    I bought a new CVA Optima V2 50 cal LR nitride rifle. Only bullets the store had was powerbelts. I can say i left without any bullets. Went down to another shop.They had Hornady 250gr sst bullets. I bought 2 boxes. I am glad i did. I use blackhorn powder. I shot mine last week. 3 shots grouped a 1/2 inch at 100. Using a 250gr sst and 84 grs of blackhorn by weight. If u want to get the best of accuracy out of your gun. Shoot loose powder.

      I've got the Accura V2 LR in .50 cal and I love it! How's the Optima LR shoot? I'm thinking about getting my son a Optima LR or the Wolf for his 1st muzzleloader.

      @@jimd3323 i shot a 3 shot 1/2 group at 100 yds. Best shooting muzzle loader. I have owned so far. I have a Remington 700 50 cal. And i had a knight rifle too. I like hunting with a muzzleloader. I carried it during modern gun season too. I killed 4 deer this season with it. I have been looking at a Accura LR x 45 cal. May just go with a 50 cal. I have all kinds of 50 cal bullets.

    The maxi balls will work very well out of your forearm with 150 grains of powder pushing it up to around 15-200 yards I have used them before also they make if you can find them a mini maxi ball that shoots very nice with 100 grains of powder pushing them also out of the same fire arm both are pure lead rounds the mini maxi ball is a skirted round that will act similar to the power belts with the way that they gas seal but that is all the skirt is a part of the round and not an add on that falls off so it gives better accuracy down range also better nock down power. If you can find them give them a try I think you will be very pleased with them hem.

    I have developed a new cartridge for muzzleloading rifles which is loaded from the muzzle but ejects itself from the barrel after use and is non-corrosive. This product sets a new standard in safety and reliability for muzzleloader ammunition in the same way shotgun shells are standardized for use in shotguns. Shotshells have a load of shot and powder which produce a safe pressure in shotguns manufactured by many different companies. The pressure produced by this cartridge can be designed to work safely in the muzzleloaders produced by the various manufacturers. It would also greatly help new muzzleloader shooters with safety, and it would also give them a product which will not destroy the barrel of their muzzleloader due to corrosive residue.

    Those who say smokeless powder cannot be used in a muzzleloader may not know “Blackhorn 209” is 83% smokeless powder, based on the MSD sheet for the product. Therefore, the claim that smokeless powder cannot be used safely in a muzzleloader falls apart very quickly.
    This cartridge could also be loaded with BH209 or a similar formulation in states which do not allow "smokeless" powder during muzzleloader season, in the same way the breechloading "Firestick" cartridge is now used in the "Nitrofire" muzzleloader. This would be a "Muzzlestick" cartridge which would work in thousands of other modern muzzleloaders, which cannot use the "Firestick" cartridge.
    This cartridge can also be removed from inline muzzleloaders by removing the breechplug.
    I am now looking for a company willing to mass produce this new cartridge for the market. I would greatly appreciate it if you would pass this information along to those you know who may be interested in this new product.

    A link is found below which demonstrates this new product.

    Paradox? Never heard of that. Are you trying to say Pyrodex? I do agree with you that those Federal Burlock solid copper bullets are the best out of what you've got there, but I've not seen any for sale anywhere for nearly two years now. I don't know whether they stopped making them or what the deal is with that. And no, the power belts are not some kind of an alloy. They are pure lead with a very thin copper plating on them. I think they would work a little better if they were actually a harder alloy and a bit harder.

    Those powerbelt bullets are pure lead with a thin copper plating on them. All of them. All of the problems I see with people using powerbelts are them being too soft. Expand too much to quick. Why they don't make a solid I don't know but they seem to all be hollow points or tipped hollow points, same thing. They are accurate enough but lots of people complain about penetration with them. If you're planning on shooting a deer, the Federals you have there are the way to go. They are solid copper and expand beautifully.

    Ok CVA does do a decent product, as far as a comparison CVA Buck horn Magnum or Wolf both shoot well, Both are Entry Level both great for hunting. Difference is Wolf is "Easier" to clean. Buck Horn anywhere from $100 to $150 cheaper, plus no failing welds at break open area. CVA for the money and reliability of the true in-line in my opinion should have kept a manufacture on them. The Wolf $194 starting price sometimes $130ish "On Sale" My buck Horn off the shelf $199 it had rounds, black powder, scope, sights cleaner,patches, sling The Wolf is bare bones at $194 add $150 more powder, bullets, sling, scope OR sights buck horn had both. If you prefer to bypass BSA scope add another $150-$300 for a decent scope and there ya have a $550 entry level Where the Buck Horn was $200 even if one stepped up on scope we are at $350 with the better grade scope.

    • @Hill_Billy_Without_A_Hill
      @Hill_Billy_Without_A_Hill 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Try Hornady Pennsylvania conicals, model #6617 usually 15$-20$ per 50. Probably one of your best options, unless you find a patch and roundball work well. Ive used them in inlines, and they do decent in my experience.

    • @ditchdigger93
      @ditchdigger93 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Hill_Billy_Without_A_Hill I haven't tried them in mine personally, but the consensus is that round balls usually don't shoot well out of a modern inline because of the faster rifling twist rate. Usually one in twenty eight where a round ball gun is usually one in 66 or so. Won't cost you much to find out though, go for it.

  • @Hill_Billy_Without_A_Hill

    You hit a deer with a Hornady XTP in the shoulder, and your deer wont go far. With the Traditions Nitrofire being very proprietary in the powder charging system/premade charges and places being able to keep them supplied, with how things are, I'd pass on that one.

      Powerbelts do suck. Federal premium works amazing. I dropped a big buck at 100 yards and a big doe at 130 yards, both through the head. Also I used a CVA Wolf with 100 grains of 777 FFFG powder. (100 grains FFFG is comparable to about 125-135 grains of FFG or 150 grains of pellets) FFFG powder is more powerful and always goes off better than pellets.
