Thank you for the time you spend on these videos. You've inspired me to get a knife and some wood and give this a try. Hopefully I'll come away with all my fingers and a few little characters to do what with who knows - but the fun will be in the making. Enjoy your channel very much.

I’m going to carve another one tonight and I can’t wait. I’ve always wanted to get into this hobby and with your inspiration and help I jumped in with both feet. I have a ton to learn but I look forward to getting better and creating some more art. It was also great to see my wife and kids reaction to my Santa. • @marcfournier823

Thanks Doug you make it look so easy. I'd say you've reached the stage in your carving of what the great artist Wassily Kandinsky called conscious creation. No longer merely aping but understanding and executing each cut carefully informed by the previous cut. As for mastering the technology don't sweat it. Because I'm sure you'll use the same approach you do to your carving, you'll eventually get to the point where the camera is just another tool. So look forward to the point where your story telling with the new camera is also a case of conscious creation. Stay cool dude.

I have liked ALL of your videos - not just the thumbs-up click, but I REALLY have liked watching all of your videos. I subscribed after watching the first one!
Your 5-minute Wizard video got me to leave the house and head to Lee Valley to get a Flexcut Detail knife and a pair of gloves, and give this a try! And while I was out I took a trip to a local Ottawa wood shop (KJP Select Hardwoods) to get some basswood! There's plenty of spruce and pine downstairs as well as butternut and various hardwoods. Let's see where this goes!
I am also in Canada (Ottawa) and know of Michaels.
Hearing the birds in the background while carving sounds like a GREAT way to spend some quality time this spring/summer/fall! It's March so we're waiting for the snow to melt, so I'm going to spend the weekend with your videos in front of the fireplace!

I am doing this right now on a freshly cut piece of birch. It is a lot of work, I must admit. It's a little less than wrist thin, and the length of my hand. (4 cm x 15 cm).
I think I need to start learning on some softer wood.
Nice carving in good company. Thanks, Doug!
