      The 450 has dolby vision and my 420 doesn't

    Firmware version 1.82 was published earlier this week for the UB9000 and UB820. It allows users to explicitly select between what it calls type 1 and type 2 Dolby Vision modes if the player determines that the display device supports both types. Type 1 is also known as standard Dolby Vision or TV-led Dolby Vision where the display device performs tone mapping. Type 2 is also known as low latency Dolby Vision or player-led Dolby Vision where the player performs tone mapping. A player that runs firmware version 1.82 picks type 2 by default if connected to a high luminance device like an LG G3, LG G4, Sony A95L, or Sony Bravia 9 like in the bad firmware version 1.76, but then allows the user to override this choice if the player knows that the display device accepts both types. This video could use an update to incorporate this new setting. One trick that some AVS Forum users have found is that users might need to disable and then reenable Dolby Vision in order to view this menu. Another thing that forum users are saying is that the menu might not show up for their TVs because the TV either can’t get bright enough for the player to automatically switch to low latency Dolby Vision in order to suppress bright subtitles or is unable to support one of the modes (e.g. early LG TVs being unable to accept low latency Dolby Vision, or early Sony TVs with Dolby Vision being unable to accept standard Dolby Vision through HDMI because the HDMI ports bypass the TV’s tone mapping hardware so they require low latency Dolby Vision through HDMI and can only do standard Dolby Vision through apps running directly on the TV). Standard Dolby Vision usually is better than low latency Dolby Vision for Blu-ray disc playback if both options are available.
    Another issue is that some Dolby Vision TVs (mainly non-LG TVs) have broken Dolby Vision implementations, so disabling Dolby Vision to force HDR10 can sometimes improve video quality on those TVs.

      I have a Sony A90J which doesn't feel like that "early" of a model. I did the 1.82 update on the Panasonic 820 and I do not see the DV options. Even if I disable DV and re-enable. I'm wondering if I need to hard reset? If anyone knows, feel free to reply. Thanks!

      He doesn't understand HDR10+ is a HDR format and shouldn't be on if you prefer Dolby Vision. If his TV does not support HDR10+ it won't make any difference whatsoever leaving it on. It will not make colours brighter like he said. I think he should do his research.

    • @b-icemedia
      @b-icemedia  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If I didn't cover it in this video, then I don't believe there is. I think the only time I've had it not instantly play is when I turned the player off with the disc in it.

      @b-icemedia the player auto played a disc I left in overnight after powering on the following evening. This is whats bugs me slightly on an otherwise up to now great 4k player. I don't want the player auto starting discs for playback, I would rather manually start the disc, minor annoyance but would be nice to have the option. When I do take my disc out after watching and close the tray the player attempts to read even without a disc inserted so seems like it is a locked feature. Just something I wish the manufacturers would give user preference over. Anyway thanks for the reply 👍

      I would try switching cables first and see if that fixes the issue for you! If not, you can try the double HDMI (one for video/one for audio) and see if that works for you. Also, you can test different ports on your TV. If that doesn't work, then you may have a lemon on your hands.

      As a seller of Blu-ray and 4K Media, you would be surprised by the manufacturer issue with the discs themselves. Your player might be fine it's the disc having issue. If a have a disc freeze up or sound drop, I usually Google that movie and search for known issues. If a buyer contacts me about an issue with a movie, I Google the same thing and then learn about the issue with that movie.
