I was at that concert. She was absolutely amazing! Her voice was perfect throughout the entire concert. When I watched this I cried because it brought back such wonderful memories. Until I heard Dimash almost 4 and a half years ago, Barbra Streisand was my most favorite vocalist of all time. (This concert was held at the same time Dimash was entering the world.) It would have been unbelievable if these two voices could have come together. Great reaction! Thank you for exposing a new generation to Barbra!!!
@Afix Check out his latest video, Amanat. ;) Def different from what you've heard. A lot of the "oversinging" videos are from competitions (or versions of songs born at competitions), where he had to go all out or risk being voted off (e.g. China's Singer competition). I personally like both, his delicate singing, and powerful singing. But we all have different tastes, and that's okay.
@Afix Ah, I get that. He also sings in baritone though, although not often. For example, in Ulisse, he sings in all baritone while Aida sings soprano. Also Ti Amo Cosi. Also the beginning of Sinful Passion. Then there are songs in a bit higher key, but still masculine, like Samaltau. But yes, in a lot of songs he sings in high keys for sure, and I understand that's not for everyone. ;)
@Afix I can understand that for sure. Btw, another new song on his channel, Kieli Meken, is def masculine, and very catchy. But yes, he was indeed trained to sing from baritone to soprano, so that's what he does. It's not for everyone. And I totally appreciate you giving him a try. There are several singers I'm crazy about, along with Dimash, and almost no one will even try to listen, because it's not mainstream. So that's cool when people are open! I used to live in Peru and there are two singers I love. The first is not so famous, but a very powerful and masculine singer, Jeremy Gomez (check out A Mi Manera). The second is the DIVA of Peru, an absolute precious singer, celebrating 50 years in music, the one and only Eva Ayllon. I highly recommend them. Almost no one outside of Peru has ever heard of them. ;)

For me this is the best ever. Phenomenal voice, clarity, range, dynamic and vibrato and het timing with placing the notes is simply incredible. The orchestra and production of this concert show are amazing. Best ever. Icon.
That orchestra was conducted by the late, legendary Marvin Hamlisch who was a close friend of Barbra’s since he was rehearsal pianist for Funny Girl. I saw this first as the HBO special in 1994 and have watched it countless times since. It never fails to give me chills.

Nice to see a younger generation reacting to Barbra so favorably. One of the finest singers ever! So lucky to have seen her in concert in Toronto about 15 years ago. Changed my life. Have you ever checked out the a capella vocal group Voctave? Give them a listen - maybe start with the Disney Love Medley.
Her consistency and emphasis at the lower end of the vocal range is amazing in addition to her high notes. Sometimes I feel that is lacking in some singers where it feels like they just want to get past the low notes to hit the belts.
Its called dynamics. Going from high to low, loud to soft. The younger generations have literally abandon this aspect of singing. Which is a pity to me. When she switched from the big belt note to that soft sound she sang in Papa Can U Hear Me, it sounds soooooo beautiful.
I am so glad to see you into Barbra like this. I’m 60 years old and I’ve loved her my whole life. Thank you for this video. Listen to the song Since I Fell For You she recorded in 1970. I think you will be impressed.

So yeah she’s Broadway but she’s also pop. Just not today’s Melissma filled, falsetto using styles. Back then all your tones had to sound connected.

