some people may not understand the magnitude of landing a parachute or one of these .. but to be quite honest that was the best place to land .. street causes risk for injury .. neighborhoods polls and power lines surrounding and to the left of the field may have carried too long into the forest ... That was literally the best place especially with all that weight behind him ... Many have died on landings ... Good job man
Obviously an old comment but his landing space was 20-25ft long. That baseball area is probably more than an acre worth of land. He most definitely should have delayed the landing and hit the back portion of unused diamonds. He was way too danger close to the crowd and players.

The rules are pretty slack with these things and I'd like to keep it that way.

Hey man, out of curiosity, did this hinder your enjoyment of them in future flights? It seems like it would. One time I got stuck on an escalator and it had such a lasting impact that now I only take the stairs!
How the fuck do you get "stuck" on an escalator? Are you too fat to walk away? This was pretty standard landing, so a normal guy without mental problems wouldn't enjoy flying any less. You always have to be prepared to land if the motor stops working, just like it did here.
I guess your shoelaces could get stuck in the top/bottom, but it's not like that would pull your foot in. Worst case scenario you have to pull your foot out of the shoe and then cut the shoelace, because those things automatically stop if anything gets in them. Idk how you could get stuck.

Great job, my initial thought was that he was losing altitude far too quickly and that he would land short. However, he really should have been much higher flying over such terrain. I'm sure he'll know better next time :-)
these things are goddamn perfect for huge pranks. 1.They're completely unregulated 2.You can fly them from pretty much anywhere with little preparation 3.Often untouchable by law enforcement(at least until you land) It probably would be easy as shit to straight up fly this over like a World Series game or something, maybe even the goddamn Super Bowl. Surprised no one's thought of it.
They are regulated. Look up FAR Part 103. They aren't strictly regulated, but there are limitations on where you can fly (no Class A, B, C, or D airspace; no flying over congested areas; and no flying over areas of outdoor assembly). You are not allowed to drop anything from them if it can harm people or property. Ultralight aircraft (paramotors included) have speed restrictions, weight restrictions, and fuel capacity restrictions. Also, you can only fly them during the day (Visual Flight Rules only). As for flight prep, you definitely should plan your flight based on weather, TFRs, and fuel burn (just like about any other flight). The only thing that isn't really regulated is, ironically, the pilots as no license is required to fly them.
