I just applauded you a loud, and by myself, after watching this video. You are amazing and this breakdown is amazing! You are the best guitar teacher I've ever had and we've never spoken. Please, don't ever stop.
Finally someone who teaches how to play something AND tells you the keys/modes/which pentatonic to use. So many online "teachers" don't. I'll be signing up for lessons with you!
Stitch, your smooth style on this brought a smile to my face on a rainy Monday morning. Not really complaining about the rain because it gives me some “Taylor Time”, which is never a bad thing. It may be a while before I can play this, but it’s fun learning! Thanks for doing this.
Thank you, Stich! As your legions of fans state, you are a wonderful teacher. This was such a helpful lesson. The concepts are so useful, and of course the song is golden. I just can't keep up with your volume of material!
Dude! Another amazing lesson. 😃 You are the best guitar teacher on YT. Always very clear explanations with not only the how but the why and without being overwelming. Great demos and a perfect learning pace without being a show off. Bravo man. Bravo! 👏👏
Thankyou Stich for all the knowledge you share with us. The way you teach is unparellel im becomming the level of guitar player ive always wanted to be all thanks to you.
Hi Stitch.. I'm enjoying your lessons alot.. i been playing for 40 years and I dont know much theory but you're tying-in alot of stuff so things are starting to make sense ! This particular song i have my version for licks and fills and you just clarified alot for me here. Thanks for that. Cheers
Hi Stitch just became a patron so glad I did.Like the way the videos are made in chunks and easy to follow. The charts are well laid out and really helpful.looking forward to working my way through them..Cheers from Scotland
I love playing this song, but I memorized every note to learn it. I like the way you break it down into sections, how to use the scales, and the hints at the other chords. Great video and what a happy beard you have!!
I've watched a lot of your lessons, and learned quite a bit...this has to be one of the best lessons and descriptions of a masterful lead on Nobody Knows You. Thumbs up and hit the Sub button.
whatta lesson 😍🤝🎼🙌🙌🙌🙌 checked out all other lesson but nobody explained it the way you did my friend 🌻🌻🌻 you made my day 🌼🌼blessing from the priest from India 🇮🇳
These lessons breaking down the leads are fantastic! Loved your ophelia lesson and this one. Perfect for the intermediate guitar player looking for ideas and real world applications to all the working theory. Truly helpful in taking my playing to the next level. Youre the man!
Brilliant as always Stich, so glad I have 'found' your channel. I'm getting back into guitar and relearning, so, even something as simple as taking the chord progression and playing it makes me feel as though I am moving in the right direction. Thanks!
That was awesome. I have been trying to play over the chord changes more and this opened my eyes. I never thought to look at the progression in chunks like that to see where you can stay in one key like over the C and Am and the F and Dm. Thanks
Thanks Stitch, Great lesson. I love all the classic stuff, 60's, 70's, 80's and Clapton's right up there! By the way I received your shirt yesterday ( I had forgotten I ordered the damn thing lol ) Cool shirt and good quality, I'll wear it with pride 🤙🤣
Thank you for the great lesson on this terrific song. Was wondering if you could recommend any more of these old blues songs with the ii-v-i turnaround. I know of the Big Bill Broonzy song called "Trouble In Mind" that Jerry Garcia covered with his acoustic band, but those are the only two that I know really well.
So I worked on this last night. Found a backing track and ended up jamming on it at least an hour,LOL. I would have played the C major pentatonic the whole way and it works but taking note to hitting those notes on the A and great Eb on the F# dim. And the double stops was like a cherry on top of an ice cream cone. Again thank so much for you for all you know and your kindness for sharing it. First class my friend!! Thank you kindly !!
Thanks, Stich. I am shocked that, unlike 6 months ago, I actually understood almost all of this! Very cool 👍 I heard a Styx song a few minutes ago, may have been Grand Illusion, but I’m sure there are better examples for a possible tutorial, which is: When to break in with a Solo.
You are a wizard on the guitar. I am a self taught person. And mainly play by ear. Your naming all the notes kind of confuses me until I see it on the fret board. But excellent skills and heart in to the music :O)
Great stuff!! I always thought this song had a nice jazzy feel to it. And that trill is without a doubt Clapton. That was my favorite part because I know I can apply it to different playing situations.
Long time watcher, first time "commenter." You should definitely do an in the mind of Clapton sunshine of you love or some other descending cream riff. Looking for how to spice up a solo beyond just the pentatonic over such a simple progression.
I love the F#dim in those situations. They're Red Hot by Robert Johnson (which Clapton has also played) is another example. I don't use my pinky though; I find it easier to stretch my ring finger.
I get so much out of your lessons, I can hardly believe my progress, lol. It's been constant upward growth every day, sometimes a little, sometimes a lot, so thank you VERY much! I noticed you are playing mostly down-picking while playing, and blues requires that technique of course, but would you recommend alternate-picking while soloing as a general rule of thumb, or just with certain types of music? I focused on alternate-picking so much early on in my playing I have a hard time turning it off, especially when it's not called for in the moment. Thanks again!
After 30 years I don’t expect I can learn all that beautiful fretwork style but it’s such a great blues song to just stumble though the chords. Someone else can take the credit for the fancy stuff. I’ll just keep the beat honest with a typical Maori ringa chicka blues. Great teacher tho. Doesn’t bullshit and waste time with stories about himself. 10/10.
Great video! Love the concept of Stealing and Simplifying, with this in mind, could you do a video lesson for Jerry Garcia's Irene Goodnight? Best wishes from the UK
Hey stich it would be awesome if you (on top of the incredible lesson on soloing) could add two minutes about where those chords came from the functions as secondary dominants etc etc, so on top of it all we also learn a little bit on songwritting! Left a similar comment on Stella blue but i know you read the newer videos, and again, thanks a lot!!
I remember myself in July 17th 2010 near midnight playing this by Plauer lake near Berlin with an amazing girl I met by accident that turned out to be the one that got away. Been hiding my heart ever since.
You look so comfortable. Could you back the camera off and show how you are holding the guitar? I am built like you but can't find a comfortable way to hold the guitar up at that angle.

