I'll never forget seeing him in Miami 1998. His newest album out was Pilgrim. He was asking for requests and everyone of course was screaming "cocaine" and there was a pause in the yelling, it was all quiet and I then yelled to him, "she's gone". And, he looked up into the nose bleed seats where I was..... and he smiled and sang the song for me. I loved it, made my day.
Saw him last night in Nashville and this is almost 100% my first thought as well. Sounded and look the same as this. Maybe he learned guitar playing on his own and sold his soul for the fountain of youth?
i see so many people commenting he is the best guitarist; but that is not the point. There are many people-machines that play technically better and more perplexed things. Its the soul. That's what most don't have. Eric is the combination of his expressive singing and sweet accompanying guitar. He redefined the blues. Took the bad old recordings and brought them back to life.
Ethan Bean Probably my first guitar hero too - the one I'd listen to and be like, "THAT is what I want to do", "THAT is the reason I'm going to sit my room plucking a guitar for endless hours, instead of play video games". And, what a reward it's been. When I needed an outlet, I had guitar to help me decompress. Clapton also led me to find JJ Cale, Big Bill Broonzy, and countless other artists I would then study.
I love how he opens up with a song that is about rich people who lose everything by spending money and thinking money is everything, to a venue full of super rich folks and celebrities. Well played.
im 23 but my dad educated me when it came to music and eric Clapton is THE MAN more bluesy now but it sounds great and boy can he still rip on the guitar!!! he made that concert!
Once I lived the life of a millionaire Spent all my money, didn't have any care Took all my friends out for a mighty good time We Bought bootleg liquor, champagne and wine Then I began to fall so low Lost all my good friends, had nowhere to go If I get my hands on a dollar again I'll hang on to it till that old eagle grins 'Cause no, no, nobody knows you When you're down and out In your pocket, not one penny And as for friends, you don't have ANY When you get back on your feet again Everybody wants to be your long-lost friend I said it's strange, without any doubt Nobody knows you when you're down and out When you get back on your feet again Everybody wants to be your long-lost friend I said it's strange, without any doubt Nobody knows you Nobody knows you No one can use you when you're down and out
Plays guitar great, sings great, looks great, and has the reputation on being a great man. God blessed us with the gift of this great man. Stay with us Eric.
More tiring if you don’t alternate heel toe I feel. I do it that way too for that reason. Helps me time upstokes to I tend to move my heel out on upstrokes and my hand knows it
He´s a ABSOLUTE GIANT !! for me ..because his Music over the Years ...not only the MTV Acoustic sets ..his Work with all the Famous Bands and all the GREAT GREAT Records ,Music , Guitar solo´s ..Eric Clapgton is just so AWESOME
Clapton is fingerpicking the hole song and is singing, you cant imagine how incredibly hard this is, i say as a crazy guitarist playing for 1 years at least 3 hours a day. This man is a genius!
Why can you like a video only once ? This is my favourite at the moment. I watch it and listen to it at least once a day. I give it at least 365 likes ! I love this song. Simple, so much meaning in the words and sung by one of the best. Thank you Eric for sharing this incredible artwork with us.
Thank you for your kind comment. His music is such a huge part of my life. I try and learn his solos because I have no one I play guitar with. But it works for me. Thank you again.. Remember Tears in heaven.....
Divim ti se prije svega kao čovjeku i muzičar koji je smogao hrabrosti sve to preživjeti trijezan .Ima u tebi snage oduvijek samo je nisi znao prije naći.Želim ti od srca sve najbolje
Hello Happy weekend fan,Thanks for your beautiful comment and supports🌹🌹🌹🌹your comments and constant support has brought me this far,Keep Supporting my dream, may god bless you and your family,I hope you won’t stop being my fan?
This guy is absolutely the reason at68 years old I have wanted to play this 6string thing so badly. He's a one man blues player. I play a lot of this. Love this guy.......
I agree the lyrics and story taken directly doesn't make sense. At the same time this song helps you appreciate the opposite type of people in your life. No matter how hard you have it.. somebody still has your back. I'm just glad he played it because I love this song.
There is a video on you tube of RICHARD PRYOR singing it back in the early 60's in a club with a sweater & his shirt collar over the sweater Man he really could belt out the blues.
I was completely mad, bad thoughts run over brain. I google for quotes for wahtsapp status before commiting *******. once i lived here this song came, and became fan of the song... when ever i am out of mind I come here and play it again
To all our great men who served in the military and are now suffering because the VA isn't doing much to help them. God bless them. And dedicated to anyone suffering who are trying to get back on their feet (you will)!

