And another thing every time I get curious about something about guns or whatever and I go to look it up on TH-cam I enjoy the fact that your videos pop up first or second 👍👍
CVA has a barrel blaster patch you can use after cleaning. I wipe the outside down with them after I run a few down the barrel. Keeps the rust away. Great video. Good shooting!
I’ve got one of these and I’ve never been disappointed with it. Cheap, lightweight, and accurate. I’ve taken plenty of deer with it and I save a doe tag for muzzleloader season because I love to shoot it.
I wasn't much for black powder rifles until I shot one, BUT NOW I LOVE THE HECK OUT OF THEM , I'm still learning on ranges and powder loads, I'm very impressed on the amount of ballistic info on the suggested loads for each and every style of bullet that used in the WOLF. IVE YET TO PULL THE TRIGGER ON GAME ANIMALS, LOVE LONG RANGE SHOTS AND WHATS AMAZES ME IS THE DELIVERY REPORT . KERR WHOPP.
Same here. Never paid the any attention. Then i was gifted a remington 700ML stainless this late fall. Was able to get out and test it a couple times before winter set in. Can't wait until spring, to really get some play time in with it. Converted it over to 209 primers in the meantime. Will likely be shooting loose powder, as the pellets are impossible to find, for me. 3 boxes of powder pellets came with the gun, but they have store stickers on them from 2000. They did fire, when i was testing the gun, but definitely not dependable/reliable, i'd say.
CVA is a good one. My son has a wolf and I think he uses two 50 grain IMR white hots with a 250 grain CVA Aerolite. 1 inch groups a 100 with a good cleaning in between shots when sighting in.
Great video my brother, I just picked up a used CVA Optima a couple of days ago for cheap and love it, got 2 early muzzleloader days coming up this month 16th-17th in Kentucky here
I have a wolf in stainless, can't beat it for the money.. I use 2 pellets of 777, with a 44 CAL 300gr Hornady XTP. It can outshoot me and my aging eyes.. Thank God for Leupold !
I have hunted with a Wolf for years. Mine is nickle coated with Realtree Advantage camouflage stocks. I have used a scope on it, but now I just use the factory fiber optic sights it came with. Well worth the money!
I just got into muzzle loader hunting a few years ago. My cousin gave me his TC Omega to use as he never used it... Wow! So much fun shooting those things. You haven’t lived until you shoot a muzzle loader! Something cool about it. Maybe it’s the big cloud of smoke after each shot? Great video!
I have had a CVA Wolf for 3 years. I really like it. I use 250 gr. Hornady SST’s. I get good 100 yd groups with two 50 gr. pellets. I tried sighting it in with three 50 gr. pellets. Besides kicking like a full-grown mule, they would not group well. I took a nice doe with it two seasons ago at 80 yds.
I bought a budget knight over 30 years ago and it shoots ragged one hole groups using 325 power belts and 2 pellets. I love the inline stuff. This looks like a real good shooter.
I've had a Traditions Nitrofire for over a year and a half and finally got it out to the range because a buddy traded me 100 primers for some empty cases for his reloading
Man Thanks for making this video. I was thinking of getting 2 of them cva Wolf. Because we are in the same situation as you are. We have public land you can only use a bow or slug or a muzzleloader. And I am thinking that the muzzleloader is going to be the most accurate choice and I bet at 200 yards you can hit pretty well with the muzzleloader.
Excellent video but California is hard to find powders and primers so I’m still on CVA Scout V2 take down. I have both 450 bushmaster and 350 legend, excellent group for 150 yards
Make sure you put some grease on the threads of the breach plug. I loved my wolf but ended up with the plug stuck and not able to clean it. 2 pyrodex pellets behind powerbelt green tips took 6 or 7 deer with mine. 3 pellets just seem to kick more with little gain in performance. GOOD LUCK THIS SEASON!
I have been eyeing a muzzleloader for the past few years as my friend in Ward, Colorado who is a historian and mountain man has several legit muzzleloaders. I first acquired a CVA old school muzzleloader, then the other day came across a CVA Wolf and couldn't pass it up. I really liked your split screen shot. Great to see the change you made and the results. I am considering 777 or Trailboss. Not sure which but excited to try Thanks for the video.
Personally I never wanted to shoot black powder, too slow and too dirty. All of ya'll out there thank you for going into the woods for whitetail hunting, we need your kind of hunting. Whoteewho, just wondering why you haven't been on Heavy Metal range, miss you shooting with Paul. Thanks again for your videos.
When seating the projectile you should push down on the rod with 40.lbs of steady pressure. That way the powder bullet is firmly seated with no air gap. If you don’t know what 40lbs of pressure is practice pushing down with rod on bathroom scales. Good hunting.
Have to say man every time I am looking for a great review on a firearm, well plain and simple, I look for your channel. Great reviews and info as well as shooting and honest results. Well done man well done indeed.
WOw, that's a great shooting combo!! I bought a 50 cal Thompson Hawken 45 years ago, and searched for ticking and balls for months before getting it to hit an X at 50 yards. It liked what it liked though, and shot true forever after that.
I've recently have gotten into reloading and muzzle loading, the first time I tried reloading I got more powder on me than in the buuuulots. I got in to black powder because of the sawed off shotgun called the Diablo and now I'm hooked. Sincerely Ruger Rich
I really love my TC Hawken. I got it in 1973 and have taken many deer with it. I still use black powder and round ball. Also have shot some deer at ~100 yards. Don't under estimate your rifle the range will surprise you.

