1:25:11 looking at it in the designer, it has a breadboard with a bunch of code i don't really understand, but it seems to flip upside down if its target is below the base, altitude wise? testing against various aircraft seems to support this. its hand is also capable of various poses, pointing at enemies it detects and giving a thumbs up for a short time after they die. its head even has animated movement. the last noteworthy detail is the mainframe is called Angel of Death

A note on how vehicles deconstruct when destroyed: the blocks that sort of "deconstruct" first are the blocks you placed first when making the craft, and then the blocks that "deconstruct" last are the blocks that were placed on the blueprint last. Thats why sometimes it will deconstruct so beautifully and why other times its so random and messy :).
I think one of the reasons you ships look quite "bath tub-y" is because the water is really transparent. I get it does help film some ships, but with it being really transparent it is harder to see the waterline on the ship. Maybe try colouring the blocks you want under water a different colour or a darker shade? Like how ships irl have red underbellies?
I do normally do try to do just that! I tend to just set the 'alpha' of the underside a lot higher to make It several shades darker, but since this run had the outer hull change so much I never got around to It, the difference Is shocking honestly!
@No--One at least lathrixs designs at the start are worse with more charges his first plasma cannon with 6 charges did around 3k-4.5k damage and his big gun with 50 charges does 35k-45k sure thats like a 10x charge for 10x damage but its clearly crippled by using one big charge seems way better to fire maybe 4 shots to drill through instead of wasting all the damage on tearing all the armour off. Plasma cannons appear to work like irl lasers do surface is destroyed but it does barely anything to below it so needs more individual shots
@No--One im aware of how it works thats why i said multiple weaker shots would be better especially since the propagation absolutely takes out a sphere around where it hits and then goes further
Something about the rules to consider is that while being the average cost of the enemy vehicles is a good idea, multiple of them can show up so being 20% or even 30% more is still a fair fight on average.

Nick and crew have made some, imo, pretty stupid decisions as of late. The resource rework in particular was such a huge pain in the ass, and anime girl dlc? really? That's what you spend your time and resources doing instead of expanding the game's mechanics, fixing bugs, and polishing older mechanics? Either way, the one thing that has been consistently good from the start was the music. The old FtD soundtrack that's been in the game since custom cannons were a thing is sort of nostalgic to me and the new battle music is so over the top kickass that I can't help but like it.

The Event Horizon is in my opinion most underrated craft in the whole game. That thing managed to shoot trough one of my best ships clean from the nose too the back in a single shot

It's an amazing time, and I do thrive on chaos! With so many hands working at once, it can be an amazing time. Someone works on the hull, another on weapons, another on the engine. It's actually turning out to be an excellent way to introduce new players to the game. They can just focus on a single system at a time, learning how to put it together, while the rest of the ship forms around it.
Wdym another full campaign unless I missed something lathrix never finished a campaign, the start of the last time even Started with him stating that this time is the time he will finish it, nothing against that. I too never finish games and just start over constantly even after 60h on a save

I did finish the campaign in which I built the Khorne Flake drone to begin with, along with a silly vehicle montage at the end showcasing all the designs I used throughout that insanely long run! You don't want to do this with plasma CIWS; because Plasma isn't like other setups. It's way more energy intensive to constantly generate charges while firing (as you're not using stored charges), thusly when using all-plasma like this playthrough, you'll either need to compensate with massive energy production + storage, or a massive gun.
@@toxicthereporter515 he means have the turret already face the enemy so it takes less time to target and rotate to incoming munitions, so it responds faster. nothing to do with reload rate or resource consumption.
Y’know. With how combat heavy this particular episode was, It makes me realize how much I actually enjoy the ship building sections in each long video. I would be okay seeing you go to the ship builder every so often to see you work on your ships rather than see it constantly get ripped open every couple minutes
I'd love to see both more robocraft and ftd in the future! I remember growing up watching your crazy robocraft antics. Also weird challenge idea. Teleportation is not very utilized. What if you used that as your primary method of movement? And hell. Throw some graviton rams on your guns. Breaking physics and beaming around sounds fun
Hear me out: capture focused adventure run! Instead of upgrading one ship, capture new ships and make them your flagship, scrapping your old one or making it an ai-controlled minion each time. Rule of cool applies, only switch ships if the newer one is better than the last or you like it more, and you can upgrade your ships as much as you like! Should make for a fun variety focused adventure run :)
I quite like retrofitting AI ships to meet different needs, and since I absolutely suck at building from scratch (mostly since I end up drastically overengineering the armor and making a hull that's like 400k on its own) is usually the way I go about it in the early game.

