Both have somewhat limited articulation but they look so badass, hope mcfarlane makes a few demons other than the marauder (which is 100 bucks now so I wouldn't mind a variant or re-release) to go with him. Great review josh!

Seeing the ab crunch on the classic Doomguy was a great thing to see. If you haven't picked him up yet, the hero version of the movie Black Adam can actually do a full bend forward with both the waist and the torso. The range is really improving as they release more figures.
I feel like McFarlane put in a significant amount care and attention into the classic Doom Slayer and I couldn't be more happy about it, so glad I ordered it. If I were you, I would just take the hands and wrist joints off the ember skin and put them on the classic one. The gun holding positions will look a bit better. Just a suggestion though.
I flipped when I first got the email for the preorder for the classic doom guy. In person, the green of the torso looks incredible. The texture with the paint just gives it such a great look and the figure came out beautiful.
I been kicking myself for missing out on the classic doom guy. It’s the only version of this character I’m aware of. Which is crazy given he’s such an iconic video game character. I want to get one to stand next to my Gordon Freeman on my shelf.
I'm so glad I picked up the doomguy figure, aside from the crappy hinge wrists (the new black atom figures have the same thing) it's a great figure and one I've wanted since I was a kid. and also yes, the ember slayer figure is just a reuse of the standard slayer and yes he has terrible articulation.
I loved the Classic Doomguy, but I wish they made the visor transparent with a visible pissed off face underneath it, but oh well. My only problems with it are the single jointed elbows and no bicep swivel, thinking of making some screw peg mods on them. Also while I love the Super Shotgun, kinda wish they would make other weapons like the Plasmagun, normal Shotgun or maybe the BFG 9000. Here's hoping McFarlane makes more Doom figures, I'd love some Demons, or maybe some of the other Doomguy skins like the 2016 Praetor Suit, Doom 2, Doom 64, Quake Ranger and maybe just for fun, the Commander Keen Slayer skin.
Missed out on the classic Green but the MTS had classic Red Doomguy for $15 picked him up on a whim and he’s pretty great with a great orange wash on the red armor one of my faves
Fantastic review really glad i found this. I managed to find both of these guys and man i cannot wait to get my hands on them. The classic doomguy is just such an amazing look, and the ember skin is one of my favorites in eternal. These boys are going to get displayed nicely with the clone troopers lol
I just got my Astro Slayer figure (White armor counterpart to these figures) and I'm loving it! My only issue with it is that I'm struggling to pose it due to how bulky his armor is. Do you have any suggestions on how to find a solid display pose for it? Great review btw!
I will love to see Todd releasing figures of Starship Troopers and Fallout, specially for the creatrues, both have such an amazing spectrum of monsters very compatible for Mcfarlane normal and megafigs scale :D

All we need now is Doom Guy without the Helmet..maybe a bloody version, but this classic version is perfect. EDIT: ha, just reached the part of your video where you said youd like to change the head..Great taste sir. 🤣
Hands wise, any character holding a weapon should have vertical hinges. If they must pick one form of movement, switch to vertical hinges. It will allow the wrist to work appropriately while also being aesthetically pleasing. Then that ab crunch is wonderful on classic. It also looks like they avoided the exposed cavity there more articulated figures tend to have. I have never played Doom and don't have any interest, but I can see why folks will really want Classic.
McFarlane Doom Slayer and Doom Marine shit-stomp all the McFarlane Batman figures any day. Those Batman figures are too problematic and always need to be modified in some way…….
The ember one is a repaint of the original Slayer with those extra fire parts stuck on

I absolutely love the classic doom guy skin as shown oh my profile pic, and I also like how this figure is able to keep his super shotgun in his hand.
The sculpting is so good on these figures. I just wish the articulation would be as good.
