I can confirm that it MC21 does work, it works flawlesly with efs lenses, the only thing I discovered is that if you used an aperture smaller than f8 the af wasnt working on continous, just single focus.
Thanks for doing the tests and your thoughts on it! Recently sold my Lumix 20-60 kit lens for the Canon EF 17-40 F4 since it's much cheaper than the Lumix 16-35 F4 and wanted to see how well the Sigma MC 21 Adapter works. Getting the Lumix S5 II X soon so excited to use the new lens with it.
I have a pressing question: Does the Lumix S5 focus bracketing work with the Sigma MC 21 adapter? I want to use the Canon EF 24-70mm f/4L IS USM lens with the S5, but I was told it will disable the focus bracketing. Focus bracketing is a must-have for me. Could you please check it?
Sorry but other people you mentioned are using Canon best EF lenses which L series… you can find many of them with reasonable price… but 70-300 & 18-55 are worst lenses in my opinion
So I think with this set-up it just doesn't support the continuous AF at all which was what caused almost all of my problems. All of my testing was done at 4k, 30 fps. Thanks for watching!
There is a AF setting in the Lumix s5ii that only let's you auto focus when recording. Di you have that setting turn on or off? If you don't know what I am talking about watch this video th-cam.com/video/QrENiU07FrM/w-d-xo.html
That IS a very annoying setting. I did end up changing that and it might have been why it was weird trying to focus before the video was started in some instances but I believe the AFC was not working properly even once the video was started during the testing still.
@@Skill_Issue92 The MC21 adapter's firmware is upgraded using a L-mount body and SD card. Sigma EF lens firmware is updated with a Sigma EF lens dock that attaches to the computer via USB.
I'm not sure that it can - it seems to be a limitation with all of the other brand converters I have looked at too where it has AF but it's not continuous.
Leica dictates to the L-mount alliance so we will NEVER see AFC working with CANON EF mount lenses !!!! Same reason also, why we will NEVER see a compact 28mm AF lens for L-mount :))))

Glad it has been working for you! Thanks for the feedback with your experience.
It doesn't work in video but AFC in photo mode works past f8
@@juliankrakowwhen u say past f8 do you mean f1.4 f2.8 f4 and f5.6 work in continuous auto focus ?
@@creativegreatsvisuals Yes, f2.8 ~ f16 AFC works in photo

Nice I hope that works well for you! Thanks for watching!
You’d prob do better w a newer EF lens. That 17-40 is like 20 years old.

Hi there, do you know if the Sigma MC-21 keeps the weather sealing of the Camera/Lens ?
Filming 4K 60p there is an apsc crop in s5 ii anyhow so actually makes sense having something like a 18-35
Yep if you’re going to be shooting in 4k 60 a lot then that definitely makes sense!
Great video. Just that Viltrox Pro does support autofocus 😉

Thanks for the tests! Have you tried the MC-21 with all the different video recording modes? I lose auto focus with any mode with 60p or higher.

It does work on my camera at 48p and 60p.
Do you know if the Samyang EF Autofocus lenses (85mm f/1.4 af or the 24mm f/2.8 af) will work with autofocus on the MC-21?
Theoretically they should, but I have not tried that out and don't have a way to test that.

The lenses might have firmware updates available btw as well as the MC21 adapter
Yeah that's a good point. My Canon lenses I was using with it don't have and ports on them.
@@ConciseTechTV I'm not sure of the process for Canon but I know some of my Tamron and I think sigma glass need special docs to update the firmware.
You can update your MC21 through your camera.

Hello! Have you tried AFC on S5II with MC21 on latest firmware 2.0? PdAF-AFC is still fully functional?
I have not
Can this do AF/C though? I’ve just made a pre order of it hoping I could shoot sport with my EF 70-200 f2.8

My Canon 70-200 f2.8 III works OK, but I wouldn't use it for sports. It's not responsive enough.
