- Panting can be normal in dogs, but if you're wondering "why my dog is panting so much" or they are panting all the time then you need to know that this could be a sign they are suffering from a serious disease. A dog that is panting heavily when they are resting and in a cool environment is definitely not normal.
The causes of panting in dogs include: Normal panting, Anxiety or fear, breed-related problems, developing heatstroke, pain, lung disease, heart disease, hormone problems, and anemia

@@OurPetsHealth hi doc i have a female dog and it's American Bully. My dog had parametria disease but thank goodness we had caught it in time. But on the 3rd day at home of her surgery she had started painting and it's been going on for two days do you have any idea what might be the cause of that. She dose stay in the room but it's not hot or warm. And i do constantly change her water but i have no clue of whats going on. So yea if u have reach this comment plz feel free to write back.

Hello good buddy 👍 Dr Alex..I'm dealing with this problem with arnold now my vet isn't open today I sent her a text trying to get a hold of her Arnold kept me up all night last night with his heavy panting and breathing he has calmed down with the panting but he is still breathing fast in which he has had that problem for a long time due to him being overweight but I have to try to get help for him today. Are there different types of panting. Eg does a dog in pain pant differently to one having anxiety or one after exercise? Etc
My overweight dog pants at weird times for no reason and I have found that putting a fan that is blowing on her and just helping her relax however I can seems to help the panting stop.

So the temp near my place is usually low 90s or high 80s but today it is 74 and she's panting a lot

I have a question, so my mom is a clean freak she doesn’t want any hair any anything to be dirty inside the house so my mom made a decision to have my dog outside to sleep outside stay outside whatever outside take showers outside and stuff like that my dog because of the heat outside where I live in Texas is super hot and she’s always panting I don’t know if it’s good for my dog to be panting every day 24/7 all the time so my question is do you think she would have a shorter lifespan because she’s totally healthy it’s just that I don’t think it’s right for her to be doing that all the time so is she going To live a shorter life or a normal dog life

Why the hell did you get a dog if it's not allowed in the house to be part of the family. Dogs love being part of a pack. They don't want to be isolated in the back yard. You do not deserve a dog. I hope anytime something shitty happens to you, you will remember the mistreatment of this dog.
Maybe her mother made this decision after she already got the dog. It can't be assumed otherwise. Unfortunately, many people do this. In fact most dog owners I've met do this.
My dog is painting/breathing fast when he sleeps. Sometimes my dog stops breathing for a moment than goes back to breathing heavy. I dont know what to do. He's a adult to.
if his breathing has really changed and you are worried then seeing your vet is going to be the safest option

i bought a stray siberian husky home 2 days ago and he’s been panting a lot and has diarrhea but he still very energetic and plays around a lot. i know the diarrhea isn’t normal, we’re trying to give him food to settle his stomach. but is the panting normal? sometimes even if he’s not running he’ll pant likes he has just ran a marathon or something. he hasn’t coughed, shown any signs of allergies. but is this normal?

@@georgestacey1400 Turns out, it’s just a dog thing. Also, another way to cool their bodies down. They aren’t overheating or anything, I thought that at first but they’re just cooling off their bodies, they even start to pant when they get excited.