A sudden 2 hour long FTD challenge of only plasma is a very welcome surprise; Another very good surprise is the Robocraft 2 sponsorship (though it seems it will be more demanding in hardware than the first game so i'm also kinda sad) Also i am absolutely loving the extra details you put on the sides of the ship
It's love how in most playthroughs you use mostly piercing weapons so that the enemies look like sieves with lots of small deep holes, but here it's just BOOM big crater, BOOM deeper crater, BOOM chain reaction and the enemy becomes a shell with most of the innards missing.
I must say I adore these full playthroughs you have been putting out lately. I like that I can watch them the whole way through or in segments just as I please. Also a great way to wind down before going to sleep after a long day. Keep it up!
Challenge Idea. Title: Three Musketeers. You build three Vehicles each one can only have 1 weapon type ( i.e. laser, plasma, advanced cannon, etc.) they must each have a different main purpose for the weapon (anti aircraft, anti munitions, armor peircing, etc.) Each vehicle must be AI controlled when you aren't on board it. Once the weapon system is built you cannot replace it with a different type of weapon ( no switching from Advance cannon to cram, or missles, or whatever) But they can be upgraded ( going from small caliber to larger, or adding barrels) depending on whether land or sea mode you can up the difficulty by making each vehicle have to be a different type ( aircraft, boat, sub, etc.) Repair bots are allowed while in combat. Also each vehicle must be within 10% resources of each other ( example no 90 resource, 100 resource, 110 resource.) All vehicles must be operational before level 25. "Passive" defenses are allowed (i.e. smoke, shields, etc) anyone feel free to help tweak this to make it better.
Holy, I had no idea Robocraft was getting a sequel. I wasn't very happy with how the game evolved, so I really hope the devs have learned from it and make Robocraft 2 the best game it can be. The fact it's going back to 5v5 is a good sign. I remember watching every single Robocraft vid you put out back in the day. Comment for the algorithm, because this one is gonna take a while to get through x3 I'm still not sure how I feel about plasma, honestly. It feels so strong with very little counterplay that's not just "build bigger and use actual air pockets", which isn't really a fun way to defend against.
1:21:0 try making your turret neck deck holes 3X3 and covering the space around the connecters up to the turret itself with heavy armor, it helps with turret popping alot. its something to do with how damage is calculated on the main hull vs subconstructs iirc Edit: loving the FTD content on the channel, and I wish to see from the depths contuied in the future! and mabye robocraft 2 when that comes out!

Honestly im so glad you're making FtD content semi-consistently again. You being the main reason I now have my number 1 most played game on steam at 1875 hours and counting means ive seen all of the the updates, ever. From custom cannons and the split resources to modern FtD with its plasma and MOAM's (Mother of all Missiles.) Its strangely nice to see if come nearly full circle. I, along with probably many other comments, do encourage/request another campaign playthrough soon, as i feel the changes truly do make it worth hopping into one, but i will also admit that im happy with just any content of the game at all. Somehow, nobody else quite manages to hit the nail of this game as well as you do. Thank you, Lathrix.
From the depths is a series i wish to see continued. I would be especially interristed in a run that is relying heavily on shields as i dont think you have ever done that and im fairly bad with shields myself.

Plasma is the second weapon system i learned(after advanced cannons), and i did it without a tutorial. And you don't need the connectors, you use those for turrets and routing the plasma to the gun from a protected location.

