More you watch that 50th sb, you realize how smart Ohtani is. The timing he moved his toe to avoid the tag was just crazy. Being that big guy and able to control his body,, in the right timing an inch away from the glove,,, it’s just unbelievable.

Excellent point. He's by far the most fluid graceful player at 6"4 and above ever too. He's like a Tom & Jerry Cartoon you can't catch me. He's got like 35 steals in a row without being caught. How is that possible? As I said a few days ago he's the best combination I've ever seen of Smarts ,Skills, and Athleticism, ever to play.

I usually watch the highlights of games. I like going to games and watching the whole game, but for TV, I just watch the highlights. I've got stuff to do. But for the playoffs this year, I'm watching the Dodger series. I'm hoping to see some crazy play out of Ohtani.

In 2022, Shohei decided he was going to be the best pitcher in baseball.
That year, he started 28 games, finishing with a 15-9 record and a 2.33 ERA. In his 9 losses, he gave up a total of 30 earned runs for an ERA of 3.33. Those 9 losses also include 4 quality starts that resulted in a loss or no decision despite posting an ERA of 1.75. Shohei finished 4th in Cy Young voting. He also hit 34 home runs and stole 11 bags that year.
Ohtani's 2022 season will be looked back upon as one of the greatest accomplishments and most underappreciated seasons in baseball history.

@@yamamancha It’s like the Trout and Kershaw syndrome a few years ago. They were just so much better than everyone else that just being themselves felt normal. Even if they played better than everyone else it didn’t mean as much because it was their norm. People get used to greatness and that makes them expect “greaterness”. If you look at both their numbers, they both should have won more MVPs or CYAs. Same thing with Ohtani. While his pitching should have been good enough for 3rd in the CYA, his offensive numbers weren’t as good in 2022, so he flew under the radar (seems impossible, but it happened). Years from now we’ll look back and be able to see that he should have been the unanimous MVP from 2021-2024 and beyond.

Not sure why it is so hard to say he’s the greatest living player. Apparently those with low IQ or in denial or haters can’t grasp the concept that it was considered impossible for one player to do all that he does, especially doing it all at elite levels.

And with over 60 more at bats than Judge, it's Judge with more Home Runs and RBI's. Judge's Batting Average is
also much higher and he had to go thru the grind of being an everyday player, whereas Ohtani just sits in the
dugout while waiting to bat. All the additional power stats are in Judge's favor and he is comparable to Ruth, Gehrig
and Di Maggio in major stats for a season.

Ohtani is at 72nd percentile in sprint speed on baseball savant. If there are 13 position players on each team and 30 teams you’d get 390 position players of which about 109 are faster than him. I think Verducci is a little high with 150, but it’s not as crazy as you think. Ohtani is definitely stealing these bases primarily based on elite jumps rather than elite speed.
