There are more techinically 'perfect' versions, but this one has the feels with three great musicians and friend - and Willie is recognizing time with Ray is short.
Willie and Ray were very dear friends. Willie was one of the only people who knew how ill Ray was at the time.
For me, "I know your image of me is what I hope to be" is one of the most beautiful lyrics ever.
These three were with me my whole life. RIP Leon and Ray. Thankfully we still have Willie.
When music was music by real musicians
Thank you so much for doing this one, Harri. It's my understanding that this was one of Ray's very last performances. RIP Ray and Leon.
Thank you Anne ❤️💖🥰😇🙏
@@agnetesorensenelbom5085 I'm happy to share this one, which is a big favorite of mine.
Willie’s look was Reverence. Also Willie was trying not to cry, and I’m right there with him.
Ain’t nobody got more soul than Ray Charles. And that look on Willie’s face is sheer admiration.
Remember when we were together….Leon will forever be The Master of Space and Time. He brought so many people together. Can you imagine someone writing a song like this for you? Then other artists sing it, and more people feel that love.
Couldn't hold back the tears on this one. Pure wonderment of irreplaceable musical history. Thank you.
They bring Willie to tears. Beautiful rendition. Ray was near the end.
Willie's look was awe, respect, love and admiration. Very touching.
Ray was born in 1930 Willie 1933 Leon 1942.
Ray passed in 2004, Leon in 2016. (Same age?)
That's as good as it gets.
What a great collaboration. Leon, Ray and Willie! It doesn’t get any better than this! I love this song and so many others written by Leon Russell, who is rather under appreciated for his songwriting (in my humble opinion). Fantastic choice and reaction. Thanks Harri and Anne 🌺✌️
I agree…he was always underrated as a songwriter. I never understood why because he’s written so many great songs.
Leon was a brilliant songwriter musician and producer. ❤
You hit a homerun with this Harri.
I am crying tears of respect and admiration. ❤😢
I have all of Ray Charles' albums and still get the same feelings listening to them now as I did years ago. When I was in college, I played "Georgia On MY Mind" until I had memorized every note & every breath of the recording. I bought the LP but having limited funds at the time, I felt guilty spending the money for the album and returned it to the record shop. After I finished college and started teaching, I bought the album again. I have Ray's early recordings as well as his later ones. Jamie Fox gave a brilliant performance in the movie. It brought me to tears. And when the song was chosen as Georgia's state song, I was so happy for Ray.
So beautiful times three. Oh my
Willie is staring at Ray like nobody would if he were sighted. It's pure love and respect knowing Ray was living his last days.
Thank goodness there was no auto-tune.
That was a look of love and heartbreak and the devastation of knowing that his friend was not to be with him much longer. It breaks my heart again every time I watch this.
Thats American Royalty right there, those 3. I was blessed to see them all live and yes it was magical, like a religious experience.
Ah yes, golden !!!!
Willie and Ray were good and long-time friends. Willie said that Ray did as much as anyone ever did for country music. I would guess that he is looking at him here with great affection knowing he wouldn't have his friend around for a whole lot longer.
To me personally, this will always be Leon Russell's song. I have heard many covers that sounded good, but I am a fellow Oklahoman like Leon Russell and grew up listening to his music, whether it was songs that he sang himself or songs he wrote for others. His very last album On A Distant Shore is a very sad but beautiful work.
I was at a restaurant in New Orleans and Leon was rating diiner..sfter he finished he got up and went over to an old piano and played and sang for a long time..a favorite great memory
Just wonderful and fantastic!! All talent 💫♥️💎💔💎
So happy someone reacted to this. The way Willie is just in awe of Ray is really heart warming and makes me tear up a little.
This is a fantastic collection of people making some great music. Thank you Anne and Harri.
Oh the talent that was on that stage! I wish I could've been there but am glad I got to see it here! Thank you so much for this beautiful reaction!
Oh, so proud of Leon. He was from here in Tulsa. He always called it home and hosted an annual New Year Eve's show here. He is buried here also. It must have been something to have been there that evening.
Anne - This was a beautiful and endearing submission. Music is a better experience, in part, due to these true greats! Bravo Anne and Harri.
This is my second favorite song of all time.❤
The first, coincidentally, also has "song" in the title: Your song, by Elton John.
This is the holy Trinity. And that's all I can say.
A masterpiece all the way around!
I’m so glad you reacted to this version! I hope it makes the rounds in the reactor-verse! Leon could sing and play the heck out or so many songs. I find it interesting that he never really could hit the high notes of his signature song even when he first recorded it. Not a criticism. It’s a boss move, actually.
Great

It's sounds so more beautiful at the ages they were here , made me cry ❤😢
To me this song will always be a Leon song, however, this version tears me up inside. The respect that Willie and Leon show Ray by letting him finish. Everytime I see this, I cry like a baby.
Tĥree of the best.
3 American treasures ♥️
How amazing, just perfect ❤
I will have to dig into my music collection as I remember that I loved this song when I heard it by Damion Hall and his brother Aaron Hall. It’s definitely one to check out.
Touched my soul
That was beautiful
Fantastic
Leon had lost a lot of his natural vocal tone by then but Ray never did lose his
Temps version from a song 4 u album still reigns supreme
Have you heard Aretha Franklin sing this song at the Kennedy Center Honors? Also heartbreakingly sweet.
😭😭😭😭😭❤❤❤❤❤❤
Nothing comes to Donnie Hathaway,.
I think you mean 'compares'. I think Donny's version is just sublime!
@@lauraallen55 I did mean that! Late night texting and aggressive autocorrect!!
My autocorrect is a pushy sort too lol!@@courtnayzeitler8564
Nothing better than Leon's original.
