    A rather costly mistake not disabling the Sawstop mechanism prior to cutting the aluminum track. I made that same mistake when cutting a mirrored acrylic sheet. It only takes once in having to buy another safety mechanism and you won’t forget again. Your sled though is very well planned and an awesome build. I have flagged and saved your video so that I can reference when building my new sled. Thank You for sharing...👏🏽👍🏽

    That may be the coolest crosscut sled I've ever seen. Tamar (3x3 Customs) has a really cool one but you may have her beat. I dunno. I'd vote for you just because you had the guts to screw your fence in final position without the 5 cut method or even a single test cut. That's confidence!

    I really like your design for this sled. Your SawStop table saw has a key on the right side of the power switch that allows you to override the safety device for when you are cutting metal pieces, or when you are cutting wet lumber. The replacement brakes and blades can be very expensive, using this will save you a bunch of money.

    • @HammerSound-1

      My hands are very dry, so it is safer to wear gloves.

    • @emulgatorx
      @emulgatorx 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Once it cuts through the glove, it will trigger. I'd still be afraid that the glove gets stuck on the saw tooth and gets pulled down together with the blade with the hand still inside. So I don't think it's generally advisable or safe, even with a Saw Stop.
      It's weird that it triggered in this situation given that the undamaged glove should have provided isolation.

    • @JustaPilot1
      @JustaPilot1 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not wearing gloves is a good idea for most tools if your wearing them using a SawStop it will still work. The microsecond the blade cuts through the glove and touches you skin the saw will activate.

      @@JustaPilot1 true, BUT the blade has a chance to not cut but get caught in the glove, and the the retracting blade could pull in your fingers. Might not cut them, but break them. I would rather go the better-safe-than-sorry way.

      @@JustaPilot1 Then I am sure you did RTFM which states:
      What if I am wearing gloves when cutting? Will the safety system still work?
      Do not wear gloves when using a SawStop saw because the glove can snag on the blade and pull your hand into the blade at high velocity. The safety system will still react as soon as your skin contacts the blade, but the resulting injury can be more severe because of the velocity of your hand.
      You may own a sawstop, but I have read and understood the manual.