i didnt know it was possible for someone to sound that good live. this was the best song of the 12/12/12 concert. this is coming from a 28 yr old guy who isnt even a huge clapton fan. i like the guy, dont get me wrong, hes a guitar god, but this song was spot on.
To all our great men who served in the military and are suffering because the VA isn't doing much to help them. God bless you. And all those who are suffering, who need to get back on their feet (you will)!
EC actually plays this song three different ways, depending on the tuning that he prefers at the time. He even uses his pinkie at times. Thats what improvisational genius is all about. Never play the same thing twice. Just a brilliant player, hands down, no debate.

That’s really cool, you think there is a recording of that moment somewhere?
Only your day?
@@spongeorpete7289 Highlight I still remember to this day. I still feel stoked thinking about it. So I guess I should have said more than a day. LOL
@@phiddy55 that sounds amazing bruhhhhh wish i could’ve been there..... wasnt even born yet tho lol
What a cool moment
I'm a firm believer this man doesn't age. He sounds just as good, if not better, than he did 20+ years ago. My all-time favorite musician forever
He has lots of known health problems unfortunately; he is definitely aging, and not performing much these days
He sounds better in this recording (in my opinion) than he did in the MTV Unplugged version of this song.
@@Alex-eo9of i mean theres a global pandemic

@@mattwomac7695saw him last year at Crossroads in LA. Sounds just as good as he ever has and he is nearing 80.
He's at an ease and just comes on stage, no nonsense, no jokes, picks up his guitar and starts giving people a memorable time. What a great man!
EXACTAMENTE!!!
UNIQUE CLAPTON !!!!!

Rediscovered this song lately. Fills me with hope every time, no matter the situation.
If it wasn't for this man I would have given up on music, never played guitar, and probably would have hit rock bottom
Ethan Bean Probably my first guitar hero too - the one I'd listen to and be like, "THAT is what I want to do", "THAT is the reason I'm going to sit my room plucking a guitar for endless hours, instead of play video games". Shines a light on a lot
I love how he opens up with a song that is about rich people who lose everything by spending money and thinking money is everything, to a venue full of super rich folks and celebrities. Well played.
And about how nobody knows you if you’re poor
Fair. But he might be warning em. Lol.
And he’s also a super rich celebrity !
can we all just admire how melodically genius that solo was...
Andrew Chae Seriously. I know what I'm working on tonight.
Exactly. A lesson Bonamassa still hasnt learnt.
And it looked and sounded wonderfully effortless. That's genius.
H
kinda not so great. def not genius...
At the word SMOOTH you see this performance
That's digged up from 1923 but, as you can tell, it's a timeless song.
Proud you know that. Cheers mate. Blues is a lost art
@@mknottzi5807 FKing agree mate. Blues is the origin of all music. Its priceless!

All of the outright crap that's being called Blues today simply isn't.
Scrapper Blackwell.
Such an old soul in such a youthful body. A true blessing. Rock on, Eric!
im 23 but my dad educated me when it came to music and eric Clapton is THE MAN more bluesy now but it sounds great and boy can he still rip on the guitar!!! he made that concert!
This is my favorite version of this song. He's a vocal and musical genius who I didn't appreciate in the 80s. But, I do now!
Once I lived the life of a millionaire

Took all my friends out for a mighty good time

Eric is simply the best guitar-player in the world! Just wasn’t aware in my young days, love the remastering 🙏🏻🍀👒
Eric you are the Man!!!!!!!!! Thank you so much I really really enjoyed watching you sing and play this classic song.
Forgot about this ...Brilliant .
Even the way he taps his foot is cool.
Bro one day I hope to brush my hair like him he's just such a badass.

