She writes some great lyrics and is one of the only famous pop artists I actually enjoy listening to. She really has talent, which is rare in the mainstream music industry nowadays.

I like her simply for speaking on the bullshit that is or more so has become of pop music, top 40 charts, she's calls a lot of these celebs out on their bullshit and keeps it real in her music, and still topped the charts while calling them out and without kissing ass to get there, that's impressive.

I totally agree with Lorde and her opinions about modern music industry. We must admit beauty and scandals are more important today than having a real vocal/musical talent. When someone just goes against it, and brings it up... GOSH do we dramatize and make a scandal out of it. This is REAL, if you don't want to see it, it's up to you. True talents go way beyond your appearance. It's all about confidence, and that's what Lorde has plenty of. It's just my opinion. :)
Personally I respect how she speaks her mind. She says how she feels and lots of other celebrities don't. She doesn't do it to criticize, it's her opinion and she's entitled to it. I love her as a person and her music is flawless. It's nice to see a change in the industry.
Lorde is one of the few people I can say I have a million questions for that I couldn't get answers to from the internet (about her thoughts on music and stuff). She's just put so much thought into what the hell it is she's doing. She knows it's pop. She knows it's just a bed of nice groovy sounds to go along with the cool poem she wrote... and then the poems are all just amazingly in the right direction in terms of how to make kids feel good about themselves and BE good people. Royals is an awesome song. The whole point is "What the hell is up with the pop music industry today universally encouraging disgracefully decadent lifestyles that are completely unfulfilling and unattainable?" How many people have said that? Millions. How many people have said that to the world by conquering the unprecedented commercial monolith that is the American pop music industry? One. She's so fucking smart and she's younger than ME.

Time for them realize how brainless, emotionless, and unrealistic their pop stars are. JB/One Direction looks like some robotic drones who came out of the music industries' pop-star factory. They are indistinguishable from N'sync, Backstreet Boys, or Justin Timberlake in his youth. Lorde represents everything they are not, she's beautifully unique, she's complex, her music has deep lyrics, and she's a real artist who expresses real emotions.

She's such a beautiful, kind, talented, smart person, which is so unlike a lot of pop stars these days. I hope she never takes anything that these horrible people are saying to heart, because they're complete idiots and not worth her time. She's smart enough to write brilliant, meaningful lyrics in her songs instead of the same old 'I'm crazy about you/you turn me on' lyrics, that despite being in some good songs, is just repetitive and not very interesting anymore without a good beat to go with it. She has this new, interesting rythm in her songs, and creative words to go with them. I think she's brilliant.

I liked Lorde at the beginning but I'm having enough of her right now. I find videos of her everywhere dissing other artists, criticizing them, analyzing them....she should analyze her own hypocrisy, singing about the royals but being a royal herself, attacking pop singers but being a stereotype herself, making music that's not so great, at least not greater than that made by the artists she disses. I don't know, it's disappointing. I guess some people need role models so much that they suddenly see in Lorde an intellectual and a free thinker, and not a singer doing what all singers do: building an image in order to sell herself successfully.

yeah I agree with you but on the other hand, its kinda like mainstream media almost forces you to be this "pop" stereotype otherwise you wont make it big. And you have to admit, atleast once in your life when you were a child, you dreamed of being famous, she's got this big chance to make it big, and if I were her, would be doing exactly what shes doing right now and taking that chance. And with all this fame of coarse comes riches, some of her songs she wrote on her EP perhaps even (although probably far fetched) some songs on her album were written before she got a big fame boom in new zealand and then worldwide. Lorde is a very beautiful unique looking very talented young lady and so classy too. Not sultry looking like most of the young star artist these days. I have been playing in bands most of my life and she inspired me to record our first single (Silver Moon) my whole band watched her live when she won her trophy’s at the Grammy’s and she look so classy the way she was dressed in her long trousers and white top when she performed live. Eyes too far apart is refreshing. Too close together and their only use is for predators. Better able to tell distance from prey with close eyes. To be honest, I admire Lorde in a sense because she doesn't have to get naked - or even half naked - to be pretty or popular. She didn't have to show off her tits or anything. +Jennifer Marie I don't know how you could possibly think people sing in an American accent. For one, Australians actually don't have as different an accent as Kiwis do. I'm from Sydney and when I travel in America people usually can't guess I'm not from the states because my accent is basically non existent.
When singing vowels and such are flattened out where most accents accentuate different parts of words, etc, which is why in the majority of countries people sing without an accent. To many, it's like Americans sing similar to how we do (Aussies).
