This is the best way to do model shows on TH-cam IMHO. To many tubers wave their iPhone across the displays and all you see is a blurry mess. Thanks for doing it in this format.
Thanks. I used to use my DSLR which does give better quality photos, but makes it a little harder to take them in the first place, in a crowded environment. Thanks for watching!
Now THIS is show coverage! Ah, to have been there! But your wonderful photos floating on a sound sea of classical music is the next best thing. And what displays! Gorgeous through and through.
Great coverage with excellent photos with some outstanding models/dioramas, lots to see. Also featured x3 of my exhibits. Keep up the great work you do!
@@ModelNerd The first one was of a north African theme diorama, approx 15 seconds in from the beginning. The second was somewhere in France ww1 approx 19seconds in. The final on was a sea scape diorama featuring a Bristol Beaufighter. I suppose I should get some light plaques for them?
Thanks Stu, I've be hearing a lot about this shoe over in the colonies and really appreciate you taking us there. Some incredible creativity and looks like some of you video followers on diorama building , or you had some in the show too ?. It would be difficult to go just for one day, I'd have to stay the whole show. Some of the entries looked like recent releases so they had to build quickly. Congratulations to all those people who entered. I'm still struggling on the Spitifire camo scheme :-) Thanks again for sharing, it is the only one I've seen of this years show. Cheers Bob
Some very Talented people out there. I particularly liked the Dads Army one, plus the Monty Python Black Knight. I do like to see Movie / Tv scenes done very well. keep up the Great work Cheers.
Yes, I was a big fan of the Dad's Army one too. Instantly recognisable but also original. I didn't get a chance to ask him where he sourced the figures. "Stupid Boy!" :)
Ha,I’m literally in the car coming back from Telford, and oh boy,it was an experience that was worth every penny.I ended up picking 4 kits, and my brother also got 4 kits.Tommorow I will also release my own video of all the amazing kits.I hope you too picked something up and will do a little haul video :) Cheers
Glad you enjoyed it - it can be pretty overwhelming with so much going on. Yes, I'll do a quick haul video in the coming week - will look forward to seeing yours too.
I know the feeling! I try to focus on what I think makes these models so good - is it the composition, the weathering, the story, the originality, etc? Then I try to work on that in my models (not necessarily successfully!)
I was watching another video and thinking the same thing. My energy levels were flagging by mid-afternoon and I knew I had a long drive home, so missed a bit of stuff.
I do love a bit of local boy music...oh and the photos and models are great too. Good to see some well put together Remembrance Sunday diorama's too and the "Oh I vow to thee my country" was perfectly timed this morning. Cheers MN.
The standard of work is on another level, amazes me how they come up with great dioramas, from simple to that whole bombed out town, the attention to detail! hard to say which one was my favourite they were all jaw dropping, and the music just took it up a notch, someone correct me, but was it Wagner? As for me, its the second year running now i have missed it, due to working on the weekends.
It's great, isn't it? The bombed out street had so much both in terms of scale and tiny little details (you could look at it for a long time and still see new things). There was a diorama of a tank with a nun standing in front of it (it's in the video) which had a fantastic true story explained on the base. There were also some really well done aircraft in flight, dogfighting and dropping torpedoes. I actually didn't even go into the competition area this year, so hopefully somebody else will do a video on that. The music is Gustav Holst :)
If you visit middle wallop air museum, Wallop Hampshire, home of the army air corp you can see the original Haffner rotobuggy (willys jeep helicopter prototype) at 4:01 They also have a Vietnam war Huey Cobra gunship and a captured Argentinian Huey UH1 D painted white as a medical transport.
Many lovely models there. Getting the right degree of gloss/satin/matt finish seems to be tricky. No criticism of the modellers here - it's something that I often struggle with when it comes to achieving something reasonably realistic.
The Early Departure got me thinking... It's an idea I've had a while. All of these are happening in the day, or rather do not have the light and weather modeled. It'd be an interesting thing to actually model the light too. So if the dio is happening at night, then you'd have very, very dark paints and colours, since it's night. Or depending if it's modern thing, then you might paint it using greens and fluo greens and blacks.
It's an interesting idea - I'm not sure how well it would work but I have seen models done in black and white before and they looked good, so who knows?
@ Would have to use OSL and other miniature painting techniques. Even if not perfect, I'd think it would do well in an exhibit or competition due to the novelty alone.

I agree. If i had to critique, I’d go a bit slower. Thanks
@@johnnyjacik Thanks - I appreciate the feedback
Yes, sends you dizzy.

Thank you mate - I'm glad you liked it.
Great show and good video of a fraction of the exhibits. There is just so much to see there, I see a few things that I had not seen
Glad you enjoyed it. Yes, it's such a busy show.

Thank you! Which models were yours?

@Lee-q7y3d Fantastic looking work there mate! Very impressive. I should do a better job of capturing club or builder names in my photos too.
@@ModelNerd Thank you for the feedback. Keep up the good work yourself, I look forward to see your next video!
Excellent video, thank you so much! Great to know that Dad's Army is alive and well in the British psyche! Cheers.
It certainly is! Glad you enjoyed the video - thanks for watching.
Totally agree with comments,This is how you do it,nice one 😉👍
Thank you mate - much appreciated
"That's the way to do it!" Perfect soundtrack too.
Thank you :)

Totally agree - some excellent, and very recent, builds. I didn't enter anything myself but really drew inspiration from the displays.
Some great work on display. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you Steve
Concur with other comments, top notch video and thanks for putting it together for those of us unable to attend.
Thank you
Thank you for this marvellous travel through scale modelling world!!😊
You're welcome - thanks for watching!
All very impressive projects. I was tempted to go this year but didn't in the end, so I'm glad I could see what you've captured.
I hope it gave something of an idea of what it was like. To be honest, it was very, very crowded there this year.

Quite the talent intensive video. 👍👍👏👏
Definitely!
Really cool model show. 👍
It was!
Inspirational but demoralizing at the same time. Makes my efforts look even more amateur. Great pics.

Bonitos modelos e dioramas. 👍
Yes, so many! A great inspiration!
Great pictures. You’ve got quite a lot there that I missed. Maybe I should do both days next year?

Thank you my friend. There certainly was some excellent work on display.
Sadly couldn't go this year hurt my left knee badly a few weeks ago but on the mend now .But your video is Brilliant
Sorry to hear that. Hopefully the video gave you a small taste of the show.
@ModelNerd it did thank you 😊

Thank you - I will add it to my Google Maps so I can remember the next time I'm in the area.
fantastic photos i realy liked the Pegasus Bridge diorama fabulous well done to the builder.
Thank you. Yes, there were some very good D-Day dioramas on various tables. Great stuff.
Nice video Stu, thanks for posting. Did you get any good stuff?!
Thank you mate. I got a couple of things - I'll do a video later in the week on those :)
@ModelNerd nice one 👍 look forward to it. Take care 👊
