  • At this point we have learned the 3 major Chords in the key of C - C, F, and G(G7) and this song gives us more opportunity to play those 3 chords but slightly more challenging with only 2 beats on G7 and F, as we move between chords more quickly. A slow learning tempo is a good one as you work all components of good technique to allow your brain to understand what you want it to do for you. Thank you brain! Adding vocals and more than a steady down strum is optional, I demo a bit of that here. As a beginner its an option to "La La" the vocal line until you have learned the chords because you are making sounds with your voice building up to singing the actual lyrics but not trying to read words on top of everything else. Go slow, learn fast. Chart below.

Thank for this video. You're the only person who has said this song is in 4/4 time and explained how many beats each chord has

You are very welcome. It can be confusing of course for new players to understand the beats per chord and they often are not shown on many song charts. It helps with this to play songs you know and use your ear (most people have been listening to music all their lives and know more than they realize as such to what is right musically) to listen to the melody when singing, as melody must fit in with the chords or it sounds off. The melody notes must fit the chord being played or it sounds discordant, which most people can hear. Learning to count the bars is a great way to add to skills. I will do a video on this subject!
