    Do not use washing up liquid in the screen washer bottle. It contains salt to bulk it up, and when you use the washers it will spray onto the paintwork. Salt can damage the paint. Windscreen washer fluid is salt free. Washer fluid also contains some anti-icing ingredient which can prevent the screen from icing up when you use it in freezing weather.

    • @Planefix1
      @Planefix1  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well yes all of that's true, but it is a good alternative to use if you have no screen washer, I've used it for years and never had any issues myself

    This 1 kr-fe consumes a lot of oil by its design.you should check it regularly every two weeks its ok.from the upper dot to the bottom dot its about a litter of oil.its better to use 5w-30 oil and of course fully synthetic oil.if you change and check your oil you'll have it for a life! Shouldn't someone be careful with tapwater use in a car or any mineral water due to calcification later on affecting the whole car engine with repeated tapwater/bottled water use? Thanks

    • @Planefix1
      @Planefix1  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi, well yes "technically" you should normally use distilled and if this car was a 1 million pound Bugati Veyron or a 1920's Rolls Royce i would use distilled. But honestly every person (and pretty much every garage in the world) use normal tap water. The correct use of antifreeze/summer coolant is absolutely more critical than perhaps using simple tap water as this is highly developed addative, that has all the anticorrosive properties etc required. Further more, any water (tap, bottle, stream ive even used windscreen washer before in an emergency) is better than no water, as no water equals engine destroyed. Honestly, trust me, half a cup of tap water tap once every 6 months is absolutely fine. 😁

    • @johnw2758
      @johnw2758 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      3 common places and all relatively easy to fix. Rear/top brake light, side indicator housings and the other requires removing the bumper as it is the vents.. A gasket set is available for the rear lights (about £14), use some silicone gasket sealant as well and they can all be sorted. Start with just doing the top brake light. There's plenty of videos available as it is a very common thing. The bumper is quite easy to remove too.

    Oil also cools the engine if it's topped up.Always use screen wash in the winter and always put anti-freeze in the expansion bottle.Top tip is when the engine oil is drained and with the sump plug is already out/off is to pour some new,clean engine oil.It will remove some the dirty oil already sitting/laying on the bottom of the oil pan....do this on extensive oil drains if you go over 8,000 miles,but i would suggest an oil change every 5.000 miles....it's good for the engine.And don't get any rubbish from Halfords as they're cheap tat.Euro car parts,GFS,local Wheels motor factor or anywhere else.Avoid Halfords at all costs.

    • @Planefix1
      @Planefix1  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi thanks for your comments. Ive used Halfords oil before and not had any problems to be fair, it will be perfectly good for a C1 in my view. Also all oil changes are good and the more frequent the better, but i think 5000 is a bit keen for a small car such as a C1 😊

    • @tardeliesmagic
      @tardeliesmagic 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Planefix1 Frequent oil changes are important for VVT-i engines,i assume your car has it? Sludge is no good for VVT-i as it needs to flow easily and may clog up the thin oil passages,especially the top part of the engine.

    • @Planefix1
      @Planefix1  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, there is only 2 ways this can happen. 1) Someone has put oil into the coolent system by mistake or 2) Most likely your head gasket has failed. You need to take it to a garage and ask them to do a pressure test of the cylinder head gasket. If the water just has the appearance of an oily 'film' on the top (it can look like this sometimes, on some cars when all is OK) and if the car is performing well, you have no water in the oil (makes the oil go creamy) and if you have no excessive white smoke coming out of the tailpipe when driving, then I would change the coolent, flush and refill with new water/antifreeze.

    Temp indicator?? Not in my C1.
    And 10 W 40 oil? Better use 5 W 30

    • @Planefix1
      @Planefix1  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is a temperature indicator in all C1's. It is a small warning light that activates if the temperature becomes too high. If you are referring to a temperature "gauge" then no they don't have on of those. With respect to the oil, both 5w 30 and 10w 40 are both acceptable to use in this engine. The reality is there is actually very little difference between either from a specific lubrication point of view, it is personnel choice. I prefer a slightly heavier oil as the engines in these are quite noisy at the best of times and I believe they run better/quieter on 10w40 myself.

    Don't put tap water in the coolant tank. Ready to use anti freeze. Not concentrated. In these the pink stuff is correct. Just water risks engine freezing up.
    Don't put just water in the screen wash. Ready to use screen wash is best. Wash up liquid damages the paintwork. Don't risk the wash freezing across the glass on a motorway. You can't see a thing.
    Use the correct oil 0-20 or 5-30. 10-40 or other oils are too thick for these little engines. Never wait for the oil light to come on. That's engine about to fail. Teetering on the edge.
    Some poor advice in this video.

    • @Planefix1
      @Planefix1  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A little water in an expansion tank to "top it up" is absolutely fine inbetween services. And simple water in your screen wash is better than no water!. And of course it's not as good as garage screen wash, that's obvious. I've owned 4 of these cars now and worked on a fair few more. This video is designed for someone who knows absolutely nothing about cars full stop. If you listen gain, I do state many times "general servicing" and "topping up". Of course in a garage or during a service you will check and top up or change complete fluids etc, but for topping up in between services water is just fine. I also disagree with your oil comments. If you think the advice is poor Bob, why are you watching such a basic video .....And if you can do better, be my guest! ..... feedback is a gift, but only when it is relative and fair.