What a wonderful reaction. I always enjoy your passionate reactions. Barbra streisand to me is more than power and resonance. She is a master at control. She is the greatest female technical singer in history
i'm very late to this reaction, a year or so, but thank you for your thoughtful and technical analysis of this, part of what has to be one of the best live concerts ever recorded. seeing it now takes me back to when i first saw it airing live on HBO ... i was in middle school, and a teacher had given us the choice to watch this for extra credit. god bless that teacher, for seeing barbra streisand live for the first time (well, live on television), was a transformative moment ... within a week i had worn out the home VHS recording from rewinding (remember those days? haha) and had begged my parents to buy the "deluxe" "two-CD" set (big times back in those days) .. literally every performance was a master class in singing technique, emotion and introduced me to this absolute powerful woman. sorry for the long comment, but your reaction and seeing this pop up brought back a lot of memories, and echo some of my own observations, namely the crystalline power that streisand projects here .. at this point she was in her early 50s, and had been singing for around 30 years, but the voice retained its sublime power and nuance. bravo to streisand for juxtaposing the younger with the older here, and showing how the voice matures healthily while still remaining powerful. anyway, thanks for the reaction, and looking forward to checking out some of yoru other reactions. i'm sure by this point you've watched the entire '94 concert but if not, "Someday" and "My Man" are must sees.
no one can sing a song like Barbra. Not only does she sing with emotion but you can see the emotion in her face. Barbra is perfection and I am glad you enjoyed her performance. "Papa Can You Hear Me" is from the movie "Yentyl" that Barbra produced, directed, starred in, sang in and she had a hand in the writing of the script. All I can say to you is listen to more of Barbra's selections on You Tube because you will hear more of the perfection that is Barbra - no one compares with Barbra (and that is the way she spells her name). The more you hear her sing the more appreciation you will have of this woman who has done so much through her charity work to help people.
You can make a career just on Barbra aline given the amount of music, television, film and video. Always a pleasure to watch a reaction to her... I've been hooked for 45 years.

She captivates, that's a really good description! You need to listen to a song called "The Way He Makes Me Feel"...it's very emotional, you need to see the film and you'll understand. The very end where she's on the boat, my grandmother, on my dads side, was actually on that boat in the film so she actually met Ms Streisand.
I saw her in the theater the movie tha way we were i was 14yrs old i went back to see the movie 7 times yes 51 yrs later i sill love her couldnt aford to see her too expensive but worth.every penny
This guy is too cute! When he heard the phrase " like slaves they follow everywhere she goes" he was momentarily taken aback & then said aloud "slaves?" But he didn't dwell on it or let it stop him from enjoying the moment. He acknowledged it, absorbed it, and moved on from it. There's a tremendous lesson here for each one of us. We don't have to have a negative reaction. We can listen & perhaps disagree with one another yet not become defensive. Life's a learning process.
So happy someone commented on this. I thought our video host might've missed what the lyric was calling "slaves" - the "they" referred to the film character's eyes (rather than to any person). Anyway, I too admired the way our host moved along so easily and didn't get stuck on that moment. Great video!
Barbra Streisand is one of my favorite belters alongside Mariah Carey and Lara Fabian. She’s exemplary. You should react to her medley of A House Is Not A Home/One Less Bell To Answer. It’s excellent!
I have requested the live version (from the 1971 Burt Bacharach TV special) of the “One Less Bell...” medley on numerous sites, and have seen countless others do so as well...still nothing! 😕 When she reaches the emotional peak in the second half (“I’m not meant to live alone. Turn this house into a home...”) she is devastating. It is pure Streisand magic.
@@starlight0002 I agree. There are indeed more. I discovered her at 9 when Stoney End came out (the single, then the album.) One of my older brothers would play it. So, I became a big fan during the 70s and, while I love all of it, that’s the period I like best. The 70s in general were such a dynamic time for her both musically and at the box office. I’d like to see reactions to something that the non-Barbra fan would be surprised by...e.g., “Free The People”, “Space Captain”, “Let Me Go”, “New York State of Mind”, blah...With those you not only get a Reactor’s reaction but often some subscribers’ reactions, too. There is one reactor that has done many from that period such as “Guava Jelly”, “Superman” and “Lost Inside of You”. I frequently check her out. Anywho...maybe I should start my own. Though it’d have to have a different angle since I know all the songs! 🤔 hmmm...
I second and third that Jon! (Which I’m allowed to do since the performance features two Barbras!) Listen to Jon, Mr. JTV! You would be the first to react to this stunning performance! You’ll be so popular and all the other reactors will be jealous, but still want to hang out with you!!
@@jons.105 At least not if you’re vying (yet again) to run the punch bowl at the Way We Were Winter Wonderland 2021 dance this year. Especially when you were soooo close last year...until that embarrassing incident with the flask...😳
And that's why she's a legend and still can out perform most current singers of any genre half her age or younger even now in her late 70s. Also, she didn't abuse her voice very much over the decades through touring.
There was a 20-something year gap in her live performances too. That must've helped. It's miraculous - at this writing she's nearing 80 and still can sing rather well! She said the gap was about stage fright that started after an incident of forgetting a lyric. Then, she explained, somebody invented those transparent teleprompters, and her fears subsided.
A great singer touches the soul. But her control is amazing! I have been listening to her since I was 13 years old and I will be 70 soon. She is among a handful of technically perfect GOATs: Whitney, Aretha, Ella, and Sarah!
I've been waiting a long time for you to react to the master vocalist : Barbra Streisand. Hope you can check her video recording the " Make our Garden Grow " 🙏🙏🙏❤️
It's even more fun if you watch her movies and see what she is signing about. She is good at comedy and drama. I like ON A CLEAR DAY, FUNNY GIRL, THE MAIN EVENT. YENTYL is good too but it came out when I was older and was too busy to watch a long movie.
She's one of the last great singers. She's from the era of Frank Sinatra, Peggy Lee, Dean Martin, Sarah Vaughn, Judy Garland, Ethel Merman, Nat King Cole, Johnny Mathis, Tony Bennet.....There isn't going to be singers as great as I just mentioned that sang naturally with big orchestration, expansive sound and as robust. Barbra Streisand is definite an icon!
what does her age has to do with it? Sinatra was in his early fifites when he sang My way. Pavarotti, Charles Aznavour, you name them. Why is this unusual for a female singer?
@@normadesmond6017 I think it's unusual because as what I have observed, there are some singers that when they reach a certain age their voices somehow changes... but Streisand's voice is really as flawless as it was when she's in her 20s. And I've seen this video of her 2019 concert and she still got it! It's truly a God-given talent.
Barbra's voice was so strong at this concert. She was opting for higher octaves in some spots of the songs. She is one of a kind.