Lath, mate, please don't speak badly of your gameplay & designs. They're great. You're doing great. Don't push yourself down with extreme expectations and feelings of inadequacy. If you've won a battle, it's because you played tactically and cunningly. In a naval battle, having the better guns isn't always gonna guarantee a win. But playing to your strengths, and exploiting the ennemy's flaws will. Also, having excess ressources isn't a bad thing. You can never have too mich of it, especially when the ennemy will outgun & out Armor your crafts 90% of the time. So don't feel bad for lingering in a difficulty, o should you feel bad for capturing ships. If you've battled it, you've earned it's spoils.
oh my god the nostalgia, i've revisited robocraft like 3 times within the past 3 years hoping to see that it was alive again. I had no idea the devs were making a sequel to it, this news makes me so happy! I use to love running around in my goofy hollow battleship horse mech that had like a dozen basic machineguns so it would just pepper down anything by death to a thousand bullets.
I would love to see a playthrough where you can only use a single weapon. Meaning only a single missile launcher, or a single plasma gun, or something like that. Bonus points for making it a space station without a turret.

Lath, my dude, the enemy spawning in at the very edge of the rendered portion of the map is meant to simulate you sailing up on an already existing ship. In the real world, enemies don't "spawn in" at all. They approach you from over the horizon. That range advantage is a real and legit thing, which is why actual battleships had guns that could shoot for a couple dozen miles.
Haha true range should be an important thing! And of course It's more realistic, I never would say that ships 'spawn in' close during real world conflicts. However realism vs game design is always something to be considered, especially in a game where laser weaponry, plasma, particle cannons and other more not currently realistically used weapons exist. It can just get a little tiresome that many enemies that are brilliant designs that in the campaign CAN spawn in closer to really showcase their intended weapon styles are made completely obsolete If I happen to have long range weapons due to the current spawning parameters. This was never an argument about realism and certainly the range advantage is and should be a thing - but when there are so many amazing weapon systems and designs It can get a little stale at times! I just wanna see these amazing designs at their full terrifying potential! :D
reply for algorythm boosting... also a tip that you may find helpful the reason your turrets always get bopped so easily is that you often have a single block that your whole cap connects to... if you look at OW turrets they have numerous if not the entirety of the turret being interconnected so that you cant POP them... your turrets trend to being well armored with a single catastrophic flaw... try weaving some armor into your tetris and making your 'port' (where the turret exits the hull) be more than only 1 block thick... because any heat sabot or powerful HE will rupture that block and POP the turret cap. i have the habbit of layering some light/thin armor ON the turret inside the actual armor bulwark of the turret tower... and making sure the turret cap is connected around both the middle and edges of the turret itself.

One way to improve your CIWS is to put some detection on your craft and set the CIWC controller's passive target to enemy.

Y’know. With how combat heavy this particular episode was, It makes me realize how much I actually enjoy the ship building sections in each long video. I would be okay seeing you go to the ship builder every so often to see you work on your ships rather than see it constantly get ripped open every couple minutes

Hear me out: capture focused adventure run! Instead of upgrading one ship, capture new ships and make them your flagship, scrapping your old one or making it an ai-controlled minion each time. Rule of cool applies, only switch ships if the newer one is better than the last or you like it more, and you can upgrade your ships as much as you like! Should make for a fun variety focused adventure run :)
I dont think you can do this. Older versions of the adventure mode was a game over if you lost the original craft.
I quite like retrofitting AI ships to meet different needs, and since I absolutely suck at building from scratch (mostly since I end up drastically overengineering the armor and making a hull that's like 400k on its own) is usually the way I go about it in the early game.

It's love how in most playthroughs you use mostly piercing weapons so that the enemies look like sieves with lots of small deep holes, but here it's just BOOM big crater, BOOM deeper crater, BOOM chain reaction and the enemy becomes a shell with most of the innards missing.

Challenge Idea. Title: Three Musketeers.
You build three Vehicles each one can only have 1 weapon type ( i.e. laser, plasma, advanced cannon, etc.) they must each have a different main purpose for the weapon (anti aircraft, anti munitions, armor peircing, etc.) Each vehicle must be AI controlled when you aren't on board it. Once the weapon system is built you cannot replace it with a different type of weapon ( no switching from Advance cannon to cram, or missles, or whatever) But they can be upgraded ( going from small caliber to larger, or adding barrels) depending on whether land or sea mode you can up the difficulty by making each vehicle have to be a different type ( aircraft, boat, sub, etc.) Repair bots are allowed while in combat. Also each vehicle must be within 10% resources of each other ( example no 90 resource, 100 resource, 110 resource.) All vehicles must be operational before level 25. "Passive" defenses are allowed (i.e. smoke, shields, etc) anyone feel free to help tweak this to make it better.

