My wonderful wife just bought this very gun. White camouflage. I can’t wait to set it up and zero it in. Using this very video will make it so much better. I want to thank you so much for this wonderful video.

Outstanding, CVA ought to hire you. I have watched every CVA video, your intro tutorial & camera work tops what they have put together. I bought an Accura this year. Excellent work. 👍

The Wal Mart in my area is famous for putting left over sporting goods on sale after hunting season. Last year a friend of mine was out there shopping and I noticed the gun department had a WOLF CVA on sale to get rid of it for 100 dollars. I told my friend and he ran back and purchased it. The clerk told him they had one more in the back. He purchased that one for his brother. Both GUNS had scopes and were black stocks. They both shoot great what a great deal he got. I always watch for deals after hunting season. Keep your eyes open and have a great day.

I have developed an insane itch to get a muzzleloader, and this video really helped finalize the decision to go with a CVA Wolf! Thanks for the great info!

I picked up a CVA Optima 50 cal a couple years and I love it. In 2 years hunting with it, 2 shots equaled 2 deer.
    Be safe and happy hunting...

I have owned a CVA Wolf .50 cal for 5 years now. I have harvested 4 deer with it and have been impressed with the accuracy and reliability of the Wolf. Konus makes a good scope which will serve you well. In fact, I have three other rifles topped with the same brand of scope and no problems to date. One caveat about the CVA Wolf that has cropped up is the small spring steel clip under the fore end of the rifle. This clip receives the large screw and holds the fore end secure. While cleaning the rifle after use, the clip flew off of the barrel and has been an issue ever since. Perhaps it should have been tig welded to the barrel instead of just clipped in place. I did use electrical tape and it has not came off again but still a possible issue to be watching for unless the design has changed with recent models!

I have the previous generation of the Wolf. It's a great no-frills gun for the money. I can't see spending more when you only use a couple of days out of the year. The "palm saver" must be a new addition as mine did not come with one and I will sometimes use the nearest stout tree for assistance :) Happy hunting!

I picked up the CVA Hunter in .44 Mag. It's a shooter for being an relatively inexpensive rifle! Took a button buck last Tuesday of Ohio gun season. He didnt know what hit him.

Picked up the same package(mine is black stock and matte silver barrel) last year at Dunhams on sale for $220. Its a tack driver at 100 yards, 3 shots in a one inch group.

I have the Wolf with the Black stock. I learned to remove the palm saver if you're shooting with ramrod in its place. Somehow, we managed to slide the rod forward and it turned just enough that we shot the palm saver...LOL Killed 3 with it this year. Good little gun

I’m no expert , But I would take a shot before I moved anything. I think you should too sometime.
You might be surprised. I sure was once. And happens to be my muzzle loader too.
I bought the 45 cal Accura LR. New and in the box and needed a scope. I looked around an didn’t see anything I wanted. I remembered I got a few scope for past years , so I took a look. I found one from 20-30 years ago still in the package. Aim point 4-16 power. So I put it on the gun. Little big , but went with it. Then too sight it in.
First shot one inch from the bulls eye. Second shot half inch closer , but bot right. Let my buddy shoot two shots and he was the same to the left. We didn’t have resting bags on a bench. All free hand. So I’ve tried different distance and to find out , it hits the same place half the time. A couple days ago I had too pee so I leaned the gun on a tree. The wind was blowing like crazy an the I heard the gun fall on the moss covered rocks. So I took it to the pit to check the scopes accuracy. Still windy like 30 mph customer at 20 degrees , I wanted to get this done quickly. LSH ,three shots in a two in triangle group one inch bottom left of bullseye. At 150 yards. Leaning over the front of the pickup. I’ve never adjusted the scope for nothing. I’ve taken all the perimeters in consideration that is on until I get a bag on the hood in the pit without winds.

I generally always use medium strength loctite (Not Hi Strength) on my scope mounts and rings. Paricularly if I am using a variable power scope. Just personal preference.

BLUE LOCTITE ONLY BASE ONLY NOT THE RINGS OR ANYTHING ELSE. CALL VORTEX AND ASK THEM! USING THE CORRECT TORQUE IS MOST IMPORTANT.

Get rid of stock breach plug and get one for black powder. I switched over a couple years ago and will never go back. Dry patch will clean the barrel. Burns so much cleaner. The glue on pellets is the dirtiest part. Got two CVA and love them both. Had a traditions first and hated it. Gave it away I couldn't bring myself into selling it. Would not shoot straight for nothing.

great video !!! next time you shoot please don't rest the barrel on the front bag rest the forend on the bag. Resting the barrel changes the harmonics which will change point of impact from shot to shot. watch any videos from Jeff Hankins , he builds custom rifles and muzzle loaders he never rests his barrel on the front bag only the forend

    • @KnettersPracticalOutdoors
      @KnettersPracticalOutdoors  3 ปีที่แล้ว

Yes, I have heard that before and I do believe you are right. I was told this by a friend that does a good amount of long range shooting. His take on it was, if you rest the barrel on a solid rest you will definitely shoot different. If you rest the barrel on a soft rest, you may shoot different, but at 60 to 100 yards it is almost unnoticeable. I haven't tried both to know and I will definitely watch the videos you mentioned. Thanks for adding in, KPO.

Use the anti seize that comes with it looks like a ChapStick container but bigger because grease will not work it gets too hot for Grease anti seize works and it comes with your rifle if it didn't you can buy it it's real cheap

You shouldn't rest the barrel on the front rest when zeroing your rifle. This will cause your point of impact to be high. If you zero to this point, then when you take a shot holding it by the forearm, your shot will be low. Always rest the rifle on the forearm when zeroing your scope. (Just meant to be helpful advice and not harsh criticism). Your video is very good, though. I enjoyed it.

Yes you are right. I was told that with a soft rest at short distance (me at 60-80 yards) that it is almost unnoticeable. But I don't know for sure. Thanks for adding in. I just did another CVA muzzleloader vid and I made sure to rest on the forearm. Thanks again, KPO.
