Picked one of these up a few nights ago and the guy said he was using a screwdriver to get it going as it won’t start but once moving it’ll run all day it’s only on start up. Popped off the cover and the resistor is well blown new one on order. Cheers.

Do all the numbers on the new capacitor match up? Are the fault symptoms exactly the same? The start up capacitor just kicks the motor into life. If it’s faulty the motor will just hum. Can you turn the motor without power?
@@morgannick2000 Only difference in capacitor says 85 on old where as new one says 70 same as yours. If turn drum (motor) and press power button works fines just have to leave it running until finish job. Motor is quiet and smooth running and seems ok
That suggests the new cap is either bust or there is a wiring issue. The three figures 25/70/21 is for environmental factors. The capacitance 25uF and the voltage are the most critical.
Managed to sort with liberal spraying of motor with switch cleaner, came out grey so obvious build up of cement dust over the years, also cleaned all bearings and made sure free moving. 9/10 times starts normally odd time needs a slight pull on drum to start it but then runs fine, may just need a little more cleaning.
stephenclarke179 glad you’ve made some progress. Just out of interest. Was the original capacitor blown and did it have a hole in the side like the one in the video?
check your capacitor first before taking this guy's advice. I have the same mixer and the specs on my capacitor are completely different from what he is giving.

Hi mate, on my mixer I bought second hand I put oil in as was empty but it still turns off as if it over heads after about a hour use.
