I feel the classic fits more tight than the regular fit. I always have to order a size larger if it's classic fit but with regular I just order the size I normally get.

Every cotton polo shirt I have ever bough, it either in the trash or donated. They've all shrunk to the point that they no longer fit. That's why I wear golf polos, but they fit like CRAP. If I paid $80+ for a rag, I'd be pissed.
Wash 30° C and dont tumble dry. Make sure to hang them on the shoulders when wet, so they can hang down straight and they shouldnt shrink on you at all

Classic = good for tall athletic body
Regular = good for average, rounder tummy
Slim = good for slimmer body, shorter torso

Same here, shrunk to the point that I can't raise my arms without showing off my midsection. Switched to LLBEAN.

I would recommend to go with XL, as in XL chest circumference measures 44-46", I think XXL will be too big as it comes in 48-49" chest circumference.