I bought one of these a few years ago. I liked it so much that I bought another for spare parts. I shoot Hornady .452 300gr. XTP bullets with 50 cal sabots over 100 grains of Triple 7 powder. 2-3 MOA 3 round groups seem standard.
If I might make a suggestion , if you get the chance pick up some Barnes Expanders 250 grain . Absolutely the deer killingest muzzleloader bullet on the planet ! I shoot them in my Wolfe with 2 triple seven pellets .
Muzzle loader are great 👍🏼 in my state during muzzle loader season can only be traditional so no scope but during rifle season if u choose to use a muzzle loader u can then mount a scope 🤷🏻
really nice gun WTW...i bought one of the same in the combo pack...i use the powerbelt in 235 grs. [i think] over two 50 gr.pyrodex..1 in. groups at 100...i've took three whitetails with it
I've seen those 50 cal ELRs on the shelves at my LGS and wasn't sure how u went about loading them with such a long point. Does it require a special ramrod tip to accommodate the bullet tip so to not bend or mess up the bullet as u load it?
I'd enjoy seeing more bullet/group test comparisons with the ol' smokepole. I haven’t done as much testing on my own set up as I would like, since it takes a fair amount of range time to do with all the cleaning involved. Hope you get back to the private range and paper plate set up soon! 👍🏼
Love the video as always. Can you make that video I suggested on World War II rifle calibers and testing them against bricks or jugs? You could do 8 mm Mauser, 762.54R, 303 British, and 30 06
Good shooting setup. I'm still shooting my old T/C Omega and still accurate. Tip for range and hunting I always have a few pre-soaked patches to run couple down barrel followed by dry patch or two. Cleans powder and plastic good enough to make it easy to load and accurate. Like the accuracy and performance of the Power Belt Bullets over 2 50gr pellets and a 30gr pellet
Slip 2000 carbon killer to clean the barrel. Works great! Also, i'd shoot it at 100 yards to see how much drop you have with a 50 yard zero just in case something steps out a bit farther than anticipated.
Hands down who dee whoo is the best shooter and gun guy on here he knows his stuff and his guns and ammo I love all your videos brother I been learning allot lately
Never had or shot a black powder rifle. But i bought one a month ago and recently took it out and shot it. Man I wish i bought one a long time ago. I got the cva wolf starter kit with fiber optic sights. And I use the white hots pellets for it. Thing is a blast to shoot. We can use scopes on them but can only have a fixed 1 power during muzzleloader season. But we can use any other scope if we use it during regular rifle season.
I see the back end of the scope a grip ring. Does this have zoom capability? I was impressed how quickly the rifle sighted in. Your gonna have good hunting with this CVA. Thanks for posting, 👍
I got the SS Wolf with the 9/14 scope. Using 150 gr White Hots, 1st shot was 6” to the left of center out of the box. White Hots and Barrel Blaster will spoil the hell out of you, it’s the way to go 🤘😎👍
John Gilley - I agree wholeheartedly!! I use 2 white hots pellets and a Hornady XTP sabot 240 grain and I’m hitting consistently at 50 yards … half inch groups!! Can’t get much better !! But I do want to try the Hornady Boredrivers 290 grain !! A friend uses the and he said he is stacking groups less than a half in at 50 yards and out to 100 yards !! Just want to see for myself …… for kicks and giggles!! Enjoy your up coming season !!

