While im just sticking with the main HR novels, Im making an exception for anything that involves Vern in a major capacity because of her impending Acolyte appearance. So I definitely gotta get this book too when it drops.
We absolutely love the High Republic series and listen to every one as they come out. With the delay on Escape from Valo's audiobook, are we going to encounter any spoilers if we listen to this one first? Thanks!
I just got this book today, and I’m looking forward to getting into it. However, Out of the Shadows is probably at the bottom of my list of High Republic books that I’ve read (all Adult and YA novels). So after watching this review I’m a little less excited than I was initially.
This book seems like its leading up to something big which will happen later in another book. I think that something is gonna be like the Nihil attacking the Jedi Temple or something.
I’ve only read about 35 canon novels, but “Out of the Shadows” was my very least favorite of these. When I saw the character list for “Defy The Storm” about a week ago, I figured it was an indirect sequel to “Shadows” and decided to pass on this one. Thanks for confirming I made the right choice (and taking this one for the team!)
Disappointed that it doesn’t progress the main plot forward, but I’ll still read. Eye of Darkness was my favorite book. I’m excited to see the next big battle between the high republic and the Nihl
Thus far, it seems like you'll be fine. Probably best to catch up eventually though before Trials of the Jedi, it'll only make the whole experience more fulfilling.
The High Republic is occasionally just ok, none of it is bad exactly, however there was that one Deus Ex Yoda kinda pissed me off but other than that I've mostly enjoyed it all
Imo she's the low point of THR. A Test of Courage was great, but both Out of the Shadows and Mission to Disaster were pretty boring. I just started Path of Deceit, so we'll see how it turns out.
I strongly disagree. She's my least favourite author in the initiative. Out of the Shadows is among my least favourite Star Wars books, and I personally don't like her writing style or think she has particularly strong prose.

That cover art looks dope AF.

Are you going to make a spoiler review with Easter eggs? I'd love to hear your thoughts on that Epilogue!
Vern is going to be in Temptation of the Force. So I imagine whatever happens here for her is going to impact that book massively too.

For me it was written with a better pace and it felt not as rushed when it came to the ending when compared to Out of the shadows
I hope we see imri again, really like his and Vern’s relationship
Agreed. Something was missing. I wasn’t invested and had a few times when I got confused on what planet/story a chapter was on
Thank you, Alex! 📖
Will you guys be playing the remake of Dark Forces when it comes out?

after reading phase one, since phase two is a prequel, is it okay to jump ahead to three before circling back to two?
I would really recommend reading phase 2. The things revealed there are going to be really important to understanding phase 3
@@jpgrennan very well

justina ireland is currently my favorite star wars writer. even the mid-grade novels are so, so good.

I had the same feeling on this book. Wasn't my favorite. Some cool moments but overall the book didn't really do it for me
I did not care for Out of the Shadows now on worried
Just finished this book in preparation for Temptation of the Force…I agree with you, it was just okay. Very forgettable.