The story of my life....
Almost single handidly brought the 1940's and 50's Blues into 70's mainstream Ameruca
He is a wonderful man.

Edit: after practicing a bit more its probable to sing along :)
I remember watching this concert on TV live, I was 14 and this was the first time I was really introduced to Eric Clapton....been in love ever since
attgirl cant go worng with eric....
well said
A damn good guitar player with the gentle look of a university lecturer. Eric Clapton deserves a knighthood.
I think all rock / blues guitarists, whether they know it or not owe EC a debt of gratitude.
Those bass notes snap so perfectly.
from eddie van halen to john mayer every body has to go thru eric clapton...

ERIC CLAPTON, GOD OF OF THE GUITAR 🎸 ♥️ 🐻🌹❤️ July23 2022 A love of mine.❤️
His guitar playing is so good his voice if possible is underrated this song is a great example
This has become a favourite song of mine. They should have a "Love" option on you tube because sometimes "like " is not enough !
Eric Clapton is phenomenal!
Lucky enough to see him on his From the cradle album, best concert ever !
Me too, 5 may 95
This was the one I was looking for the other day. Love/truth. Love you Eric/all from the bottom of my heart, always and forever xo
Always loved the song , it feels bad to see my legendary Eric Clapton , so Old ... don't die on me man
He is not so well now after having the covid shot. His fingers were starting to hurt a little bit but now after the shot the pain is bad for him.
Best version of this one by Eric. ❤😊
Eric Clapton knows how to perform ...Light & Love...
one of my favourites..... and even at his old age clapton still looks badass
Good God yes. Still smoking hot!
I really wish someone would tab out that solo. Clapton is God? Indeed.
What a brilliant version Eric Clapton has done. He has take a good song and made it awesome.
Neil Swainston that's not a good song it's a great one
Thank you for your kind comment. His music is such a huge part of my life. I try and learn his solos because I have no one I play guitar with. But it works for me. Thank you again.. Remember Tears in heaven.....
hahahahahhaha no.
It is truly wonderful how Eric gives honor to the great Bessie Smith by not changing the song much. He is one great artist.
Eric Clapton has been performing and kicking ass doing it for 50 years, almost twice as long as Winehouse was alive.
When he was old & sick Muddy Waters formally passed the torch to Eric.
🥀Amazing song no doubt & love it because he's telling the truth! Thanks for sharing you're life and in the music industry oh yeah it's that good!🥀☝️🥀
Te amo Eric
A man who can truly sing the blues as well as a man who has lived the blues! God bless him!
And a man in the comment section who doesn't know what Blues is.
His vocals are superb on this and he's pushing 70!
Tears in Heaven, love it it's sad and the world felt his pain when it first came out. It's hard to lose a child.
Classy Clapton as always
Beautiful! Love the use of dominant 7 chords and minors. Timeless song. Think I'll learn it

amazing, simply amazing, with just one acoustic guitar, bass and drums he can do more than what others can not do even with a thousand synthesisers
Best performance of that show. He makes it look like effort-less! Long live slow hand!

I like Eric Clapton's version of quite a dramatic song. The rise and fall of a star.
A class act that only got better- amazing.

Bravo,What a life he has had.
This was a great little set by Eric and the 3 piece band.
Mr. Clapton doing what he does a.k.a legend
Oh, I remember my first guitar, the harmonies of a few Blues-Songs and....and........... 60 years ago.........
This song is really amazing. I love so many versions of it
Fiquei tão feliz nesse dia, por ele ter cantado essa música 😍
Completely Agree , this song was amazing

That's because unlike all the crappy new artists that need software to sing well, amazing classic rock artists like Clapton actually have talent.
