disability should not define her. She gets her wish when she hears about Eunice Kennedy Shriver, the sister of former president John F. Kennedy, gathering disabled people from all over the world to participate in her "Special Olympics". These games will be held at Soldier Field in Chicago and Ruth wants to compete more than anything in the world. The only question is if her parents would be willing to let her out of their protective grasp so she can show the world her skills.
    I've always wanted a doll who covers disabled history, and what better way to do it than by telling the story of the founding of Special Olympics (one of the biggest disability based social movements out there)! Ruth could even spread diversity by having a box adapted to fit her wheelchair. What's more? She would be a perfect way for AG to partner with both Special Olympics and possibly the Paralympics (like Barbie once did in 2000 with the release of Paralympic Champion Becky) for a variety of new merchandise! Plus, Wendy could be sold as a best friend doll if AG ever decides to bring those back.
    What do you guys think? Would you be interested in a character like that if AG made it?

      (Second try, sometimes I hit the wrong place.)
      Your story made me cry, I got so excited. In one simple word YES! Just like my Aunt who had survived polio from the 1946/8 polio epidemic that unalived so many children. My grandparents moved from their farm in Washington State to Southern California so that she could get the best therapy and be able to attend normal public school. My aunt fought so hard to be free from wheelchair, braces and crutches. She was absolutely thrilled about the MaryEllen doll, when I told her about her.
      You should contact the story team at American Girl and talk about pitching your story. It has an excellent story base. Wendy could even have Downs Syndrome or some other physically noticeable disability, as they were early participants of the Special Olympics. I was a Red Cross Youth Volunteer at the Special Olympics in Los Angeles in 1972, when the third games was hosted at UCLA. As one of the younger volunteers. I fought very hard to become one, and took part in all the volunteer training, most were in university or high school. I remember it to this day.
      I so keep hoping for an American girl doll who is vision impaired, either as a historical or GOTY to highlight all the children who became either blind or deaf or both from complications of childhood diseases like measles and scarlet fever. Perhaps a student at the Perkins Institute.

    • @taylorwelch444
      @taylorwelch444 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I would definitely like this considering I’m have a disability I’m like why can’t they do more doll characters with disabilities they did Joss who is hearing impaired and there’s plenty of ideas I talked about it with my boss who was a special education teacher and they could also mention accessibility issues that people with disabilities have to go through every day 24/7/ 365 days a year currently helping my community trying to make my town more accessible with the help of my colleague. I was born with a rare disability called Chromosome 18p- it’s not very common.
      I have several books on popular historical figures who had disabilities like one of my favorite’s is Helen Keller I remember from when I was in third grade computer class we had to write a report on someone from history that we admired so we went to school library and I asked my classmate who has a disability EDS and I asked her I wonder if there’s a person in history with a disability and she’s like I don’t know there probably is and I went to look and a book with kinda of bright colors I knew by the illustration it was a picture book about Helen Keller and years later I find out she’s one of my ancestors via my mom’s side along with Laura Ingalls we share a descendant in common George Mason. Kind of interesting but cool.
