    Ambrogio is the best engineered and built of long-established robotic mowers. It has suspension systems, twisting design, single piece stainless steel blade (once a year), higher grip, bigger battery, yet smaller and lighter chassis. Even the PCB is designed for heat dissipation and to industrial standards, logical as the manufacturer also makes industrial machines. Now, will that mean better, more reliable, faster, more even performance in real life? What about the ability to cut thick-bladed St. Augustine grass?

      Mine here doesn't have that star blade - it actually has a series of razor blades. They cut St Aug very well so far. Ill do a full followup video here in about a month.

    I'll totally buy this robot if it has a "Get Off My Lawn" feature in which it will tell strangers to move away from my lawn or it'll shoot tasers at them. 😁

    I’ve never heard of this brand. However, I own a robot mower made by Husqvarna. Theirs are called Automowers. Much cheaper than this unit. No babysitting here. This machine runs on its own and keeps my Bermuda grass looking great, perfectly cut at .75” on a 16,000 sqft lawn. All I do is the occasional trimming and edging. My favorite part about a robot is it allows you to focus on the nutrition of your lawn without the hassle of the extra work. I’ve had this unit for 2 years now and absolutely love it!

      Running a Husqvarna myself down-under for the last 6 years as well without issue. Comes out 3 times a week to cut a real fruit-salad of a lawn with Rye Grass, Fescue (3 types) and Kentucky Blue at about 50mm (approx 2 inches) so it looks like carpet. Miss the stripes - but otherwise a perfect cut and fun to watch.

      We have less expensive models as well. I’m sure you had to install a wire so there was some setup. Really depends on what size & shape of lawn your mowing. Cheaper is not always better. A robotic mower should last. Does your Husqvarna have a six year warranty?

      I believe there are many people out there just like you. They enjoy working on the soil, spraying, spreading, etc and are happy to have a robot cut the lawn for them because it can cut every single day and to it nearly perfectly. I am really looking forward to seeing how this St Aug lawn responds

    • @bobadams4948
      @bobadams4948 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Perfectly tuned? There would be too many situations whether large or small to be plug in and play. Maybe on a square lawn with no beds or elevation changes. The benefit of these are they can be adapted to almost any property. A riding John Deere mower is about $3k. Then you have to get on it. I guess if you have a lot of time it wouldn’t make sense. The question is what is time worth.

    I’ve had a Worx Landroid for a couple years. My experience has been that it gives a much higher cut quality when you cut short. I had tall fescue and it did a really poor job cutting it. I was losing the battle in my yard to common Bermuda so I gave up and switched the yard over to Bermuda and now I cut on the lowest setting. At this cut height it does a fantastic job. The biggest downside for me is that you have to accept that everything that needs to be managed with a weed eater will still grow and you get a ring of tall grass around the border wire. I think these mowers have a bright future, but I also think there will be fundamental changes in how you setup a lawn as people get more experience with them. Some grass types will do better than others with it. I think Bermuda will become the obvious choice. Also laying out your border to have no sharp turns using beds with nice curves will make a big difference in the amount of ruts the wheels will make. Corners create areas of high turn around volume. Any yard that uses this needs to have a spreading type turf that can heal over these areas. Also the runners on these types of turf provide good traction for the wheels. You should find someone who’s been using one of these for a while and ask them what they’ve changed in their yard to make it work better.

      Ambrogio has been building robotic mowers in Italy for over 20 years! We're still fairly new to the US, but we're not new to the robot game. These High Cut models were developed specifically for the US market due to popular demand, and they're perfect for tall fescue and St. Augustine grass.

