Dude, I’m so jealous right now. I became a longtime fan of the Dodge Charger because of DoH. Had I came across these, I’d have at least two or three! One for myself, and the other(s) for future appraisals.
That is a Gem like collection. Rest assured no one else has one quite like it. The factory package Series #3 is selling on Ebay from $135 to $175 as of 6/23/21. ....Update, I just bought the one for $135 so the lowest now is like $159.99. I'm not in it for any "investment". Being from Mississippi, Growing up in the 70's and 80's this car means something to me. I've seen every episode of Dukes of Hazzard and have the DVD collection.
They are definitely getting hard to come by. The Series 3 cars are also arguably one of the best JL General Lee releases too, so I only see the prices going up as supply gets smaller. They don’t pop up often either, so you probably made the right call to snag one now.
Cool find. Those places on the doors are filled in holes. When the casting was first used it was 1970 and had air scoops on the doors. They re-tooled to 1969 Charger for the General Lee and filled the holes.
Thanks for sharing and showcasing these cars. I have a TH-cam video showing a diorama I did of the GL jumping over the police car in front of Seney Hall.
Nice! The diorama looks good! The Tomica Coronet is cool. Greenlight makes the correct Hazzard County Monaco for that particular scene if you wanted to make it even better!
There are decals available and I could make my own, but nothing beats the real thing when it comes to a TV car, hopefully public feelings will change, but I doubt it. I am a proud rebel and I love the confederate flag, but I have always gone my own way all my life, it drives others who have tried to control me nuts, especially when I see through some elaborate schemes they have cooked up.
Maybe you might be able to answer a question. I have 2 original ertl chargers. 1 has the normal stamped bottom, but the other has a box with 3002 a in it. And the exhaust is differant, but it says 1981 still
In 1981 Ertl made four different General Lees: a USA, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Singapore versions. More than likely you have two cars made in the different cities - as they are similar but do have different features like bases. If you want, DM me a pic of it @64wheels on Instagram and I can help you figure out what version it is etc.
I came across them through a few different sellers online. I guess the person who originally found them sold them all and over the years different people have bought them up little by little. I bought 12 or so from one person and the others from a different person, but they were all originally trash cars from the same find.
I didn’t find them in the trash, but they were originally pulled out of the trash/reject bin. Several of the trash cars have come up for sale on eBay recently too - they are still out there!
Right?! Who knew they would be worth so much and become so desirable. They made millions of the original Ertl cars, and it’s wild to see what people are paying for them nowadays.
They produced a larger scale one when the movie came out around 2006/7, but it’s pretty expensive now and was good on flat surfaces only - we need one that can jump!
I don’t think we’ll ever see another licensed General Lee released bc of issues with the flag. Possibly a blank orange 69 Charger from Greenlight at some point, but no actual Lees.
@@64Wheels Too many butt hurt lefties. I have many different scale die cast models of the general lee. It's been my dream car since I was a kid growing up watching the Dukes of Hazzard. I would love to own a real 69 Charger/General Lee one day. I'm a huge fan of the show and the car. Funny how a TV show that promoted family values and didn't have a racist bone in it, is now called racist because of a flag. The general lee is the most popular TV/movie car of all time and I'm sure that anyone that grew up watching Dukes isn't racist at all.
maybe the reason that these cars were discarded were due to stupid woke-ism. look at what is on top of every car. we have to pretend that people my age didn't love this show when we were young, and that this show not at one time showed anything close to racism.
These were discarded along time before any current cultural indecision on the flag - they were made back in 2007/2008 when things weren’t as decisive as they are now ha. But due to those issues I truly doubt we’ll ever seen another official General Lee diecast from a manufacturer like Johnny Lighting ever again.

@@64Wheels Thank you. I will eventually replace it with the one I bought online.. Yeah and made by green light. Such a cool story behind those GLs.
Wow those are really cool 😎 I love em all!!!
I have never seen one of these, I wish Greenlight would make one as I would really like to get one.
Me too but due to cancel culture the best we would ever get would be one with no flag but I feel like we can get decals made from someone

I love ur vids, keep up the great work!
These have their own coolness 😎👍

You are so lucky.
The Ertl ones are my favorite too - can’t beat the classic!

@@64Wheels very cool. I’m trying to find a couple. I have the exact one from when I was 10 years old
Most factory rejects are destroyed but some make it past quality control and can seel for a LOT OF MONEY
How much would you be willing to sell one?
Sorry, they aren’t for sale at this time
@64Wheels cool, thanx for letting me know.
Where in the trash did you find them?
I didn’t find them in the trash, but they were originally pulled out of the trash/reject bin. Several of the trash cars have come up for sale on eBay recently too - they are still out there!
I actually made 7 General Lee 1/64 models that I think look better than the Johnny Lightning
That’s cool - the JL cars are pretty good. What brand of car did you go with to make yours?
@@64Wheels well some are Johnny Lightning but also Hot Wheels and others
@@64Wheels I have a video on my TH-cam page showing them
I have one of those in mint condition (not in the box, mind you)
I Half Johnny Lightning Custom General Lee New
I want at least one ! Please !
JOHN MOGAVERO haha not for sale, but occasionally they pop up on eBay, so keep an eye out!
Had I known that certain things were going to go a certain way, years & years later, I would DEFINITELY have saved my old Hot Wheels General Lee. 😕
Right?! Who knew they would be worth so much and become so desirable. They made millions of the original Ertl cars, and it’s wild to see what people are paying for them nowadays.
those are so cool
Thanks! I like your profile pic too!
Sir u start.the show again.with all those cars /nice dude/hee haw
Someone needs to produce a really good rc genera lee.

I wish I Could find one for $10 a new company needs to make a 1/64 & 1/24 general lee

i want some general lees
My General Lee $75.00
The Lees do have really good market value nowadays. I’d say the average Johnny Lighting General Lee selling price is around $50-75!
