Mr. Lionsprings: I sincerely hope you can get back into the video sharing as you have done a great service to the riding community. We happened upon Adventure Rentals in Hill City and he demonstrated the advantages of the Avenza Map system. My wife and I now enjoy riding the Black Hills and haven't been lost yet!👍
Dear "Old Man in the Rocking Chair" Love your videos and they are just what this 62 old, new retiree returning to live in the Hills (Rapid) needs to jump right back into riding my dirt bikes in the hills. I grew up in Hot Springs and rode all around there as a teen until i moved away at 17 for college, career, etc. Now that i am in Rapid, I look forward to riding in the northern hills and the Badlands. Thanks again and give a hug to Angie for me.
Thank you for your videos... We live in the LP of Northern Michigan. Many ORV Routes and Trails here but they are pounded heavy. Mostly deep sand. My wife and I are in our early 70's and just started UTVing in 2019. Purchased a Polaris 900 Trail and love running the trails. The Dakotas are on our bucket list thanks to you! Keep your videos coming please. God Bless!
Would you be so kind to list the trail numbers of these newly opened trails so we can find them on the latest MVUM? If they don't have numbers could you relate where they are in relation to marked trails so we can find them? Thanks so much for you work on this!
Spreading the traffic out, and perhaps in response to having so many trails closed this year due to weather conditions. It's a public resource, if they don't have a _good_ reason for keeping it closed, it shouldn't be.
Agreed! For years now, many of us who live here feel that the USFS treats the national forest as if it is "the king's land". Granted, there are valid reasons for limiting motorized vehicles in some areas. For instance: blocking mud bogging in areas where the activity would impact downstream water quality. But the terms "resource protection" and "habitat preservation" (two USFS favorites) tend to be over-used ... or at least, applied too liberally. On the other hand, to your first point, cramming users into a relatively small number of trails is actually destructive and an unintended consequence of what they've done. We can hope that opening up more trails may be a more enlightened approach to trail degradation caused by over-use of too few trails.
The black hills are one of my favorite places to ride.i really enjoy your videos but doesn't tell where you are, southern, central, northern hills. Where are these newly opened trails. Thanks lion springs. John
This video was made on several different trails, mostly in the central Hills between Keystone and Silver City and west of US385. This area also happens to be where many trails were closed this spring due to heavy rainfall. Given those factors it's hard to recommend any specific newly opened trail numbers which is why in the video I suggest that riders just explore. There's no word on when the closed trails will be reopened, but I suspect that won't be until 2020 because trail restoration may be required and that may involve contract letting if the damage is severe. Sadly, because the damaged trails are closed most riders can't know the extent of the damage.

Thanks, looks familiar on East side of North Pole road and just North of 16. I could be wrong as we moved away in 2017.

What are the numbers of the trails that were reopened?
Looks kinda like roads/trails near North Pole and Pass Creek, Custer Limestone.

Hope you are well. Haven’t heard or seen anything from you in a while.
