The Gen 7 is a vibe. One of the last dedicated aero bikes. Im torn because I think well sell more of this new one but definitely have fond memories of the gen 7
Do you think it would be technically possible to put that beautiful handlebar on a mechanical Madone SL 5 Gen 8? Cable routing looks tight, but could a mechanic make it work?
naw the SL frame is 3800$. My point is that the SL 5 with the same frame retails for 3500$. What the top comment is talking about is the cost of the old gen 7 frame. They are correct the new madone slr frame is 1500$ more then the last one.
But if you look at the aero charts from Trek about the Madone GEN 8, you only need to get the bottles and the cages for the GEN 7 and you are faster with the old model. It is comparable to the SL7 and the SL8 ... when you buy the Roval Rapid Cockpit and mount it at the SL7 you are almost even with the aero claims/charts from Sworks... - so hilarious!
@@bicyclestation Yeah there's supposed to be a gap at the bottom with a round bottle which looks incredibly silly. The fit will loosen up over time at least.
Even with pedals & bottle cages 7.5kg isn’t that light. Without it would still be around 7.2kg. With all the hype I expected 6.8s. Personally, disappointing 😢
Like how you weighted the complete bike with pedals and cages, it gets old very quickly how they weigh bikes these days. People don't realize what it really takes to get a complete bike everyday ridable under 16 lbs. ( Not on a bathroom scale ).
7.48 k = 16.5 lbs is about right with pedals and 2 cages plus GPS mounts. Because I own a similar bike. Super light wheelset would take 1/2 + off.@@bicyclestation
looks like a dirty cream-colored bike. like the gold, hate the always dirty look. and no it's not lighter than an Emonda, but more aero. Trek is killing 40 percent of their SKUs to save money. Also, weighing the frame plus handlebars, seat post, and axles tells us nothing. Just weigh the frame for comparison please.
Loving my Gen 7 even more now

@@bicyclestationthis will definitely sell easier as it ticks more boxes
Keep telling yourself that!
Can’t wait until the road test like you guys did with the last model and the tarmac.
Standard bottles do fit in the Madone SLR aero cage.
Yea I was wrong. Our bad.
I'm definitely in the boat of wanting that 13 speed with a direct mount UDH mech on a road bike...Hoping for more UDH road frames on the market.
Looks nicer in that colour way as opposed to the Lidl one.
The lidi one is cool. But yea it’s not my style

Most importantly; do all those New Era hats say Specialized under the bill? Any online photos I see none have an underside photo
I have one of the original ones. The new ones done unfortunately. Best hat ever.
that paint is called 1980’s wallpaper.
that is 1950s or 60s but it needs a velour texture to make me feel like I'm back at my mom's house.
Can someone please inform me of the part number for the computer mount?
Can't find the aero bottles and cages for the Madone.
We should have more hitting the website this week - what we had went quick!
Hello, can you tell me if the seatpost adapters for oval rails are included with the bike in the SL models?
Or should I buy them separately?
The sl just came with one set of ears
I ride a size 52 emonda. What size will i choose if I will buy the gen 8 madone?
You need to look at the stack and reach of your emonda and make sure you’ll fit on the new bike. It’s a little confusing but probably a medium
@@bicyclestation thank you very much for your answer.
The s-works SL 8 is one pound lighter?
It's lighter for sure. I don't think its quite a full pound but a half a pound
@@bicyclestationsl8 weights about 14.5 with dura ace and without pedals. so could be 2 pounds heavier
It would be interesting to see the weight of a durace Madone. We just weighed a new sram red size large matt black Madone 8 at like 15.9
Why all the dirty spots on the white bike? Is that from riding, or is it natural?
That’s just the way they painted it
hm that seems heavy with red, ill have to get the slr
It's a nice bike, but the 1500 dollar. uplift on the frame price is ridiculous.
Soon bikes will be starting 10k 😢
Is that for the slr frame? In which case it’s probably due to the new carbon

I was thinking if you put the bottles on an sl8 you’d break the scale
Who is mix and matching brands ... 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️ it is as silly as riding with PAS, Rapha, and Café du cyclists as a kit combination@@bicyclestation
I think it’s silly to care about brands. Unless they are cutting you a check mix whatever
Reminder (I work for Trek ! 🙃) Please, do not put carbon paste at the seatpost. This new madone do not require carbon paste at this area!
We didn’t?
@@bicyclestation I don't know :) Just a reminder for customers.
I really don't understand why you don't do a smell test for all the bikes you check out 8[
Nice cap 👍🏼😆
Several media sites are claiming cage works with round bottles. Maybe try it when it is mounted on the bike.
I just tested it again. I was able to shove it in but it does really go all the way into the cage. I guess it would work in a pinch.
@@bicyclestation Yeah there's supposed to be a gap at the bottom with a round bottle which looks incredibly silly. The fit will loosen up over time at least.
That’s what I’m trying to say. It’s not like a super solid feel but it does work.

Yea I thought it would be lighter
Even the pro bikes at this year's tour are at 7.3-7.6kg
Trek says the bottlecage is compatible with round bottles
It technically works but it’s not the best fit.
That is super heavy bike.
Like how you weighted the complete bike with pedals and cages, it gets old very quickly how they weigh bikes these days. People don't realize what it really takes to get a complete bike everyday ridable under 16 lbs. ( Not on a bathroom scale ).
Yea anyone weighing bikes without cages and pedals is cheating lol
it looks better for sure, they took my advice by matching the angles of the head tube pit, and a-hole pit.
yes your advice hahah
If only Trek shaved 5 grams off the frameset… really could’ve had a winner here
Color: Dirt You Can't Clean
Canyon has a good computer mount
That’s absolutely the generation of emonda! The gen 7 just released less than 2 years ago. LOL
They admitted to that in one of their press things. The decision was that they could reduce skus without having a slower bike.
🧔🧔🧔🧔
Ugh that bar…
And yet she’s heavy for the price w/o pedals and bottles
udh ftw
As if not weigh the bike in kilos.
What’s a kilo?

Yup, it looks like a white bike that yellowed in the sun and needs to be washed.