Where can I buy your full tab of the solo?
Thank u very much
Weird, the link above works fine for me…. Maybe a different browser?

An entire series of "Stealing And Simplifying" would be the best thing happening on youtube for guitarists since the slow-down button.
That slow down button is exposing secrets lol
HOLD THE PHONE!!!
What slow-down button????
@@theplayers3507 click the 3 dots on video and you can control the playback speed to speed it up or backwards.
The slow down button sucks. If you cant learn to play in time. Get out. Lol. Totally 🙃 joking. Love fam!!!
@@overtonesnteatime198 it sucks until you discover Transcribe!
"I hope you enjoyed this."
Stich, this was one of your best videos yet, and your videos are already cream of the crop in my book. Keep 'em coming!
I just applauded you a loud, and by myself, after watching this video. You are amazing and this breakdown is amazing! You are the best guitar teacher I've ever had and we've never spoken. Please, don't ever stop.
The perfect sequel to the "Stealing and simplifying Acoustic Layla"- thanks

Don’t know where but I’m sure we’ve jammed. You’re a great teacher and a cool person. Lessons of this nature are priceless!
Thanks. I was just strumming along the chord progressions, watching the Sunday News channels and boom, this popped up. Great lesson at a perfect time.
The title sold me, that's my mindset with lots of songs.
Great explaining what’s being played over the chord changes in a short period of time.
Thank you, Stich! As your legions of fans state, you are a wonderful teacher. This was such a helpful lesson. The concepts are so useful, and of course the song is golden. I just can't keep up with your volume of material!

Outstanding lesson, Stich. I just purchased and downloaded the 5 page chart. Thank you. I will certainly continue to tune in.
Great lesson, Ian. Thank you for simplifying this. Your explanation of Layla was similarly excellent.
Best lessons. Simple and easy to understand
What I learned from this is I need to get serious about learning all the notes. Then this is a lot more applicable. Cool stuff.
Excellent...you make it so accessible and enjoyable to learn...thanks
Really good explanation of structuring a lead performance and giving homage to the masters.

Love your stuff, I wish you were my teacher when I started playing years ago, sadly I am older than you.
This was crazy. Crazily awesome! :-)

A bit beyond me, but really clear explanations! Guess I got more studying to do....
What a brill lesson
Great break down Stitch
Thanks first ...Could you tell me what's the Taylor model guitar is ?
love the video. am I crazy do you mention this song in another video and say the progressions are identical or similar ?
I love the F#dim in those situations. They're Red Hot by Robert Johnson (which Clapton has also played) is another example.
I don't use my pinky though; I find it easier to stretch my ring finger.

I could tell you were a fan of Garcia just by the way you play licks, and the licks you choose!
Beautiful
I dig this ! 😎🎸👍
What's the best Taylor to buy?
The one you like the most and can afford
@@StichMethodGuitar Ha, you beat me to it.
Yo the man love this song!
Which Taylor model were you playing?
AD27
I don't think of that part as D Minor I think of it is F major pentatonic that way it's still in the key of C is not throwing you out of the key of C
