When I lived there, in hillbrow, it was a real mix of people from all walks of life, and I loved it. It has always been an engine that drives our economy. It amazes me in the informal sector how one has access to resources to quickly set up business. But as a foreigner, you ultimately end up moving to another country to sell to your own countrymen where everything is more costly. Having travelled through many African capitals last in 1995, it's not far off - just needs a little more neglect and we're there sadly.
