You do have to spend some time setting the saw up... blade, fence, etc. But once done, the saw is great. Fairly compact which is Nice th-cam.com/users/postUgkxXh-4_3-ZT1fFWP91ZV7iVqzElr0lEb-a I did get an Incra Miter Gauge which takes some setup as well. The stock miter gauge can be adjusted in the miter slot with a little painter's tape... this tightens up the side to side play a lot.
I have seen Don Hector's tablesaw(and other tools) on woodgear's web site, and the machines he has build are an inspiration and top quality!

Amazing and brilliant. Plans purchased and build will be under way as soon as I pick up the arbor and motor I've purchased for it. Thanks for the effort - it really does put others to shame. No up-turned skill saw build for me!
wow, it's the best proyect about construction table saw, really I am so surprised with the desing and measure with the table saw, it's a very good job, thanks for your draft, greetings from Bogota- Colombia
¿Has visitado nuestra página web?
Best custom Table saw build I've ever seen, respect 👍💪 I just built a tablesaw on my own (got a video in my channel). but compare to yours it's kind of.... small 😁 thanks for sharing!
Muy, muy buen trabajo. Felicitaciones.
Had to subscribe. You took a taught i had in my head and turned it into reality. Wow. Words not enough say how awesome this is. Well done, well done. Its so neat and tidy. Pure perfection.
At minute 4.01 the slider shows a gap (~6 mm I guess) with the blade, wide enough to catch a small refill when keeping the slider fixed and cutting with the fence on the other side. This is when the zero clearence insert makes sense, though I know is quite difficult to implement in a sliding table. Any thoughts? Thank you!. Excelent work!
Hello Eskerinola, in the video, a metal surface is used. I tried that at first as well in my build, but found it not straight enough to work with. So I replaced it with a 20mm MDF top as suggested in the drawings, and that makes it much easier to get an almost zero-clearance around the blade without having to worry about the blade catching on the metal. Cheers, Luc
With a couple of layers of Epoxy, I find it very durable to work with. And after some time, just give it a good sanding and another coating to make it look like new again. If there's really extensive damage to the surface, then replacing the top is not difficult or expensive to do, but can't see that happening any time soon in my case.. Cheers, Luc
Your answer makes sense. For the top, I first tried with 1/4" normal carbon iron sheet. It came bent from the cutter (he said the cutting process always does that). There was no way to straighten it. Then I tried with 1/8" iron sheet. It also came bent but could nearly straighten by bolting it to a 1.25"x 3/16" welded angle structure. Lot of work. I could've used your simple solution. May be next time. Thank you again.
Been there and done that.. can't say I 'wasted' time on it.. was a learning experience, but in hindsight, should have gone MDF straight away as many people (including Hector) recommended. But I was a bit blinded by the excellent looks of Andre's saw in the video and wanted to have that as well. So I understand you're in the process of building the saw as well? Do you keep any report/blog or journal of it? You can find mine here: www.ibuildit.ca/ibuildit-forum/viewtopic.php?id=929 Cheers, Luc
Looks like no one left any comments for while. I'm going to keep this alive. The plans you get are well worth the $20.00!! As most know development costs can be substantial and take years to recoup. Good job and God bless.
Boah eyh ....
Excellent job, looks like you have all the features of a much more expensive machine (any missed will be on version 2). ;-) If you don't mind me asking, what's the approximant cost of your saw ($850.0 to $1K)? After six months, how is it holding up?
Wow!! really impressive... almost the real thing!! I suppose I'll be even more impressed if you share the aproximate cost difference between this saw and a similar sized commercial one.
This saw is awesome. My biggest concern is that the blade tilts to the right, towards the rip fence, and your rip fence does not allow for repositioning to the left of the blade. The right-tilt system has been largely abandoned by major commercial saw manufacturers as it increases the risk of kickback. I'm guessing you don't use your rip fence during bevel cuts and rely on the miter slide table only? Although this could be tricky with strips of wood narrower than 20 or even 15 cm. Perhaps this is a point to consider if you ever think about designing an upgraded version. This is an amazing DIY machine, nonetheless. Congrats!
Tilting the blade to the left is the American way and indeed is safer for ripping with the fence on the right. But we believe that Europeans are more safety conscious than Americans and coped with the problem by using a riving knife which eliminates the kickback hazard. Longer sliding tables also have alignment guides that hold the workpiece and allow ripping narrow pieces with the right-tilt blade (To see what we mean you my view - for example - Felder catalog of accessories). Anyway in our opinions it is possible to rip narrow workpieces with the FMT provided: 1. You use a riving knife 2. Use a push stick or any other kind of pusher 3. Keep the blade cover/guard in place Unfortunately, most american woodworkers are prone to unmount the blade cover. Just look at the many videos on woodworking. And real riving knives are recently very slowly being adopted by major manufacturers. It must be pointed out that splitters are NOT the same as real riving knives. Fortunately, push-sticks are very popular, but again, not enough to guarantee full safety.

