As an artist, Tim Henson is always trying to update, invigorate and reinvent his band’s image.
He has taken that same approach with the TOD10N, his signature nylon string electric guitar.
The TOD’s most striking aesthetic feature may be the fingerboard inlay design, which Tim has dubbed as the “Tree of Death”. The name and the design are both nods to the iconic Ibanez “Tree of Life” inlay design, but with a twist.

I’m Not a huge nylon guitar fan, but I really like what Tim has been doing with his sound and style on the nylon. Definitely original and unique to him as a player. Respect to the guys of polyphia, it’s refreshing to hear a band who isn’t afraid to explore their sound. Happy to see them successful.
This one has metal strings as far as I can tell

Ok people go look up and listen to a real classical guitarist. They use their fingers and have really nice tone. I wanted to like this guitar but I have ears. Yuk. Sounds like a piezo on a classical. Thank God we have microphones and real classical instruments. Julian Bream, Andrew York, LA guitar quartet. Then you can hear how a real nylon string guitar sounds.

The best part is they can brilliantly play all of their songs live with great energy. Saw it all live from the front row in front of Tim in Leipzig, Germany in May, 2023.. I hadn't been so impressed by a guitarist playing live since seeing Eddie VH at the US Festival back in '83. Both jaw droppingly talented players. 😍
For me, his playing is so soulful and so full of feeling, as well as technically amazing. Really inspiring in every way.

@@sonja5695 I was looking at the cheaper version, but the TOD has the exact same color scheme as one of my ukuleles that I easily have 2000+ hours on, so when I saw this guitar, I felt like I had to buy it, on top of the fact that I’ve been looking for an electro-acoustic for me to perform with.
The ukulele is the Kala ka-jte black. Search it up if you wanna see a crazy coincidence.

Tim Henson, Ichika Nito and Marcin are beyond just talented, their guitars have almost become part of them. Tim plays towards the dark while Ichika plays towards the light as in Awakening. Interesting.
I always get happy hearing the background synth(?) at 2:25 because it oddly enough reminds me of Metroid Prime. Don't know why but it's a little piece of the song that I really enjoy

Nice playing from Tim, and some really interesting design choices. I’m wondering how the side soundport works… hopefully, it’s there to help with stage feedback mitigation (vs the “traditional” soundhole location). I don’t own any classical-esque guitars, so I hope that I have the opportunity to check one of these out.
iirc it’s there to face unplugged sound toward your head so it’s still more viable to play unamplified

... actually the Ibanez TOD10N page has a clear picture of both (and beautiful shot of the neck). You can fill the guitar with beer and drink out of the soundhole with a straw.
This guitar is a thing of beauty. Some flamenco guitars have a sideport, in addition to the central one in the classical/flamenco guitars. Gives the player instant feedback.

I think goal is just to get good and to find your style. As a guitarist myself, I try not to get too hung up on replication of other people's style. I invented my own style. I play well and that is good enough for me.
