    Dissing my Hometown. I like you Colin, but I don't think it's fair that you call KC 'boring' - World Class BBQ, Great Museums, Nice Parks, Nice Lakes, Beautiful Architecture. I don't live there anymore, but it really is a great little city. As far as the question goes, NO. KC will not regret the decision. Alex Smith is a class act, nice person all that, and a good QB (not great, but good) but his post season record speaks for itself.

  • @JacaboBlanco
    @JacaboBlanco 6 ปีที่แล้ว +22

    Colin implying that the Cheifs fan base doesn't want to win, but rather just be entertained is ridiculous beyond belief.
    Chiefs fans, can't speak for them but from what I've seen and heard, are tried of just being good and falling short.
    They want to win the Lombardi. Nothing less.

      Oh my god yes!!! we have been through enough. with Alex Smith we blew a 31 to 10 lead against the colts back in 2013 then this. we were beating the titans 21-3 and just fell apart against a inferior titans team. it's time for a change and see if Mahomes can be the guy.

    • @ozarked2363
      @ozarked2363 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The only way we can win with Mahomes is if Reid changes his play calling. Blowing those leads is as much on Bob Sutton, the defense, and Reid's play calling with the lead, as it is Smith's ability. The defense couldn't cover last year, couldn't stop the run, and couldn't rush the QB without Ford and Houston both in the lineup. Tackling was pitiful all over the field. Playing Mahomes doesn't change any of that.

      @@carloslara891 Alex Smith is not the reason for those loses. Reid's coaching lost those games. That's why the Eagles always came up short when Reid was there.

    Why does every hate on Alex smith? He is an A minus quarterback. The only knock on him is in clutch situations he’s not going to make the throws needed. But other than that he is a really good quarterback

    The Chiefs might regret this move for a year, but Alex’s time would have been up next year. Might as well get something for him before he’s gone and let Mahomes develop.

    • @brandondaniels9471

      Nah, as a city we feel like we're overdue for a Super Bowl run, as Whitlock pointed out. Smith took us to the playoffs every year in spite of all of the injuries we've dealt with, having only a small handful of playmakers, our questionable 2nd half coaching, stupid/untimely penalties, and with our shaky defense. *All of these problems forced Smith to play a very risk averse/safe style of football in order to keep us in games (i.e., he did so up until his final year where he knew he was playing for his job).* Mahomes is only 22 and will have plenty of time to develop into the QB he needs to be for the future. *But, Mahomes will still have to deal with the inherent aforementioned problems I listed.* I'd would've rather given Smith one more shot at getting to the Super Bowl as opposed to "getting something for him" (i.e., Smith has lowkey taken over for Eli/Flacco as the Patriots's Kryptonite). Now we're starting all over again, and Mahomes is still unproven.

      Its so sad that these media guys seem to be "so full of themselves and smugish" that they believe anything they say or feel. They ignore details and make "rulings" about players as IF it is true-cause they believe it. Truth is they are the ones who create THESE "PERCEPTIONS" that become a players "perceived value". They and their assessments are basically MICROWAVE meals. Compared to the best, which is a five star "'chef" getting fine and rare ingredients and cooking each dish perfectly in the oven. Problem is that players have to deal with this perception for their paychecks and livelyhood.
      I mean COACHES have ruined a HUGE number of top round QB's who excelled coming from high school to college (cause college coaches truly understand the players better and don't have the same pressure NFL coaches have which causes them to make impatient careless decisions with QB's. They use passing yards as if it is wins. Whereas the "chef" would understand, that a QB's JOB is to make the right decisions-pass vs handoff vs sack vs run, ONLY as it leads to a WIN!!!! That is the reason a QB along with the coach shares the win loss record and other players do not. If a guy is passing all the time when he should be handing off or if he is checking down when he should go deep at the end of the game and the team loses-Its on the QB. Kirk cousins is that guy and that is why his teams have been average and yet he wears these "passing yard badges" as IF they led to wins. Too many passes can destroy and break down your own defense in the final quarter as they get tired because you aren't running the ball enough.

      That entire 49ers team wasn't the same after the Seahawks beat them in the NFC championship. Lost confidence and Kaepernick let his big contract replace his play. He became a one read and run qb. Then he lost a bunch of weight going into the 2016 season and didn't look like himself anymore. 2 year wonder

      Yup, its strange how a lot of football fans just ignore bad coaching, and blame the player(the sport media too). Andy Reid was in Philly for like 13-14yrs and still could never get over his own faulty play calling. Running the ball is and always has been an important weapon. But with coaches like Reid, in crunch time especially, he will always fall back on what truly is his core philosophy ----throwing it is better than running it.

    • @joebin3286
      @joebin3286 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm sorry but play calling was not the problem in our last two playoff losses. If you actually go back and watch the games you can see that. Plays were set up for success just not given time to develope by the QB with a few dropped passes sprinkled in. Also there were 3 RPO's that were called. Only ran 22 plays in the second half. If you don't pick up 1st downs what do you expect to happen?

    Dang straight! Mahomes will not pan out, I see it as clearly as I saw Krapernick not pan out in SF. Mahomes is a baseball player, his football game is too sloppy and risky, he's just going to get a knee or shoulder blown out in season one

    They made a great choice I think Patrick is the next Tom Brady I mean he did great took them all the way to final playoff game this year he’s killing it.

    Huh! Very misleading title. Vick didn't even talk about Alex Smith heading to Washington. Thumbs down, thanks for nothin.

    I'm so glad that my Redskins got a decent QB finally, the problem in KC was Reed more than Smith, never believed in Cousins, made lots of undeserving money, Redskins known for making people rich. HTTR

    First Andy blame To and Philadelphia got rid of him then he blames Mcnab and Philadelphia got rid of him know At Kc he blames Alex Smith and Kc gets rid of him shouldn't people Realize it Andy fault and even if he had Tom Brady Andy will never take a team past the first Round Alex will be missed

      @joebin3286 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Got rid of Mcnab cause he was old. They made a SB and 3 NFC title games. With Alex they can't even get out of the first round.

    the jets could actually be a surprise with a good qb.. they seemed to have moved on from the circus with ryan so maybe not so bad

    If Alex Smith helps the Redskins make the playoffs this season, then he might raise a lot of eyebrows and change some minds.
    KC Chiefs are in a division where you need lesser talent on your club to win the division. Every AFC West Team has a chance every season.

    I don't think I would have gone after Alex Smith. I don't think it's that much of a drop-off from Cousins. The winner in the trade is KC for getting Kendall Fuller.
    It seems that Andy Reid is capable of success under every hat except head coach. Keep in mind, he spent a lot of years in Philly before the city and the organization had had enough of not winning the big one. Great OC, perhaps a great GM, no jewelery.
    Washington has got to get better in the front office. Bruce Allen is not a winner. He is an egomaniac which is why we lost a football mind; Scott McCloughin, neglected to sign D. Jax, Garcon, or Chris Baker. He even released Ricky Jean Froncois(whom will be playing for the Patriots in S.B. 52) for speaking up about the front office. Give Doug Williams a chance at the helm.

    How is Alex smith completing more deep passes than anyone and him running the ball not fun Colin cowherd is a joke

    What are these guys paid to do? Analyze football. Looking simply at their playoff record is simpleton. This is why I hate Cowherd aka Cowpatty. Im a KC Chiefs fan I like Mahomes but I wish we didn't have to lose A Smith. He was a fantastic quarterback that got blamed for too much and got too little credit