Talking about filthy, I'm guessing you've shot with real black powder before... UGG what a corrosive mess!!! I need to fix up my Kentucky Long Rifle (45 patched ball) that I built from a kit some 40 years ago. Got that as a present from my parents, and it was a riot to shoot that little cannon! My dad built a Colt Navy revolver that same year, both were the old CVA company.
I have the same rifle, but have never shot it. This motivates me to get out there. I don't have a scope for it, but hopefully at Arkansas deer distances the factory sights will do. Man great shooting Who_Tee_Who.
I love cva muzzleloaders and the best budget friendly muzzleloader for the price and for someone looking for a muzzleloader and for someone getting into muzzleloaders for the first time
When I bought my first inline about six months ago. A Used CVA Hunterbolt Magnum, I bought some Powerbelt ELR's exactly like you were shooting there. 325 grains. Now all I see and can find anywhere are 330 grains. It's no big deal at all, 5 grains difference and that is what makes me wonder WHY they would up the grain weight by 5 grains? If anybody has any idea why they would drop one bullet for one only 5 five grains heavier I'd really like to know. I'm up to four inlines now and they all shoot this bullet, And many others, well. The accuracy king in my rifles is the Hornaday SST in 250 grains. I've got some in 300 grains and hear they shoot even better, but I haven't shot any of the 300's yet and I don't see how they could be any more accurate than the 250's. It's hard to argue with busting gallon water jugs at 250-300 yards.
The Powerbelt ELR in 350 and 325 shoot best out of my Vortex long range muzzleloader. 135 yards on a big bodied buck and dropped him with 100 grain charge
If you can find the Starfire Tripple 7 pellets in your area, I'd suggest giving them a try. They are a little hotter than the regular Tripple 7 pellets and only 33 grains, so it takes three instead of two. I've shot four of them as both of my guns are Magnums but get that thumb over the wrist of that rifle if you do, (as you should anyway), they know what recoil is. You will too after shooting four of them. Laying that thumb along the side of that rifle is a damn good way to get a severe case of scope eye. I've seen guys cut themselves a new eyebrow doing that. Oh, those Powerbelt ELR'S are a fine bullet as far as accuracy, I haven't shot a critter with them yet but I'm guessing they'll make a big hole in one. I have shot them out to 300 yards though and I can tell you they're accurate, out of my smoke poles anyway.
I just ordered an Optima to get an early start on deer season while the rut is still going on! However, how do you manage noise, such as the practice of flicking your ramrod down 3X after seating, to see if you get the "ting" sound and the bounce from a properly-seated bullet? Is that a luxury just for the firing range? Can an experienced muzzleloader manage the series of steps in the complete dark, by feel, such as by using tubes that contain pellets + bullet? Would anyone admit to loading pellets and bullet at the vehicle, hiking to stand/blind, then priming as a final step once seated etc? Is it usually an issue to prime in the dark (before dawn/twilight?)
And another thing every time I get curious about something about guns or whatever and I go to look it up on TH-cam I enjoy the fact that your videos pop up first or second 👍👍
I'm working hard at it! Always appreciate you watching!!!

Love black powder too!! It's on another skill level of fun just like bow season. Plus both extends my deer hunting season 😀 .

You lucky son of a gun..... you spun that top dial like the wheel on Price is Right and somehow got the elevation perfect
Hot soapy water for a good cleaning & patch with Bore Butter after its dried helps CVA has stepped it up in last few years. Own 2 that are accurate
Using hot soapy 🧼water and all that was in the past they got stuff that cleans muzzleloader way faster using the old method takes along time
Cva wolf can rust becarful using water on the inside of this rifles barrel
This is one of the most accurate rifles that I've ever shot...for 3 shots. Clean it & the accuracy returns!🎯
CVA is a good one. My son has a wolf and I think he uses two 50 grain IMR white hots with a 250 grain CVA Aerolite. 1 inch groups a 100 with a good cleaning in between shots when sighting in.

There are no videos of the new ELR bullets in gel. Fling some of those boo-lots at some gel or jugs and see if they will expand on some deers.

The Powerbelt ELR in 350 and 325 shoot best out of my Vortex long range muzzleloader. 135 yards on a big bodied buck and dropped him with 100 grain charge
Getting up there in the subs before you know it you'll hit 1 million
I'm sure trying
If you want cleanest burning powder Blackhorn 209.
I like the gun. Bummer I can’t use these style in my state of Washington State since the primer is not exposed to the weather.
Great. Now try to find black powder after Hodgdon stopped making it.
I only found 1 store in the US with blackhorn 209 in stock, its a Sportsmans in CA. They don't ship. I ordered some triple 7 from my local Cabelas.
We have one gun shop here that had 42 pounds of imr 4350 and a ton of hodgdon powder
Both are almost re blued and looking brand new plan on selling one getting my money back and keeping one
I'll have my lyman deerstalker in my hand in 2 weeks when early muzzleloader starts.
👍👍💨💨💨
Always load before you walk in. Up to you if u want to put the primer in when u get out of your vehicle or when you get to your spot
Looking for a new smoke pole after my old cva optima breech plug locked up will be buying this tomorrow.
Did you dial the scope cross hairs down to where the first shot hit? Then shot 2nd and 3rd time?
I missed. Daughter's wedding family stuff. Wiil watch Sunday
Scorpion PT gold sabot's in 250 and 300 grain are a good bullet too and easy to load, awesome performance on deer
How many water jugs will a 325 grain elr go through. Need to catch that bullet. I bet its cool looking.
have one, nasty accurate, completely affordable, you can’t go wrong
Just bought one this weekend.
Would the 330 grain version shoot the same because I just got the wolf but can’t find the 325 grains only the 330
Have to test it
Your love muzzleloading, when things ease up some try triple 7 pellets their cleaner and no stink. Good luck and film it if you can sometime.
Absolutely love my cva wolf, 90 grains blk horn 250 grain hornadys, its shoots with rifles at 100yds
I have a CVA eclipse and love it. Can take deer at 200 yards easy. Great gun for the money.
Good ole Ok Corral shooting range. I love that place
Muzzle loader vs. Clay blocks would be interesting.
Good idea
I thought it was.😀😀😀
Good Shooting. Nothing better than a muzzle loader. Taking quite a few deer with them over the years.