    • @bobadams4948
      @bobadams4948 ปีที่แล้ว

      We have different mowers for different grasses and situations. Have a Poa problem cut it short & break the seed cycle. Tall Fescue dwarf Rye they will all have their different requirements. Reach out to any of our dealers or distributors and I am sure we can suggest a model

    • @paradisebots
      @paradisebots ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Likely the issue with the Worx robot on tall grass is that it pushes the grass over, which causes much of the grass to not make contact with the blades. Notice that the Ambrogio 4.0 models have comb fingers in the front that comb the grass up into the blades. Ambrogio also gets stuck far less than Worx and other brands due to the wide, soft rubber tires. The ring of grass you are trimming depends on the placement of the wire. Most grass trimming can be eliminated with preparation of the edges near the wire and careful wire placement. It is important to use a dealer for installation, whenever possible, or pay close attention to details if you are self-installing.

    • @AmbrogioRobotUSA
      @AmbrogioRobotUSA ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Great question! There are a lot of factors (robot model & battery size, how often you have the robot set to mow, etc). On the low end, about 1kWh per day and on the high end, about 3kWh per day. Energy costs vary widely across the US, but some quick Googling tells us that the average cost of 1kWh is 23 cents.

    • @AmbrogioRobotUSA
      @AmbrogioRobotUSA ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, perimeter wire needs to be buried, the robot actually goes slightly over the wire when cutting an edge since the blade is narrower than the wheelbase. Sounds like it would be the perfect spot for another Ambrogio model, the Twenty ZR. It doesn't need a perimeter wire when it is installed in an enclosed area like your backyard. It uses radar that senses obstacles instead of a wire.

      It's rare, but it can happen. We have had a few robots "go for a walk" over the years, but we have been 100% successful in assisting the owners with retrieval. GPS tracking on board, and automatic notifications sent to your phone if the robot leaves the area.

      GPS enabled tracking! If the robot is taken outside of the geofence around your property, all functions of the robot will be locked and you will be sent a notification. At that point, the robot begins sending periodic position updates until the battery depletes. Only a dealer or the robot owner can reactivate the robot. While this is rare, it can happen! So far, we have been successful at assisting the owner with recovery 100% of the time.

      Babysitting is only needed for poor installations and other aspects that are independent of the robot (yard debris, etc). Ambrogio, with over 20 years experience, has incorporated important features such as the tilting deck and wide soft rubber tires that dramatically reduce the errors experienced. We have a difficult yard with steep slopes. Our old Ambrogio L200 handled it, but there was a fair amount of robot rescuing. Our new 4.0 High Cut works beautifully. Only one or two errors per season now and they are always not the robot's fault.

      Consider cutting grass with robot mowers. Landscapers are starting to adopt them to address the labor shortage and get a better solution for your customers (lawn always mowed, no clippings). Read the comments of all the people who already own them. Most are enthusiastically positive. Now imagine your customer, who is sooo happy with the mowing solution YOU gave them. Who will they contact for fall clean-up? Who will they reach out to for odd landscaping jobs? Our landscapers who install robots are continually increasing their revenue with additional landscaping jobs they would not have gotten. Noodle on this idea for awhile, then find an Ambrogio dealer who will help you get started.

    So "tried and true tech" is just code for we aren't keeping up with new tech. The business model has the dealer entrenched in my pocket and there are better known brands that are cheaper. IMO. I am kind of surprised LCN would back this thing. I do like that it is a high cut, that has been the hardest part for me as I have been mulling over getting one of these for a while. I agree that having the dealer install this is less stress to the homeowner but everyone does not have have great location and soil- they would need a rock saw to put that wire in my yard. Personally I am passing on tried and true and plan on opting for new and improved. Get one that maps your yard using GPS, that does not require more money from the homeowner and you get some exercise as you walk the thing around your yard to set it up.

    I see this product and all robotic mowers not-ready-for-prime-time. If I have to babysit one of these it's not worth my time to own it. The cost of these things will come down in time making them more affordable. I see these more as a lawn mowing company developing a mower lease or rent plan providing both sales and service.
    A complete TurnKey package where the homeowner has to do absolutely nothing. I am not a fan of the buried cable method either. I want to see EGO come up with something. Hopefully companies will continue to spend r&d to develop these. Could be another five years before they become profitable with them.