I am floored by how awesome this is. This has all the features of a $10,000 saw... amazing.

It's not that price!
missing scoring blade, but still pretty impressing for homemade

Seriously done with Felder. Never again! One of the lessons in life.
Yeah, we were constantly trying to adjust the Felder saw we use to use at work. For the amount of money these things cost....
This was the best project for a table saw that I had seen on youtube, Congrats!!
It's got all of the features I expect of a panel saw. Bloody brilliant!
This table saw, is out of this world.
wow. wow I'm speechless at how functional this tool is. One of the (if not) best I've ever seen!
Amazing and brilliant. Plans purchased and build will be under way as soon as I pick up the arbor and motor I've purchased for it. Thanks for the effort - it really does put others to shame. No up-turned skill saw build for me!

HELL i'm glad i saw your work before finishing the design of my own table saw! one hell of a job, congrats!
Kompliment

Da hat jemand richtig viel Zeit investiert. Respekt!!

awsome saw
Congratulations guys. Brilliant work. Where can I get access to the blueprints

Astounding!! When will you post the plans??
Very good, Very good, I would very much like you to send me the plans, I'm a Marceneiro in Brazil, RJ, grateful.
Brilliant. Amazing value to many makers.
Wow.... that must have been a huge task.... so impressive...

Now wouldn't the problem be that -being the top made in MDF- it would wear out too soon?

Wow, Great concept and superb craftsmanship! Very nice work! Thanks for sharing!
lost for words. totally amazing, i wish i could build it.
Great effort with dedication.... Really even the Chinese can't make an exact copy like that... Great great great
Really nice build. How many saws did it take to build a saw?
It was 227 people that gave this a thumbs down. I guess they don't know great craftsmanship when they see it, or they work for a major tool company.
The plans are very detailed, glad I purchased them.
Seriously, this is amazing work. Congratulations!
Very very nice..This is a prefect machine .Great design and Unbelievable.Excellent
Great design and build! I subscribed because I need to see more.
You did an incredible job building that table saw. I subscribed. Hopefully you will make some projects with this saw and post on TH-cam.
Plans are already available. If you are interested, please send us a mail with your location. We will send you them asap for free.
Hector, I have a table saw. You should sell the plans. I enjoy watching homemade tools and machinery especially when they are made so well.
Thank you for you praise. If you ever consider upgrading to this type of saw you are welcome to aks for the plans.

Is this homemade? if so, how can you made it such amazing things. Wow......👍👏👏🙏🙏
Perhaps someone could answer this technical question: Why do these Format sliding tables have a roller carriage in between the table and the rails? I don't see the purpose as of yet. Why not simply attach the wheels to the table itself?
Very simple. The floating carriage doubles the travel length of the sliding table. Works just liike telescopic drawer slides. It also provides additional stability to the sliding table.
this is the best table saw i saw