Holy, I had no idea Robocraft was getting a sequel. I wasn't very happy with how the game evolved, so I really hope the devs have learned from it and make Robocraft 2 the best game it can be. The fact it's going back to 5v5 is a good sign. I remember watching every single Robocraft vid you put out back in the day.

I'm still not sure how I feel about plasma, honestly. It feels so strong with very little counterplay that's not just "build bigger and use actual air pockets", which isn't really a fun way to defend against.
Latheix also a connoisseur of The Game, I personaly love cheering on My Team while watching The Game
1:21:0 try making your turret neck deck holes 3X3 and covering the space around the connecters up to the turret itself with heavy armor, it helps with turret popping alot. its something to do with how damage is calculated on the main hull vs subconstructs iirc

Honestly im so glad you're making FtD content semi-consistently again. You being the main reason I now have my number 1 most played game on steam at 1875 hours and counting means ive seen all of the the updates, ever. From custom cannons and the split resources to modern FtD with its plasma and MOAM's (Mother of all Missiles.) Its strangely nice to see if come nearly full circle.
I, along with probably many other comments, do encourage/request another campaign playthrough soon, as i feel the changes truly do make it worth hopping into one, but i will also admit that im happy with just any content of the game at all. Somehow, nobody else quite manages to hit the nail of this game as well as you do. Thank you, Lathrix.

Plasma is the second weapon system i learned(after advanced cannons), and i did it without a tutorial. And you don't need the connectors, you use those for turrets and routing the plasma to the gun from a protected location.
I love how I instantly recognized the Aerotyrant - by far my favorite craft in FTD.

Don't push yourself down with extreme expectations and feelings of inadequacy.
If you've won a battle, it's because you played tactically and cunningly.
In a naval battle, having the better guns isn't always gonna guarantee a win.
But playing to your strengths, and exploiting the ennemy's flaws will.
Also, having excess ressources isn't a bad thing.
You can never have too mich of it, especially when the ennemy will outgun & out Armor your crafts 90% of the time.
So don't feel bad for lingering in a difficulty, o should you feel bad for capturing ships.
If you've battled it, you've earned it's spoils.

I use to love running around in my goofy hollow battleship horse mech that had like a dozen basic machineguns so it would just pepper down anything by death to a thousand bullets.

Range giving you the win by not letting the enemy fight back is the whole point of range.
Lath, real quick I'm not mad whenever you do the precise targeting on zoom. I know it may feel cheesy, but its so satisfying to see the explosions happen close up.
Winning cause of range alone just means your ship Is a good sniper vessel. Nothing to be ashamed of.

I really hope robocraft 2 doesn't turn into a pay to win game as well.
Lath, my dude, the enemy spawning in at the very edge of the rendered portion of the map is meant to simulate you sailing up on an already existing ship. In the real world, enemies don't "spawn in" at all. They approach you from over the horizon. That range advantage is a real and legit thing, which is why actual battleships had guns that could shoot for a couple dozen miles.
Haha true range should be an important thing! And of course It's more realistic, I never would say that ships 'spawn in' close during real world conflicts. However realism vs game design is always something to be considered, especially in a game where laser weaponry, plasma, particle cannons and other more not currently realistically used weapons exist.
It can just get a little tiresome that many enemies that are brilliant designs that in the campaign CAN spawn in closer to really showcase their intended weapon styles are made completely obsolete If I happen to have long range weapons due to the current spawning parameters.
This was never an argument about realism and certainly the range advantage is and should be a thing - but when there are so many amazing weapon systems and designs It can get a little stale at times!
I just wanna see these amazing designs at their full terrifying potential! :D

the reason your turrets always get bopped so easily is that you often have a single block that your whole cap connects to... if you look at OW turrets they have numerous if not the entirety of the turret being interconnected so that you cant POP them... your turrets trend to being well armored with a single catastrophic flaw... try weaving some armor into your tetris and making your 'port' (where the turret exits the hull) be more than only 1 block thick... because any heat sabot or powerful HE will rupture that block and POP the turret cap.
i have the habbit of layering some light/thin armor ON the turret inside the actual armor bulwark of the turret tower... and making sure the turret cap is connected around both the middle and edges of the turret itself.