Barbra Streisand is a legend! I love her film Yentl. I have this DVD of her performances.
beautiful reaction to a living legend, truly a one of a kind talent, bravo:-)
....so, so beautiful⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Thank you for posting this. She rarely sings her movies llve
This is one of my favorite Barbra performance, I saw her with my mom live in Chicago.
Incredible as always!
I was at this concert, it was phenomenal!!!
The real one and only!!!!
Loved this. Please do more of Barbra!
It was a great concert . . The last of the tour . . I was there . . .way in the back . . . At the end of the show she sang Somewhere . . And she left stage . . .the crowd was loud . . .she came back out yelled "what do you want?" . .then she said they need to do some pick-ups for the tv show . . And asked the crowd if ithey could stay . . .of course 15000 people stayed . . .she sang 4 songs and did What Are Youd doing the rest of life? . .which u can find on youtube. That song got released as a bonus song on some video releases . . .and also on the CBS broadcast in 1996. . .at the end of that song she says "thank you for being part of this tv show"
I love Barbra and I love this movie, the music is amazing
Amazing voice there is still today and yhen no one who can hd a note like her she makes you feel the song she has so much conection to her songs i can ho on and on.theres just so much to talk about 45 yrs watchi g her listening to her i never get enough i saw the way we were 7 times in the theater i was 14 teen never inspired by any other si ger again
God given talent.
She has more control of her voice than I have over my entire life
It's a "rolling" vibrato. That's what makes it pleasant to the ear. She is nature and intellect meeting head on.
stunning.
Legendary
Fkn unbeatable awesomeness.
Marvin Hamlisch was the conductor and had been orchestrating her music since he was 19 years old until his death a few tears ago.
God, what a voice...
Streisand is amazing. You must listen to her earlier work as well. Her voice has changed over the years and it's magical...at any age.
I saw her in the theater the movie tha way we were i was 14yrs old i went back to see the movie 7 times yes 51 yrs later i sill love her couldnt aford to see her too expensive but worth.every penny
Best singer in the world!
Barbra is the best voice of all time !!! Period.
What a legendary performer
Great choice Streisand is legend!!!
Barbra Streisand is one of my favorite belters alongside Mariah Carey and Lara Fabian. She’s exemplary. You should react to her medley of A House Is Not A Home/One Less Bell To Answer. It’s excellent!
I love Barbra's long notes.
@@starlight0002 I was responding to the poster’s request for a reaction to the performance-not the performance itself. Have you seen any?
@@starlight0002 That’d be great. I’ve been asking and looking for a reaction to that for some time. Thanks.
🤔 hmmm...
That orchestra was led by Marvin Hamlish, who is star in his own right.
No-one can resist to the best singer ever!!!!!
You have excellent taste sir. I really enjoyed your video.
This right here is God showing off. Phenomenal
Would love for you to see/watch her duet with herself on "One Less Bell" medley from 1971.
I second and third that Jon! (Which I’m allowed to do since the performance features two Barbras!) Listen to Jon, Mr. JTV! You would be the first to react to this stunning performance! You’ll be so popular and all the other reactors will be jealous, but still want to hang out with you!!
@@BrettTwinSavage I heard that!
@@jons.105 Was that “I heard that” 😃 as in “I know that’s real!” 😝 or “I heard that” 🤨 as in “Whadju say about me??” 😡
@@BrettTwinSavage I would never cross a Brother of Barbra.
Or with drugs, alcohol or smoking.
@@tlw1950 exactly. And that's a huge factor. She's always lived a very clean and pure lifestyle.
Best singer ever ❤
Dude...goosebumps
A great singer touches the soul. But her control is amazing! I have been listening to her since I was 13 years old and I will be 70 soon. She is among a handful of technically perfect GOATs: Whitney, Aretha, Ella, and Sarah!
Love love your video
Awesome
Love, love, love that song.
I was waiting for this 😭💜
I've been waiting a long time for you to react to the master vocalist : Barbra Streisand. Hope you can check her video recording the " Make our Garden Grow " 🙏🙏🙏❤️
Isnt that so ironic that when Lara Fabian did the “Yentle” medley that she also was wearing a white suit at the “Pure concert”😏
She didn't dare!!!!!!
I thought of the white suit immediately !!
@@srkadict oooooow yes oh yes she did 🤣🤣🤣

