Why is something recorded at the edge of our solar system with a telescope more likely to be alien than something recorded (with better instruments) in our own skies?? What he ended on " people trying to prove they are smart" made me think of Neil deGrasse Tyson. Feels like he's always trying to flex that he knows more than whoever he's talk to.
Although I agree with him 100% , he's kinda doing the same thing by trying to promote his theory as the one that should be focused on. That whole Sherlock shit was just a pivot for him to try to seem more human when in reality he's not doing many more things differently than other establishment scientists. Disclaimer: this is entirely based on a couple of clips I saw of him on the show, I don't follow his work and am ignorant of his methodology/studies etc. but his claims seem too far fetched to be taken seriously. He did nothing when trying to explain his position to dispel my thought that he is promoting his pet theory. Just my opinion I guess, its probably wrong but he didnt do a good job of promoting himself. In the end what I think he was trying to do is this "If other establishment scientists can do this and call it rational, then with some clever mathematical/theoretical tinkering I can do the same thing, as it is my right as an intellectual in the establishment community."
