as a history buss/doll collector... me too T.T i feel for him also... i grew up on these dolls he had an american girl OC basically. there was no 1920's doll :P and the closet would be 1930"s depression era kit. he had created an entire back story for her though :P
M. Ivy Luna i love how they referred to Kirsten as the 1920’s doll when the actual doll is based around the mid 1800’s... also Josefina is from the 1920’s but her stories take place in New Mexico.... okay yeah I’m too big of a nerd to watch AG parodies lol
Aminah Aziz, I don’t know, seems like Kyle can only play Kyle. (Like Leslie could only be herself.) To me Cecily and Mikey seem like they’re probably the most versatile and talented. Followed by Kate and Heidi and Alex, not necessarily but probably in that order, and Kyle and Pete and Bowen, in that order, at the bottom of the list with precious little real talent, and everyone else in between somewhere. “I HAVE SPOKEN!” Just kidding, only my opinions of course.
Just give Leslie cue cards. This chick has no comedy/improv/humor skills whatsoever. She'd fck up a two word line. "Just because a grown man collects dolls it doesn't mean he a predator" She struggled mightily with those lines. God forbid she's in an extended skit.
She was born in New York and lived there until she was a little child, she has spent a lot of time in the US in the last few years and she is a pretty great actress so it’s not really a surprise that she can do a good accent.
The brilliance of the skit is the end, with Beck’s character knowing a second location for that store 🤣🤣 we’ll never know if it’s because he’s got kids or if he, too, is a doll aficionado lmfao
I love the double layer of this joke. The fact that he's a grown man with an American girl doll is goofy, but I love how everyone keeps getting derailed by that instead of the gas explosion. lol
I actually thought this was a cute sketch. The dialogue is delivered in a natural, very funny way. To people reading to much into this...stop. It's just a guy that likes dolls, but knows that society thinks that's weird and tries not to let everyone know. Pretty simple.
The whole point of this sketch is for the audience to feel the discomfort of the guy since he is unable to freely admit he likes dolls. Also, you see the characters caring more about his fascination with dolls instead with the issue at hand (the explosion). SNL is condemning double standards since well...who cares if you like dolls or not? It's a great skit really. But once again, this is not everyone's type of humor so to each their own.
eh his obsession is also the joke. hair salon out he freaks. he was yelling at customer service. if she(the doll) is on tv she should have a hat. he was on a date with his doll.
could someone explain this? how was it a 'really nice touch' and how did over 250 people agree? all it looked like was that Mikey briefly thought it was his cue, then realized it wasn't.
@@michelerich1590 Maybe it was a cue card accident but it was done too carefully with his hands and body. Humor is misdirection. We think one thing will happen and another does. In this case he is right next to the mic and super anxious to defend himself and she's pretty mellow and further away. I didn't notice it until the comment so I upvoted.
She's been living and working in the US since childhood, and she's very talented: 2 Oscar nominations so far. If she couldn't manage a standard American accent by now there would be something seriously wrong.
I like the subtlenes of Jack knowing where the other American Girl Doll store is. idk if that was meant to joke abt him also collecting dolls but that's how i took it.
stephieirene1 not really.... he was a writer for many years on SNL, even making a cameo in a Kim Jong Un sketch while as a writer, then became a feature player

This skit gives me panic attacks!! I keep thinking something like this might happen to me when I’m at American girl, getting my dolls dressed and fed..... to be given as gifts, gifts!!
He's just a history buff who got the doll for a friend. Of course he'd be upset by the historical inaccuracies.
As a History Buff...........yeah, yeah I can relate.

Mikey Day doesn’t get enough credit.. dude has been delivering it for years. Same with Beck Bennett loved him too
Mikey Day is so underrated, he should be in more skits.
Yes. He always delivers
Truly! I love him! Kate, Cecily, and Mikey are my current fave on the show.
No. He's rated just right.
he is actually in lots of skits if anyone is underrated i think its kyle mooney and alex moffat.

He's into dolls also. Mr. Dean is not alone.

Sairose's accent is impeccable.
I know, right? Her american accent is unbelievably good!
American accents are much easier for Irish people to do than the other way around.

Krombopulos Michael That's because they watch a lot of American movies and TV shows, while we don't pay attention to whatever they have over there.
Mikey Day is getting funnier and funnier each week.

The fact that Mikey Day went from the “creepy” guy at the American Doll store to the waiter there in the Travis Kelce skit was perfection!
Loved Leslie and the whole newscast in this! The delivery felt like actual newscasters, which made the lines way funnier in my opinion.
Yet again, Kenan isn't given anything other than straight-man part but still adds to it with great facial responses to the absurdity.
