This idea that Adam Sandler is better in scary roles than in funny ones is interesting to me. I would have loved to see him as Donny in Inglourious Basterds, as Tarantino had initially wanted.
Good stuff, good stuff. I felt like I wasn't enjoying Punch Drunk Love as I was watching it, but went home, thought about it a bit, saw it a second time, and utterly adored it. I love it when that happens.
if you're unsure of PTA i suggest to watch all of his flms in order and then watch the ones u found hardest to watch(if any)again. there is no question in my mind that he is a cinematic genius.
To be honest, even in PTA's interview for The Master with Mark he says himself "We're low on story". But I don't see that really as a bad thing, given how good I think PTA is at creating these really interesting characters. Just doing a character piece is fine when you're that good.
The figure in the background is an out of focus women in a red dress this would suggest that it is leana Stalking Barry. As with Popeye and olive oyle she was the one manipulating him to fall in love
Punch-drunk love fascinates me. Amazing film. She is wearing red blurred at the end of the aisle which turns the film on its head. What a film. What an experience.
Watched it on Netflix, loved it and I'm so glad. I picked it because I am undecided on PTA so want to see more and my mom liked the older Adam Sandler stuff. She didn't take to it.
I'm assuming Kermode means the woman in the red dress, I'm also assuming that she is Lena. She admits in the film that she was seeking him out from the start after being shown a photograph of him. Why would her following him change the power structure?
When I first started discovering more "critically acclaimed" cinema I watched a few of PTA's most acclaimed movies and thought they were all fine but I didn't quite get why everyone loved them, but recently I went through and watched them all in chronological order and something just clicked for me. He is an absolutely genius filmmaker and has made so many distinctly different movies but all equally as engaging and intriguing.
Kermode Please review the Bollywood film JAB TAK HAI JAAN Directed by late Yash Chopra Starring: Shahrukh Khan and Katrina Kaif It is a modern day love story. I loved it. What is your opinion and feelings of the film?

I remember telling friends to watch this film but they thought I was fucking with them when they heard Adam Sandler was in it. Great stuff though.
Loved this film from the off and agree with Mark. Could write more, but it's late.
Popeye and PDL the same story? Never thought of that.
Does this mean that the power structure of the film was affected as Mr Anderson used his family instead of Mr Sandler using his friends on set.
I wanna see a leonard cohen biopic with sandler n perhaps hoffman playing the jew with the golden voice

I just don't get the criticism that The Master "has no plot". What film are these people seeing?!

Are you kidding? It's generally considered to be the worst PTA film. I think it's the most misunderstood PTA film.
The Master was boring...