@@georgestacey1400 I have a mix, Siberian Husky and a pit bull. We have noticed she has very VERY back stomach issues with human food. So it seems that Siberian huskys are just very picky about the foot. Just don’t give them human food for a couple weeks and see if it improves, if it continues but has gotten better, then try different kibble.
My dog has Laryngeal Paralysis and have odd breathing i have taken him of kibble as its not good for dogs and give him grain free dog meat that has human fit meat in it and mix it with brown rice, sweet potato or rolled oat and some veg. Lion mane mushroom can heal the nervous system as Laryngeal Paralysis is neurological. I also give my 12 yr old lab enzymes as they lose this from tap water and cooked meat, raw is a good idea like raw beef mince, liver, heart and chicken feet. I give my dog powder enzymes on his food and leave for 20 mins to help break this down. Giving a dog probiotics is a good idea in a old dog, tap water kills this off so i give my dog bottled spring water. I must say how Moringa is a miracle plant for humans and dogs, it has 17 times more calcium than milk, more iron than spinach and had vit A,C, B6, Magnesium and much more. Moringa can cure up to 800 diseases like Parkinson's and get rid of arthritis pain. My dog only eats this mixed with raw honey as it smells a bit and the honey hides this.
My dog is just Panting a lot he gets in the bed next to me then he leaves 5 mins later then comes back he’s just uncomfortable and keeps panting a lot :( he looks relieved when I hug him but then he’s back to panting a lot and leaves me again :,(
okay so my dog does lick his paw sometimes but what worries me is when he starts panting only at night which is weird ive never seen this happen ever and it it started like 2 weeks ago, he is a beagle hes pretty obese not that much he also limps when he walk at night, he stays up all night panting like hed be laying down no problem then he just gets up walk out of my room and starts to whine to get my attention and points me to his dish for water im really worried about him i just dont want to seem him go out this early, though hes been living with us for 4 to 5 years now maybe 6
My kinda overweight beagle does that too. She has a tumor or cyst on her thyroid the vet said which we think is what is causing her unexplained panting (mostly at night) to help the panting, I just sit with my dog in front of a fan that’s blowing somewhat cold air (I have heard that helps dogs breathe better) and I also do what I can to relax her and that seems to help the panting stop for the time being at least for my dog. She also licks and bites her paws quite a bit like you said your dog does which can be caused by allergies, or the food they are fed, etc. She also will whine constantly to get my attention and go outside over and over all day and night no matter how many times I let her outside which I’ve heard is somewhat normal in dogs as a habit lol hopefully some of that helps you or at least gives you some peace of mind knowing you aren’t the only one! We were just letting off fireworks for the 4th of July my dog started panting really fast when I came in the house. She used to be a stray so I don't know something might have happened to her before but she seems very scared of fire works she's starting to calm down a little bit do you think it's the fireworks making her act this way

Is ur dog doing any exercise? Puppies have lots of energy. They need to get rid of it by playing . it can also because of stress for changing its home. 🙂Try to get it some toys or puzzles for dogs to work on💖
They can also pant if a bit stressed so it really depends on how he’s behaving, eating and drinking or not otherwise. I hope he settles in well

jaeminstoes yes I think it’s normal I took him to the vet just in case they didn’t speak anything of it.
My dog pants but he wasn’t trying to drink water and he pees everywhere but he doesnt have a short fur he has such long fur he has he’s tung out alot idk if this has anything to do with it but he itches him self a lot he is a chihuahua cross with a Yorkshire terrior I don’t know why he is panting tho as I stayed up till 1 in the morning he pants sometimes while he is laying round in my room btw my room is really hot but it is collet at night but I don’t know if it’s serious as I’m a kid and I don’t know much about this sort of stuff btw he is nearly two years old what do I doo for him?

I went to the vet and I was told my German shepherd had allergies. Can an allergic reaction cause my dog to breath fast? He is currently on meds.

My dog licks the furniture for no reason, pants when I have the fan on/its not hot, and shakes when its not cold. He also looks behind me or next to me like somebody just called his name, but nobody is in the room with me... when he was a puppy we recued him from a family who used to kick him down stairs and do other harmful things. Could this have lead to the issues; what could I do to help him. We are going to the vet soon, but until then I am not sure what to do... it is kind of weird just letting him just stare at something for no reason like it called his name or licking/panting/shivering for absolutely no reason.
I think that your dog is panting because its scared. Its past could have cause this to happen

Impossible to say. If you are worried then call your vet. It’s better not to wait too long with puppies as if there is something wrong it can hit them much harder

If it's something that continues but she is otherwise well then get a check up in a few weeks. If she is otherwise acting strangely, short of breath or not exercising as normal, or unwell then getting her checked sooner would be a good idea

My dog was fine all day, then the smoke detector went off and I noticed a shift in her behaviour. She seemed odd and nervous and was trying to climb on me. Now it’s time for bed and she’s been panting all kinds. She stops when we go outside and she keeps wanting to go outside and I’m not sure how long this will last but i’m worried
So sorry to hear another dog had to deal with this, our dogs were stuck home for a bit on their own when the detector starting beeping. They were freaked out when we came home, one doggie hiding in bathtub! Obviously we changed all detectors in house with fresh batteries. Good luck🤞
Also your vet will give you Trazadone for the dogs. It mainly is used from anxiety or trauma, ie: smoke detectors!
