I'm missing my grannies. I grew up in a house with my grandparents. Our neighbors were also the siblings of my grandfather. Imagine a boy bombarded with history lessons during lunch and dinners. It was so sad to see them die year after year, until the only thing that remains are their photos and good memories. Love your grandparents, talk to them, you will learn so many things that school won't teach you. The only thing that matter to them is our presence.
Very wise words: I think grandparents are the most important and precious people we could ever have in our lives. I hope that all the grandchildren of today spend as much time as they can with their grandparents. Especially our generation of grandparents who were born in or just after WW2! I really hope that kids spend more time with their grandparents and loved ones than on their phones (even though I dont think that is the case for many). I wish every grandchild took 10 minutes out of their day to call their grandparents instead of scrolling through social media for hours. It was a blessing that you grew up in a household with your grandparents - a pure blessing. You grannies are watching you from up above with God. Keep those stories they told you in your heart and pass them on to your kids one day. :)
This brought tears to my eyes. 😢 My grandmother and great-grandmother never lived apart, they live under the same roof their whole life’s in Madeira, Portugal. I was raised by them while my mother moved to London for work. At the age of five, I moved to London with my mother. I’m twenty two now and I hardly get to see them and honestly, I didn’t make much effort. This pandemic has taught us all that life is short and precious. We may be apart and I may not be with them physically, but I’m grateful to still be able to talk to them over the phone and hear their voice. I was meant to spend my birthday with them this April but my flights got cancelled due to the pandemic.

As a second generation Italian/Australian, the language they use, I don't understand it but I know it/have heard it throughout my childhood. When last parent died, I settled estate with NO help. Everyone benefited equally but sat on their hands waiting for cheque. Utterly despicable!!
My mother-in-law has not seen her sister in 33 years, despite efforts on everyone's part to get the two together she still refuses to get together with her. I do not know why, but it breaks my heart because she is running out of time, she is 96 years old and her sister is just a little younger. All the other siblings are gone.

I miss my sister very much/ I could never visit her as often because she smoked and I have lung problems/ I have visited houses before where people smoke and a home filled with smoke makes me end up getting sick with breathing problems, coughing and on one occasion I have gone into anaphylactic shock because my lungs just can not handle cigarette smoke in a closed in area such as a person's home. Glad these two sisters finally came back together.
