This is so helpful! I feel ready to go! One question - do huts have electricity (for phone/power bank charging) or should I bring my mini solar charger? thanks!

Most of them do, but this can vary from hut to hut. And at the huts that keep the power running all day, sometimes it can be tricky to find an available outlet. I usually assume I'll be able to charge every other day.

Water is safe if you are higher than the cows, direct glacier water is ok, but no salts in IT. So compensate! Water from power streams... Filter with Sawyer , can be coupled with platypus. Greetings from Holland!

Yes, as long as you are certain you are above the cows and other livestock, it can be okay to drink the glacier water. Thanks Gert!

Yes, sorry about that. We do have a recording of our one hour webcast on Packing for a Hut Hiking Tour. You can access it via www.alpenventuresUNGUIDED.com/webcasts. It does require a site membership to access, but that is free and instant to set up.

I've looked at the food at the huts and it looks super unhealthy. I'm a vegan. Are there healthy options available? Thank you.

All huts offer vegetarian options. It is usually possible to get vegan dishes as well, but I have had a hut refuse to accommodate a vegan diet before (keep in mind that many huts have very limited supplies due to their isolated location, and also usually very short staff resources). It is best to let the huts know at the time of booking that you are vegan. However, the vegans I have spoken with along the trail find the food selection quite boring from hut to hut, so I would recommend bringing a few of your own meals as well to mix things up.
