- In this video we review just how loud a cutout is on a 5.7L HEMI and just how loud it sounds. In my opinion it sounds like SRT or a HELLCAT with a modified exhaust.

Back in 1988 my friend had a 73 Buick Century with a 350 with just the y-pipe no exhaust no cat back then we drove everywhere with just the y-pipe . Then he bolted on a cherry bomb it sounded great. One time at a party couple guys borrowed the car and drove through a cornfield lost in October it was the funniest thing I ever seen and heard. The car had corn all over it. I was stoned and drunk couldn't stop laughing.

In all honesty it sounds like you just have the Flowmaster Outlaw exhaust bolted to it. Maybe a little more aggressive but pretty close. Sounds epic. Can't wait till you bolt that SC on the bad boy. I think you will be impressed.

It does sound great. I have QTP electric cutout with remotes and a super 10 muffler for when it's closed.
Perfect setup! I just like the super stealth sound of the stock muffler and then all out madness when its open lol
did you run into the same issues as him when installing the cutout?
Thomas Petito no issues and it's been two years since I've had it on. Every now and then after Heavy Rain it doesn't want to open and I do have to spray a little WD-40 but that happens very rarely.
I was reading up it says to spray liquid wrench on the butterfly plate every month. I just ordered mine I cannot wait to install it. I love a loud exhaust but cannot stand one on a long drive.

Im doing this on my custom truck and plan to use a small Magnflow race muffler before the cutout to clean up the sound a bit. Then a bigger straight through Magy out back with a tail pipe for a clean classy DD worthy performance sleeper exhaust. Sound be money

It's pretty crazy hearing how quick the new trucks shift. Compared to my 1996 lmao. I put a glasspack on it and it sounds damn good with the 5.9L

where did you install it on you exhaust? is it after all of the o2 senors and the cat or is it before all of that? and if its before or after do you have any code problems with check engine lights or anything like that?
Also Another Question all this sound its with a cold Air Intake KN so sound may be different on stock filter

I just bought a tradesman and want to do the same thing. But the muffler guy i talked to said they fail. What have u heard or what kind to buy?
@@chrisa9035 i ended up with a flowmaster American thunder... I have the biggest crybaby neighborhood. If they ever complain though cutouts WILL be installed. And I have heard of the failures also
Get a K&N intake and you won't even want to open the exhaust gate. Sound's awesome on the HEMI's.
Also, Put 3.92 Diff gears in it.
Best bang for your buck and they were factory optioned so they should be able to change your ECU to that size without an issue.
With those two options, my 14 with dual stock exhaust would chirps 35" tires into 3rd gear after spinning 1st and 2nd if i nailed it. Beat Stock C5's everyday.

Just order some JBA Performance long tube headers. Going add true dual 3 inch exhaust with cutout, 40 siers Flowmaster for my big block 7.4 dually. Time wake this motor up !!

Did you feel power loss with the cutout open? Sometimes people lose low end torque while straight piped.
I think it is actually better but I will eventually do a dyno run with it open and closed to get a true answer 👍
Hemiguy1985 ever vehicle is different with how much you gain/lose but you typically gain hp and lose torque.
how does it sound compared to the craven you had on the truck a while back? louder?
Definitely louder. Less Refined. More Raspy. Super Badass. Can turn it off whenever you feel like not making babies cry 👍

BoostedMotorsports True! But a cutout won’t last very long in our Swedish weather I believe.. with salt and such on the roads like 7-8 months of the year :( The electronics and other would take such a beating..
Did you see any performance gains? Or did the computer auto remap the fuel air programming?
Honestly I didn't see too much difference other than the noise! A custom tune would probably help though! We are procharging the truck so not bothering with a tune just for the current configuration until everything is bolted up! 😎
So what brand of cutouts did you get?
I have an 07 ram hemi, I just had a super 44 after the cats and had it turned down in front of the rear wheels and it just sounded so deep and droning nothing bad ass like this. It’s also all stock 3” pipe maybe that’s why I’m not sure

You can tune the shift speeds and firmness with hp tuners, makes a MASSIVE difference

It's about $500 for everything. Knock about $100 if you just want to use a switch and not wireless.

What I'm impressed about is that 16.5MPG avg.
HOW? I have a 2008 HEMI 5.7L and it's totally babied, brand new spark plugs, entire professionally done fuel system and engine cleaning, literally EVERY fluid and filter was just changed, always Synthetic oil, new shocks and tires, K&N intake, Flowmaster Super 50, etc. and I drive it cruise control 63-64mph (my sweet spot for MDS) on the highway and don't accelerate harder than needed.
Driving like a grandma I get about 12.5MPG avg.
Driving conservatively but with some fun, about 11.2MPG avg.
Driving just for fun, about 9.x MPG
That's my observations over 2 years. Maintenance didn't increase it either.
Any idea how to get it up? Costs me $90 every 2 weeks to fill it.
Hey Ben these newer rams with the 8 speed transmission and aerodynamics with active grille shutters get pretty good gas mileage stock. I can usually average around 20mpg if I do mostly highway. I've also done some mods to help with mpg that you can check out if you search through the previous videos. What wheels/tires do you have and are you stock ride height? This is one of the biggest single factors on this truck. Also my 24" wheels and 305 wide tires are hurting my mileage pretty bad too and would be a lot better with regular wheels/tires.

I've seen a lot of your videos and have searched forums online for ways to improve MPG and haven't really found many other than a lighter right foot that've worked for me. Though I'll definitely go through your videos again to see if there's one I missed. Gets expensive paying so much on gas while being a student.

Bro I traded my 2020 down and got a 2018 but it came with Shity single exhaust so I took my magnaflow and just put two 90 dumps on because I couldn’t afford the rear pipes

Slightly louder than mine with the muffler delete. The resonators do help tone the exhaust note so it's shockingly loud yet has a nice, fat, metallic snarl, but between 1500 - 1700 r.pm. I still get an annoying drone.
Yeah I hear ya. That was one of the reasons I took my Carven off and went back to stock. Sounded awesome but I just got tired of listening to the noise and drone constantly, especially when on a business phone call on bluetooth.

This video was just stock cast exhaust manifolds with the electric cutout. We later went with JBA shorties. 💪