It's even more fun if you watch her movies and see what she is signing about. She is good at comedy and drama. I like ON A CLEAR DAY, FUNNY GIRL, THE MAIN EVENT. YENTYL is good too but it came out when I was older and was too busy to watch a long movie.
You are awesome.
Never got to see her in concert 300 dollars a ticket and worth evey penny
She's one of the last great singers. She's from the era of Frank Sinatra, Peggy Lee, Dean Martin, Sarah Vaughn, Judy Garland, Ethel Merman, Nat King Cole, Johnny Mathis, Tony Bennet.....There isn't going to be singers as great as I just mentioned that sang naturally with big orchestration, expansive sound and as robust. Barbra Streisand is definite an icon!
She's 52 here omg! The best artist. ❤️❤️❤️
what does her age has to do with it? Sinatra was in his early fifites when he sang My way. Pavarotti, Charles Aznavour, you name them. Why is this unusual for a female singer?
@@normadesmond6017 I think it's unusual because as what I have observed, there are some singers that when they reach a certain age their voices somehow changes... but Streisand's voice is really as flawless as it was when she's in her 20s. And I've seen this video of her 2019 concert and she still got it! It's truly a God-given talent.
@@barbraevergreen agree with you. Her voice is flawless. When you look at her in her twenties, or decades later. A perfectly tuned instrument.
