  • Today we're talking about warp sett, and I'm showing you how 3 different yarns weave on 3 different warp setts (aka EPI), and how to choose a warp sett that suits the project you want to make!

    This is incredibly helpful and thoughtful! You are making weaving so accessible beyond the basic “here’s plain weave and soumak ok go!” videos that are out there.

    Hi Jenell, hope you're all OK.
    Thanks for showing the different EPI's.
    So useful to see how you can get different results just by warping differently.
    Been looking forward to see what you was going to share tonight.
    I did a couple of sample weaves from the textured rya knots from last week. They turned out pretty good , so now will try them on a larger scale.
    Keep weaving, keep smiling , keep safe and well.
    Lots of love to you and Cody and hugs all round. Jen xxxx

    Omg!!Thanks so much for the video!! I've started over so many times. Keeps looking like basket weave, (the bracelet one at the bottom). Yes!!! i want the single warp look for my quilts!!! Yes, and I don't want to see the warp strings..Now what about color changes in the middle of the row?

    This was so nice to have a visual comparison!
    When you have those odd gaps/groupings like you did in the 4 EPI, could you skip the twining stitch and it would eventually even itself out with a plain weave footer? Or would it kind of screw up the structure of the weaving?

    • @spruceandlinen
      @spruceandlinen  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I definitely think some plain weave could help even it out, but I definitely like twining best for evening things out like this.

  • @xander9564
    @xander9564 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great explanation! One question, though: suppose you wanted to make a longer piece (that goes from top to bottom), could you move the top twining up to the top notches and the bottom twining down to the bottom notches to get a four-selvedge piece?

    • @spruceandlinen
      @spruceandlinen  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you probably could, but I've never tried that personally.

    If a pattern says its 7 ends per inch, how do you adjust your hand loom? This is where Im getting stuck. If I have a 4 ends per inch loom, how do I get 7 ends per inch?

  • @kaitlinsenter1456

    Okay so you mentioned a bracelet but what about maybe a hand towel? Would 10 EPI work best there too?

    • @spruceandlinen
      @spruceandlinen  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This would definitely depend on what yarn/string you're using. Generally with a towel you'd want a balanced weave (same warp strings per inch and weft strings per inch), it also would depend on the pattern you're weaving. You can definitely utilize Google for this before starting a project, just search correct EPI for (insert yarn/string size).
